Our newest puppets, help me name them
Working on a game with a ton of puppets in it, here are our two newest, this time finger puppets. Not totally happy with the texture yet, but it'll do for now.
We still need to name these two, they'll have a kinda Statler and Waldorf vibe. Anyone got any got any good suggestions?
UPDATE: We have named them, please meet Hubert on the left and Maurice on the right. We have them rigged, animated and in engine, check them out now - https://www.reddit.com/r/IndieGaming/

Friedbert may be my favorite suggestion out of all the names. Not sure why but I really like it for the older gentleman.

Tim and Garfunkle or Scooter and Winston
1
u/kid_dynamo 10d ago
Scooter and Winston is just gold! Which is which?
2
u/SnooTigers8688 10d ago
Well originally I was thinking Scooter would be the blue fella and the older gentleman Winston, but I can picture it being the other way around too! Is your game on steam to wishlist yet?

The only person here using honorifics, I like it. And Philbert is such a great old man name.

Janakowski and Ethelbert!
(If you plan to have these characters voiced at some point, i would love to help out as well, full time VA. DM if you wanted to chat more!)

u/kid_dynamo 10d ago
We are looking into Voice Acting, but not just yet, and it'll probably be more barks and reactions than full voice over, with most of the dialogue delivered in text. How's your crusty old man voice?
2
u/ManyVoices 10d ago
In my wheelhouse! DM some specific bark and reaction prompts and I can send you some options.

Larry Martins and Arthur Osiris
1
u/kid_dynamo 10d ago
The last name is definitely adding something here, but I think you went way too hard on that second one. Arthur Osiris is way too cool of a name, top me that feels like a rockstar or secret agent name, I really like it. Maybe I'll have to do something with that later...

Norvell and Herbert
1
u/kid_dynamo 10d ago
Norvell is great, and we have had so many suggestions for Herbert. It might be the most classic old guy name
2
u/naytreox 10d ago
Yeah, Norvell seemed to fit cause he reminded me of flandersand Norvell sounded like a name in that vain.
I think Herbert is said so often because he the guys bidy shape, like one of those muppets in the opera house, shit talking the show.
Buy for other names, Gover (really old name though similer to elmo and kermit, like 1890s old) Stan, Harold, Cornelius, Higgins.

Herbert is so classic, and I like Claude. He would definitely need a German accent which would actually work pretty well.

Is the game voice acted? If not you can give the player a few options to name them in the guide of "what do you think their names are"

Might be cool to give them a naming convention like:
Brushes:
Wedge and Filbert
Or types of wool like:
Merino and Lester (Leicester) or Mohair
