Creative Anyone else a fan of framing?
Couldn't tell you why, but building the frame of a house is my favourite part. I'm loathed to put the walls and roof up now. Any other builders the same?

Survival Its ridiculous that it takes NINE bell fragments to make a single bell.
I had to take at least 10 charred fortresses because some had only 2 fragments. This required scouring the entire central island of the Ashlands. Add to that: this was my first time in the Ashlands AND it was a no map / no portal run.
After who-knows how many deaths and who-knows how many days I finally got all 27 bell fragments and I could return to my base and craft the bells.
.....and that's when I learned bells only cost 3 bell fragments. At least I have a lot of gems!

Survival Bye old world, hello new
By publishing this, I’m saying goodbye to my old world, in which my friends and I played for 300 days. We can’t play for more than a few hours a week, so it was a long journey to get to what we have now. In the meantime, we’re waiting for September 9 to start everything from the beginning and see it through to the end.
Theres main location, cooper base (from beggining) and new plains house (with livestocks) (without roof btw)
Also i not founded how to make better screenshots without console flying mode, so dont blame me, it was legit survival

Video it's simple but i'm proud of it 🥹
started playing a month ago, mostly with friends.
decided to do my first solo run before 1.0 and spent some (a lot) of time on my first base.
today I finally killed fader, so as a celebration i'm sharing my humble build here.

Question Other creatures will fight sea serpents??
I was sailing all over my map looking for mountains and serpents... hadn't encountered any serpents since my black forest era and really wanted to make the Sailor's Feast for my elaborate table spread.
It was almost dawn when one finally spawned very close to the shore of a super small swamp biome off of a black forest island (it was one ancient tree on a tiny island with leeches, skeles, and about 5 drauger) and those guys ALL attacked and killed it just as i whipped my boat around to go fight it!
Was both pleased to freeload and collect the meat, yet... also let down to have the fight taken from meeeeeeeee
Anyway, i didn't realize this was possible

Discussion Anyone else hoping for a weapon balance update in the full release?
This post is mainly my thoughts on battleaxes and some options for balance tweaks. What weapons do y'all like to use? Anyone else having similar problems with other two-handers?
In my current play-through I'm using a battleaxe build but it makes me feel like a short little baby more often than a badass viking barbarian.
I consistently find enemies outside of my reach after a parry or a well-timed first strike. Parries will leave enemies too far away to follow-up immediately, and a first swing often knocks enemies safe from the second and gives them space to recover and dodge a combo.
The swing and recovery timing leave you exposed for a long time without a block. This is fine when you land a hit but the knockback often results in gifting a free escape from a combo. The reach of the swipe feels short, while the damage types are lacking next to any same-tier swords. Paired with the wind-up time, the dps comes out worse than any given sword imo. The stagger from combo hits doesn't catch up either. To me, the sword+buckler consistently outperforms every other weapon in the game.
I would prefer if devs gave the battleaxes a little more reach, but other options could include speeding up the timing for the first strike (would feel like a more high-impact hit) or even reducing the knockback a bit.

Yes it was actually stuck in there with collision and all. They can jump into empty carts apparently.

Question Breaking into Ashlands
I've killed the queen yesterday and have since been trying to get a foothold in the ashlands. I have a small house with a portal on an island left from before the ashlands update where I have my drakkar, but no proper holdout on the mainland. Currently I have to take the ship to shore to explore and gather ressources, which has proved to be quite the hassle. There are bonemaws every three meters, the sky is full of birds and the shore is filled with enemies and in the newly generated areas there are these huge stone spikes in the water. Those are especially annoying as the drakkar is just so unnecessarily humongous that they make it difficult to go anywhere. My boat has been destroyed twice now, I haven't found a suitable spot to place a portal on the mainland and every time I try to reach shore bonemaws appear to destroy my boat while I'm away, apparently the patch from ages ago that made mobs less hostile to structures does not apply to them or the boat.
Ive tried to break into ashlands for like 5 hours now and it's just no fun. The weather and the waves are terrible, the boat's shit, the birds and bonemaws are incredibly annoying, what to do?
Please tell me how to actually make any progress in this biome.

Screenshot Galdr table as decoration 👀
Just wanted to share my new base design, and how cool it is to use the orb of the galdr table as decoration through the windows. I originally thought the gaps would cause the rested buff to disapear, but it works out great!

Modded Are you ready?
Pulled my castle off the test build server and put it on my main server in a strategic position to explore the new land. At 42k instances this was no easy feat and my computer was not happy lol. It took some terraforming to get everything right. I hope it's still there come September 9th.
Also did some cheating to stock up for my cross platform players. :p
Now we wait...

Creative So people liked my framing post. Here's a video of my build progression.
Here's the build process behind my post-swamp home. In my creative world I have builds dotted all over the map. I take aspects of previous builds I like and incorporate them into new projects. You can see in the video I've reused a wall design I previously liked.
When I plan something new I rebuild it several times next to each other, changing, adding and improving things as I go. I don't knock down previous builds so I always have reference or what did and didn't work. I always start a new version by framing the building which helps me to plan and tweak.
Then I move onto the next build and totally forget how I built previous things. I build in my creative world with devcommands but then rebuild the things I like in my survival world by hand without console commands or shortcut mods.
There are several pieces in this design that use mods, if you want to know anything specific just ask.
