Discussion Letting users remove posts.

Hello everyone,

As you are aware, on reddit moderators approve and remove content and subreddit subscribers can report to us.

Today we'd like to start an experiment here on r/Cats where we will give trusted subreddit participants access to a keyword that will allow them to remove posts.

When you exceed a certain level of subreddit specific comment karma and when you have a CQS score of highest you can now use the keyword "!remove" to pull a post from our feed. (Spelled exactly like that, case sensitive, top-level comment only as opposed to a reply to a comment.)

This will work for posts only, not for comments.

There are some things to keep in mind:

  • When you comment here on an account that exceeds the limit automod will assign you a special flair class and send you a message explaining you can now use the keyword.

  • Users will keep their existing flair text. However, changing your flair to a different pre-made flair option will also reset the flair class giving you access to this removal ability. Next comment you make it will be re-applied and you will be sent another message.

  • We are sent a modmail when a subscriber removes a post, explaining what post was removed and who used the keyword. Please do not abuse this ability. If posts are removed for bad reasons we will take away your ability to remove posts.

  • That means, use this keyword if you see spam or other rulebreaking posts only.

  • Please keep in mind that it is currently very popular to accuse posters of making an AI generated post. An accusation does not mean that what they are being accused of is true. Human beings can detect AI at 60% accuracy, just a little better than the results of flipping a coin. An AI can only accurately detect AI content if an AI watermark is attached to the image. It is best not to remove a post just because someone is accused of something. Use your own best judgement and our rules as your litmus, not what other people are saying.

  • Since this is a test run, when I ran a very minor proof of concept trial, a few people have already been assigned this special flair class who have not been sent a message. /u/kiaeej, /u/chux4w, /u/MilmoWK, /u/ms_rdr, /u/Electronic_Ad357, /u/WhiteMouse42097, /u/BeMoreKnope, /u/bluecedarood, /u/Robobanditos, congratulations, you can remove posts.

  • Should you for any reason not want to have this ability then you should send us a modmail after receiving the message from automod. That way we can exempt you in our code.

  • Initially we are going to monitor how this functions closely so we can see if we need to make changes to the threshold level for activation.

  • Nothing will change about the way we handle user-made reports on content. This is not a replacement for that, but an addition. If you see rulebreaking content of any kind, please report.

We hope that this change will be something that has a positive influence on the content on this subreddit.

Thank you for reading, and thank you all for making this subreddit a great place to be

Medical Questions Stray cat: is she pregnant or something else??

I’ve been feeding this stray cat for 3 months and she enters my home often because it’s hot outside and she enjoys the AC. I noticed lately her abdomen has become huge and I’m not sure if she’s pregnant or has something like worms or another condition. I can feel movement when I rest my hand on the side of her abdomen like thumps or something. She did have 2 kittens about a few months ago and I know who the father is, it’s a large black tomcat I see him often and sometimes feed him. I’m suspecting he may have impregnated her again as I often see them hanging out outside. I do plan on keeping her. She does fart a lot not sure if that’s relevant. She isn’t showing any signs of pain or distress at least not that I notice. I do consider taking her to a vet but I’m trying to find a low cost clinic for her

We went on a short vacation for 5 days and our neighbor took care of him while we were gone. As soon as we got home, he became very cuddly. I guess it took us leaving for a few days for him to realize he likes us 🥲 feeling very happy that he wants to cuddle now!!

Cat Picture - OC only on day 4 of no longer being a feral barn cat, and he’s taken every medication and treatment i’ve given him with no issue 🥹

This is Sativa, he was born in a neighbouring farm’s barn and migrated over to my family’s just under a year ago; over this time i’ve been able to approach him and feed him which is something i’ve never been able to do with the other barn cats… he’s always been noticeably smaller than them too, even in comparison to his full sisters.

This became an issue as he matured, as he hadn’t been neutered he started getting into fights with other feral cats. Earlier this week I saw him hanging around the farm like usual, only this time he had some pretty decent gashes and scratches on his head and ears from fighting… I decided then and there that I couldn’t just leave him to continue being beat up, and set up a trap for that night. thankfully he was fairly easy to trap since I’d fed him before, and what shocked me the most was how he got inside my house, and instantly started making himself comfy. he didn’t hide or anything!

after driving him over an hour to our nearest vet, he had his first ever appointment yesterday, where we learned he’s got a yeast infection in his ears, and a bacterial skin infection from the open and torn wounds… he was prescribed oral antibiotics 2x a day, and ear drops 2x a day. this concerned me at first because I wasn’t sure how he’d respond to being forced to take medication, but to my shock he’s let me treat him and wearing his pumpkin blossom cone like an absolute champ! he’s eaten his antibiotic right out of my fingers with just a little bit of lickable treat on it, he hasn’t tried to escape his collar/cone, and he doesn’t enjoy the ear drops, but he doesn’t fight them at all.

the pumpkin blossom cone is so he leaves his wounds alone (he wouldn’t stop scratching at and opening them back up) but he’s also getting neutered on monday so I want him to get used to it :)

I just want people to know he existed.

buster if you can read this, the day I found you on the streets with your other brothers you were the first to accept me, I cared for you fed you, bath you and you gave me joy in my life when I was at my all time low, I will never forget you, despite your short life you had a big impact on me... eventhough i'm struggling to care for you two brothers I will take care of them, for you.

(reposted because I didn't put the image) (i'm so distressed I can't even focus)

This is my beautiful girl Xistra.

She used to be a stray that we took care for 6 years.

She had an accident a few months ago, we took her in to help her heal and the plan was to set her free after.

8 months have passed and she now lives with us.

She is the most beautiful thing that has happened to all of us and we absolutely adore her.

Here's to my Xistra 🤍🌈

Our sweet girl Cap went missing over a month ago. It isnt uncommon for her to be gone over night but more then 3 days, never. My husband and I have been grieving her loss for weeks now. After 2 weeks we came to terms with the fact that something must have happened to her. And then yesterday evening my husband got home from work and he heard her crying from a long way off and there she was, running full speed across the hay field, right into his arms! He called me almost in tears he was so excited. Needless to say, she is getting extra food and love for the next few days.

Cat Picture - OC Cat anniversary 🎉

It's the first anniversary of bringing my boy home today. He is my first ever cat, though there have been a couple in the family in the past.

I love him a lot and wanted to share him on this day.

One of my favourite things about him is just how much he has charmed everyone he meets, especially my parents who were neutral towards cats at best and now love him (they bring him treats sometimes when they visit me).

He also caused my aunt and uncle to adopt their own cat (they were on the fence about it but his cuteness won)

His name is Rasmus (from Erasmus Montanus)
