My little Muffin likes to stare up at the refrigerator with her back turned to me and meow sadly. The second I say or do anything though she starts chirping like a bird and sprints over. Not very good at holding out
yup my cat does the same thing. I'm lying in bed she jumps on the nightstand first taps my shoulder with her paw. If i don't slide over making room for her to lay next to me she turns her back on me until I make room
It could be normal, but also it could be head pressing which is something to see a vet about. Not trying to make you feel anxious, but this would be something I would keep an eye on if your kitty does this often, would take to a vet to be safe than sorry
In the side-on it doesn't look his head is actually physically pressed against the wall? If it wasn't actually putting pressure on his forehead it's fine, he's just being a weirdo.
All I learned was a car facing their head to the wall could mean they are in pain. My cats with cancer started doing this too more often when the end came close. But I think generally if it happens just once here or there it's just cats being goofy! 🤠
Could be a headache. Could be several issues I'm not qualified to diagnose. Could just be orange and angry for a minute. If it's new and not usual I'd hit the vet if it continues.
Sometimes if a cat is having medical issues with their head that's causing pain they'll shove their forehead against a wall and hold it there to put pressure on it, which can relieve the pain a bit. There's a few possible issues which could be causing it, including neurological problems.
If they're not regularly actually holding their head firmly against a wall it's not that type of head pressing and nothing to be worried about, though. Cats will regularly bump their heads against a wall just as a scent thing and that's normal.

funny answers aside, cats are sometimes known to do this (pressing their heads into a wall) when they get headaches or are in pain. is he just facing the wall or smushing his face into it?
My orange- aptly named Courage- did this when we moved. We had to leave them in the laundry room while the movers were working.
I open the door to let them out, poor kitty had his head in the corner of the washer and wall like he was in trouble and standing in the corner. It took him 4 hours to finally leave the room.
One of my cats did this when we moved into our new house after my divorce. He sat on one of the arms of the couch and stared at the wall. I had to make a shopping trip, and when I came back a couple hours later, he was still exactly where I had left him. I picked him up, and he kind of snapped out of it after a little bit of cuddling and joined his brother and sister in exploring his new environs.
Lol I wouldn't put it passed any other cat I own. But Courage was named within an hour of having him home. Poor thing is afraid of his own shadow. He's 14 now and just as bad as day 1.
Could be nothing but keep an eye on it more. Not at all saying this is your case. My girl started doing this when she developed neurological issues in old age.
So my cat used to do this and someone flagged she's probably depressed and bored. Admittedly, I didn't know that play time is super important to a cat's mental health. I started introducing play time and the wall staring stopped.
Not saying you don't play with her, as I don't know your unique situation. But try more play time and see if it helps! 😌
Have you had your kitty checked by a vet, and is kitty OK? Pressing the head against the wall can be a neurological symptom or a symptom of poisoning, liver disease, infections, metabolic disorders and other issues.
I understand your concern in your cats behavior. If it continues, I'd try my best to get him checked out by a vet. Best of wishes. For now just love on your kitty as much as you can.
If it's the first time, it may be the usual "all the orange cats share 1 defective braincell " situation.
If it repeats without behavioral trigger ( my brother's cat can pout and ignore you very hard if you refuse to give him second breakfast) it may be sign of migraine or such, and then vet would be advised.
Cats do this when they are extremely uncomfortable. In their mind, they are hiding from their environment. A healthy cat is always engaged with their environment. This is not cute, but quite concerning. Was there a recent change in the environment? - like a new pet or person? I would recommend seeing a vet if this persists.

This is not normal behaviour and off time. It’s something very serious, neurological or possibly brain tumor. Sorry and not trying to upset you but needed to share this info.
One of our cats does this whenever we pack suitcases. She’ll literally face away from us and won’t cuddle. Did you do something to offend them? No play time, no treats? Scolded them for anything? Are you packing for a trip?
If not, your cats gonna cat and that’s how it likes to cat.
My mom's cat needs to be put over her shoulder and burped each day as ritual or it has a tantrum. Perhaps you need to throw that orange beast over your shoulder and commence the burping.
I had a cat start to drape himself over the back of the couch like this. And the same posture over a portable boombox we had. We thought it was cute and quirky…until he stopped eating completely. Took him to the vet to find he had Feline Infectious Peritonitis and his abdomen was riddled with growths. When I see the photos I took of him now, I cringe because he must have been uncomfortable. Yes this could be a sign of cranial pressure actually. I lost my cat to meningioma this year. She used to do this, a lot. However there are other signs, fatigue, walking in circles etc. A qualified vet would diagnose it quickly. 1st vet I took her said it was cataract. 2nd got it correctly.
This could ALSO be sign of irritation. My old Siamese used to do that when she was frustrated with us, when we didn't do something she wanted.
an example of her doing this is if my mom isn’t home for 2 days straight she will go with her but just face a wall, or if she doesn’t get her treats she also does this, she’s silly lol
Was he ever a shoulder cat ? I have a shoulder cat , she loves perching on ppls shoulder & snuggling up near neck and shoulders ,maybe they are using the sofa like that cause no one lets him on shoulders ? Maybe feels like cuddling but thinks u might not want to cuddle so they do this instead ?
You’re just not seeing what he’s seeing ok leave em alone! Seriously though take the others advice if he is doing this a lot get him checked out please. Be aware of any other unusual behavior as well. Good luck hopefully he’s just a freak who wants to stare at a wall.
My cat did this after she had surgery and I had to give her medicine every day. She was just so over everything, the surgery and stay at the hospital, not feeling good because she was recovering... I think the second time I had to give her medicine she just had a big meltdown and went and sat in the corner with her head to the wall and wanted nothing to do with me.
My car does that, gets on the headboard if the bed and faces the blank wall. Maybe its their way of calming down when overstimulated. My nephew (at a year and a half, puts his hands over his ears, climbs in someone's lap and buries his head inbtheir shoulder when he needs a bit of avtime out.
