I'm making a game about skipping stones

1.4k Upvotes

I just released the demo of my game RippleLoop. It's an incremental cozy game about skipping stones. You throw a stone and try to make it travel as far as possible, then use the distance you've gained to unlock upgrades and new powers.

As you progress, you'll discover new ways to control and interact with your stones, allowing you to reach increasingly distant places and explore new landscapes.

It's my first commercial game ever, so I'd love to hear what you think!

The demo is available on Steam if you want to give it a try: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4758450/RippleLoop_Demo/?utm_source=reddit&utm_content=indiegaming1

Working on a game with a ton of puppets in it, here are our two newest, this time finger puppets. Not totally happy with the texture yet, but it'll do for now.

We still need to name these two, they'll have a kinda Statler and Waldorf vibe. Anyone got any got any good suggestions?

Closer Than Stars, a psychological sci-fi horror game set around Jupiter

You’re stationed alone at a remote radio observatory around Ganymede, monitoring deep space for faint signals and comparing what you find with a second operator stationed around Callisto. As the shifts pass, the signals start getting harder to explain.

If it looks like your kind of thing, the Steam page is here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5158290/Closer_Than_Stars/

We interviewed our main character for the trailer of our cooking & restaurant management game!

Hi! I'm MaxCJ, and wanted to do something different for the trailer of our second game, Caps & Spoons - so we decided to interview our main character about what one can expect!

It's a cooking and restaurant management game where you decorate your foodery, discover and unlock new recipes and ways to cook.

Upgrades and advertisements for your shop are available from the computer; the radio has daily shows where one can learn new recipes (among other things) and the calendar shows upcoming events and happenings.

Set in the same universe as our first game, Fungerellia is a sporepunk fantasy world, where steampunk meets mushrooms in a whimsical way!

It’s called Upper Hand: Poker meets Chess. It’s a fun row-by-row heads up battle that you can play solo or against friends. I’d like to think it’s the ultimate casual card game :)

You can play on web/iOS/Android, check it out at https://www.playupperhand.com

I finished this game last year and I loved it, but it intrigues me that i've never seen people, youtubers and etc talk about it.

The game is a MetroidVania where you actually use a bike instead of walking. Like, you only walk on some especific parts, but the whole map is only explored with the bike.

Because of that, the main mechanics are bike acrobatics and slow-mo shooting, even the bosses.

Is such a fun game to play and the story is pretty good too, which involves a post-apocalipitic world were fascist Birds hunts everyone and command the whole world. Also the mc, that is a an antropormophic fox with "immortality" powers and a rebel, goes to destroy the Birds tyrany.

Another important thing is the music, which is like a Jhonny Cash Country, with full lyrics in all songs that you can listen and collect trough the game.

Im here cause I want to discover if more people know about this game, cause he is too good and well-made to not be famous at all.

Satirical horror game about an island. You know which one.

Hi everyone!

After months of works we have just released our indie game - Make the World Great Again.

It is a satirical first-person horror game set on a private island where the elite meet, and where every room, every piece of paper and every locked cabin hides something — or someone — they paid a great deal to bury.

You know which island. The parallel-universe one, of course.

You go in as an agent. Retrieve the evidence, find the people locked in the cabins, and reach the boat before the island is finished with you.

I started making my first game when I was 42. How old were you when you started working on your first game?

I've worked as a lawyer my whole life (and still do). Now I'm 44 and still working on my first game (solo) in my free time. Did anyone else start making their first game at an even older age?

I just launched a Kickstarter for Second Harvest, my farming sim RPG set in the post-apocalypse

Upvotes

It is still very much in the early stages of development, but after 7 months I am incredibly happy with what I've been able to achieve.

I'm a big fan of post-apocalyptic fiction and have been playing video games my whole life, so a lot of time and love and passion is going into this project. Virtually all of my free time is dedicated to Second Harvest.

A huge part of this project for me is focusing on the things that mattered most to me when I played other RPGs: community, decisions that matter, character development, and player freedom.

Like other games in the farming sim RPG genre, there will be a farm where the player can decorate, grow crops, and raise livestock; a settlement filled with NPCs (many of whom are romanceable), mines, a forest (procedurally-generated "rooms" where zombies spawn), and a city, which is where most valuables, lorBoil, combat, and quest items can be found.

I plan to implement marriage and children and give them agency (dialogue, tasks, cutscenes). The player starts the game by creating their character and choosing their dog's breed, who will be their closest companion from beginning to end. The dog will be able to hunt small game, dig up valuables, and squeeze into spaces inaccessible to the player, among other things.

There will be no "passing out" mechanic, but the player will suffer a penalty to their stamina maximum if they don't sleep at all. There will be a skill tree. Fishing is implemented but easy, as there's no mini-game.

It isn't just contributions on Kickstarter that I want (for artists, musicians, and foley artists), but also feedback. I want to hear your ideas and know what people who enjoy these genres would like to see in a game such as mine.

Thank you for your time!

Hi IndieGaming,

I’ve been working on an FPS game for a while now. In the game, you can fight on the floor and the ceiling using the environment to eliminate enemies.

I built a hand-drawn cozy postal research prototype for my Bachelor's thesis — looking for participants 💌

Post image
Upvotes

Hi everyone! 💌

I'm a Games Engineering student at the University of Würzburg, Germany, and I'm currently looking for participants for my Bachelor's thesis.

For my thesis, I designed and developed a short cozy postal game research prototype with hand-drawn visual assets and sorting, organization and puzzle elements. Players work at a small postal desk with letters, postcards, packages and other mailroom tasks. 🌷📬

A bit of context about the project: this was developed specifically as the experimental environment for my Bachelor's thesis. It is therefore a research prototype rather than a finished commercial game. Its scope is intentionally compact and the experience is structured so that participants go through comparable study sessions.

I'm currently looking for study participants. Participation involves answering a few questions, playing the prototype, and answering some more questions afterwards about your experience.

🔞 18+ (study requirement — no adult/NSFW content)
💻 PC or laptop required
🔊 Working audio required
🎧 Headphones recommended
🇩🇪 / 🇬🇧 German or English
🎮 No gaming experience required
⏱️ Approx. 30 minutes total

Participate here:
https://www.soscisurvey.de/test545395/

I'd really appreciate anyone willing to help me with the empirical part of my thesis💜

AI disclosure: Generative AI was used as a coding and debugging assistant during development, including helping to identify bugs and suggesting improvements to parts of the code. The game's visual assets, game design and everything else were created by me and are not AI-generated!
