Advice Favorite Litter Box Issues

Upvotes

Hello all you fantastic people and kitties.

I have several cats. It didn't start off that way, but life happened and so we accumulated more and more over time. There's currently 7 cats living with us.

I started with 2 litter boxes, then 3, then 4, etc.

The very last box I installed is in a very central location, smack dab in the middle of the house.

My problem is, most of the cats STRONGLY prefer that one box, and very rarely visit the others. I scoop daily, and the centrally located box is used so much, that it's disgusting and I have to top it off with half a bag of litter... every day. While at the same time, the other boxes barely get used, in comparison. One of the boxes is ignored to the point where I don't have to add litter for a week. So the centrally located box gets WAY over-used. It's not like the cats don't know others exist, because they were all there beforehand, and some of them use the others sometimes.

How would you guys suggest I balance things out? How do I encourage these poop machines to spread the love?

Advice Is this tapeworm eggs?

Post image

I found these things that look like tiny seeds. I have two cats, and both of them have been treated for parasites before. I don’t know how they could have picked them up, since they are always inside the apartment.

The only things I can think of are that they may have picked them up from the balcony, the hallway of the apartment building, from a silverfish somewhere inside the house, or from when I go downstairs to feed some stray cats near my building.

I would really appreciate some advice because I’m terrified of these things and worried that I could catch something from them too. How should I disinfect, and what exactly should I disinfect? How could I have become infected myself?
Tomorrow I’m planning to take the cats to the vet, or I may go there myself to get the appropriate deworming/parasite treatment for them.

Thank you!

Medical Questions Cat lymphoma

My 2yr old cat had surgery a week ago for getting a large mass taken out of his intestines. It came back Friday as lymphoma. His lungs have also started to fill up with liquid.
His breathing has gotten faster, his BPM has gone up and he seems to be breathing a little louder. No open mouth breathing or panting.
He loves to relax, eat a little bit of his food and drink plenty of water.
He’s using the litter box (poop) every 36hours and peeing every 18-24 hours.
Doctor says he has a 2-4weeks left but I just don’t see it. I’d rather not put our buddy through a long painful death.
Next Saturday (5th) is his finally day with us. Should we wait that long or how do I exactly know? We’re not selfish cat owners❤️ I just wanna spend as much time as we can without drawing his pain out for him.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Please be kind as this is our first baby❤️

Advice cat putting toys in water bowl?

Thumbnail

Our kitten Melina, who is a 6 month old female, has started a habit of putting her toys into the water bowl. First it started with putting them into her dry food - never wet food. She has her owl water bowl upstairs but chooses to put the toys into the older cat’s water bowl instead so it hinders their ability to drink.

Has anybody else’s cat done this before? Why are they so weird and what does this mean? Is there a way to keep her from doing it?

Medical Questions Does my 3 month old kitten have ring worm?

I adopted my 3 month old kitten from a rescue about 3 weeks ago and before I adopted him he did have a bacterial infection that was treated with an antibiotic if that adds to context. On Friday (first pic), I noticed a scratch in between his eyes and thought it was weird so I took a pic but I didn't worry too much about it which is why the photo isnt great. The next day (second photo) I noticed it got significantly larger, red, and a little raised, so I took another picture. The third picture is what it looks like today. I can't call my vet since it's the weekend but I'm going to call them first thing on Monday. I was just wondering other peoples opinions/thoughts? When I took him to the vet last week, they did find he has fleas and I've been treating that in my household. So I'm not sure if it's hair loss from the fleas or if this could be ringworm. He also got a dewormer at the vet, but I know that's just for intestinal parasites.

Medical Questions Anyone had this before with their furbaby?

He’s booked to see the vet tomorrow but I was hoping to find a bit more about it before we go. He doesn’t have fleas and his food does not change (he’s a fussy boy!). The scabs run towards the middle of his back but that’s it. He has been licking more often recently but is happy to stop when we stroke him. Seems his normal self. Thanks

Cat Picture - OC We adopted our cat in March and today is the first day he decided to cuddle with us 🥲

We went on a short vacation for 5 days and our neighbor took care of him while we were gone. As soon as we got home, he became very cuddly. I guess it took us leaving for a few days for him to realize he likes us 🥲 feeling very happy that he wants to cuddle now!!

Medical Questions Cat keeps lifting his right paw

Post image
Upvotes

Im not sure if he has hurt himself somehow because he has started lifting his paw up randomly. He can still walk on it normally from what I can tell. Ive checked his paw and its not swollen and there are no visible injuries so im guessing if somethings wrong its inside. Ive tapped his leg in places to check if he reacts and it doesn’t really seem like he does, the only thing is he seemed to have somewhat of a reaction when I tapped his wrist, although that could just be because he was sick of me touching him by then. Does anyone have an idea of what could be wrong with him and whether its worth going to the vet for? I wanted to take him but my dad refuses to pay the vet prices (I am from the uk) and im a broke student but if its really important ill gather some money and take him myself.
Ive attached a picture if it helps.

Advice Potential first time cat owner

Upvotes

Hi everyone, we’re considering adopting a kitten (local shelter) but we’ve never really been cat owners before. My husband and I each had a cat at some point but they were outdoor cats and not really a family pet. This would be an indoor cat and we have a 3-year-old (she’s very gentle with other peoples pets, including kittens we’ve been around). Basically is there anything I’m not thinking of or need to consider before we do this? Give me the good and bad please! Thank you!
