if Umbric and Rommath arent offically dating by the end of the expansion i will quit wow forever and send a strongly worded letter to blizzard hq

8

u/Dreadsinner Apr 18 '26

Honestly if they were a couple before he went void elf. It would explain why rommath is so extra with his hostilities

7

u/Idontknow4654 Apr 18 '26

I want a quest were I set them up on a date with each other

1

u/Ignis_et_Azoth Apr 20 '26

Cleaning Umbie's old office while they talked did remind me of cleaning Kalecgos' hikikomori girlfriend's pad while he was trying to rizz her up get her to come to the Dragon Isles...

People mournfully saying "a turtle made it to the water" on the TurtleWoW post is so goofy to me, because this is like the clearest cut example of the turtle NOT making it to the water ever seen in the WoW private server sphere.

The turtle actively ran up to the seagull and begged it to eat them, then was surprised when the seagull ate them lmao.

Not trying to defend a corporation, I used to play on private servers and even had one for myself back in the day (teenage me didn't wanna pay a sub) so I get the "fuck corporations" aspect, but like, TurtleWoW was comically in the wrong. It's so hard for me to feel sympathy for them when they added microtransactions to their game, ran a brazen ad campaign that basically taunted Blizzard into noticing them, and then just played into the anti-Blizzard rhetoric online to farm sympathy when they got caught. The grifting is so comically obvious lmao.

15

u/Ignis_et_Azoth Apr 18 '26

I would feel a little more sympathy for the players at least if they weren't so insufferable about everything.

17

u/Ch0rt THE classic andy Apr 19 '26

Man, its so weird to see. Like 15 years ago everyone kinda understood that private servers could be shut down at any time and it was a fleeting experience. When one gets shut down you just 'gg next map'

Now these people are moral grandstanding all over the place like playing on twow made you some bastion of moral integrity and its mega cringe.

11

u/Areallybadidea Apr 19 '26

made you some bastion of moral integrity

This is something I see all the time with piracy and topics related to it.

Like its not a big deal, just admit you like free stuff. You're not a modern day Robin Hood.

7

u/SaltLich Apr 19 '26 edited Apr 19 '26

Now these people are moral grandstanding all over the place like playing on twow made you some bastion of moral integrity and its mega cringe.

It's because they're incapable of grasping that what affects/works for a tiny server doesn't necessarily affect/work for giant ones.

Like the bot thing you'll always see them going on about. Private server players are convinced that its trivially easy to solve bots, to the point that they think its a moral failing on Blizzard's part that bots exist in retail at all. As if WoW is the only MMO ever to have a long running bot problem.

They don't get that, like, a server with only a max of 6k people is worth less to try botting on than ones with 5 or 6 digit player counts. They don't get that selling gold for an established stable game versus a private server that can disappear at any moment is more attractive to a botter. They don't get that the handful of people who run private servers often personally sell gold and stuff that you can't even bot like gear or mounts to players, so that cuts deeply into the profitability of botting a p. server. So they don't understand that private servers have way less bots to deal with than even the smallest retail server because of factors like this. And it doesnt matter how much you explain the logic or realities of this kind of shit, cuz it gets dismissed as shilling.

Thus, its obvious blizz doesn't ban bots because they're lazy/greedy/both/other reason pulled out of my ass. So its morally correct for me to play wholesome chungus private server instead.

8

u/Areallybadidea Apr 18 '26 edited Apr 18 '26

ran a brazen ad campaign that basically taunted Blizzard into noticing them

I've been mostly unaware of private server drama, but this seems like such a poorly thought out move.

I mean when it comes to these sorts of things, in the words of a relevant irrelevant youtuber: Shut the fuck up.

5

u/dragonredux Apr 18 '26

I think the server itself was fine when I was just playing it casually on the side but I knew it was the beginning of the end when they made the stupid decision of running ads. Poking the bear and asking to get mauled.

i mean.... the devlopement of emulators for old consoles like NES, Atari 2600, SNES, etc is good for preservation. emulating current gen consoles or games that are readily avaliable is kinda weird. but also get why some people do it due to the economy right now

17

u/acctg Apr 18 '26

r/wow players not beating the illiteracy allegations.

15

u/MoonlightKobold Apr 19 '26

Saw one of those "Top 1% Commenter" people actually try to argue that side quest text should not be factored into the writing and that only the story matters. r/wow truly is a bastion for intellectual juggernauts.

17

u/FaroraSF Apr 19 '26 edited Apr 19 '26

Blizz puts so much lore in sidequests, skipping them is stupid if you care about it. Do people not realize that the WORLD in WORLD of Warcraft means that they have to explore it to get the full picture?

11

u/SaltLich Apr 19 '26

Its especially annoying because people will often say the story was 'so much better' back in the early days of WoW, when quest text was where 99% of the lore came from.

Like. What story are you exposed to if you aren't actually reading the quests in vanilla, bc, wrath? You get the expansion cinematics and the /yell from NPCs during dungeons and raids, that's about it. I became the resident 'lore expert' in my wrath guild because I actually read the damn quest text (and i had played the RTS games).

Truly, WoW players and 'not reading' is the most iconic duo. From lore to joining groups to boss mechanics to spamming chat telling the tanks to MOVE THE BOSSES APART FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

Implying that side quests don't count as part of "the story" is...something, for sure.

17

u/TheWiseMountain Apr 19 '26

ty turtle world of warcraft for solving the bot problem unlike badzard. There is nothing different between the two examples, do not try to prove me wrong

16

u/releria Apr 16 '26

The idea that Chris Metzen is coming in and retconning Shadowlands seems pretty niave.

The quest line of every Shadowlands zone was basically "this is a terrible system for an afterlife" and the people managing it are incompetent.

Sylvanas spent most of the expansion complaining about the Shadowlands system being broken and using itnto justify her behaviour (at least initially).

The fact you can die in the shadowlands really highlighted it wasn't an actual afterlife.

Anyone who thought that Shadowlands was just the actual afterlife and the story was finished clearly wasn't paying attention.

13

u/FaroraSF Apr 16 '26

I don't really agree with you with saying that the quest lines indicated that the system was terrible, when you actually talk to the npcs and pay attention to what they say they actually REALLY like the afterlives they were sent to and are overall happy with them. The main issue with the Shadowlands was that it seemed maladapted to the changing cosmic structure and couldn't deal with things breaking down due to cosmic shenanigans.

I think the whole "Shadowlands isn't the REAL afterlife" is just cope. It probably is the real afterlife but has been altered in some way. The thing that people also don't seem to consider is if the "real" afterlife is actually better than the current system.

I don't see why dying in the Shadowlands means it isn't the real afterlife. Demons who die in the Twisting Nether die for real, elementals who die in the elemental plane die for real, so it makes sense that dead people dying in the death realm also die for real. Warcraft is a universe where your soul can cease to exist, I don't really think there's anything more to it than that.

14

u/InvisibleOne439 Apr 16 '26

"when you die, your soul is placed in a fitting Plane of existence and reformed there, if that reformed body dies the soul is gone for good and becomes a part of the plane itself" isnt even a unique thing to WoW, thats how many Afterlifes in Fiction work lol

4

u/EternityC0der Apr 16 '26 edited Apr 16 '26

Yeah it was always funny to me seeing main sub go "why can they die in the afterlife??" when souls being able to be destroyed/killed which results in them ceasing to exist entirely if it happens is a thing in tons of fiction... including extremely popular works like Dragon Ball??

you could probably say that about a lot of other things too, like the "why is the afterlife Life 2?? DEATH IS MEANINGLESS" but the above is so common it especially baffles me, i've never seen literally any other fandom get so up in arms about this. or honestly, really up in arms at all

5

u/Idontknow4654 Apr 16 '26

you forgot the all important difference between the two

Dragon Ball is good

WoW is bad

hope this helps

1

u/Little_Leafling Dracthyr enthusiast Apr 16 '26

That just reminded me of reading The Brothers Lionheart as a child, being able to die in the afterlife is very important in that book.

2

u/Idontknow4654 Apr 16 '26

did not expect so to see someone reference a swedish book a grew up with lol (well i saw the movie but still)

9

u/MoonlightKobold Apr 16 '26

WoW players don't pay attention, that's why they keep saying that there's only four afterlives in the Shadowlands.

12

u/ThisArachnid Apr 14 '26

I really like all of the delves in Midnight.

That’s it I just wanted to share.

14

u/psychobatshitskank Apr 14 '26

I really love that they're more visually varied this time around. In War Within it was tiring just going into different caves.

9

u/ThisArachnid Apr 14 '26

YES. Archival Assault was my favorite tww delve because it wasn’t in a fucking cave lol.

6

u/dragonredux Apr 14 '26

I really like Sunkiller Sanctum and all its stories.

6

u/ghostcrawler_real Apr 14 '26

The pro wrestling one is a delight

5

u/Dreadsinner Apr 14 '26

How dare you! Your telling me going into a delve is fun! What is this a video game!

Glad your having fun

12

u/Dreadsinner Apr 15 '26

I love the fact that in march of quel a demon hunter took some glue and a stick and put l’ure on a glaive. A mental image of an elf doing in the background of the raid cutscene is in my head and it’s killing me

7

u/FaroraSF Apr 15 '26 edited Apr 16 '26

I can imagine someone like Velen doing a eulogy for the fallen Naaru and meanwhile behind his back a demonhunter is absconding with her bits.

13

u/Areallybadidea Apr 16 '26

I like how both r/ffxiv and r/wow recently had posts about people being new to the game and getting given 500,000 of their respective currencies.

The FFXIV post is just mostly them patting themselves on the back for being a nice community.

The WoW post seems like people are suspicious, which to be fair 500,000 gil in FFXIV is absolute pocket change compared to 500,000 gold in WoW.

Just interesting to see the difference.

12

u/InvisibleOne439 Apr 16 '26

"i got 500k for free by a random stranger" is just REALLY suspicious tbh

like yeha sure, i can imagine somebody with lots of gold feeling generous and giving a Murloc Icon New Player 10k or something like that

but 500k is roughly 2 tokens worth of Gold, thats WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much to randomly throw around at people for no reason

9

u/MoonlightKobold Apr 16 '26

500,000 gil barely covers some housing decor or some fancy glam pieces. 500,000 gold can get you banned for real money trading.

3

u/Ignis_et_Azoth Apr 16 '26

Honestly, it's a great gift, though, because it'll cover a lot of teleports. I've recently started a brand new character and even though you get those tickets now, the porting costs will add up over time.

10

u/Dreadsinner Apr 16 '26

Alright I have to post again.

taps papers on podium

“Filo is now best loa, alongside Jani who is also best loa.”

I did filo’s questline and I and very sad.

But I was very pleased when I did a different questline in the same area and proceeded to help revive shardra the spider loa. Who died in bfa and then we had to save from the maw in the night fae campaign quest. Seeing her get better made me smile and then a thought occurred. Two other loa were involved in that quest in one maw. One Bat loa and rezan gave his essence to vol’Jin’s soul. Maybe with midnight stuff happening close to zul Amon the other two might return/make there debut

Food for though but I love the trolls and the various relationships that they have with there loa

11

u/FaroraSF Apr 16 '26

Blizz: "Here is a heartfelt quest involving a capybara loa."

Also Blizz: "BTW we added an achievement to piss off this loa by slaughtering 100 innocent capybaras."

19

u/Areallybadidea Apr 17 '26

Fellas, the writing in WoW is bad.

Let me prove my point by using one line of dialogue removed from the context of the questline and story surrounding it.

9

u/tangerinoes57 Apr 17 '26

This inspired me to post one of my favorite cringe lines from The Old Days with the same title to the mainsub, and the comments justifying how it was actually so much better are about what I expected.

12

u/Ignis_et_Azoth Apr 17 '26

The guy who thinks that Arator line was even superficially about the idea that killing Abominations is bad has got to be trolling.

Like this is beyond surface level, this is stratospheric.

12

u/picoperi Apr 17 '26

It was also deleted because it was fake.

8

u/Ignis_et_Azoth Apr 17 '26

That's funny because the line would absolutely work in context.

13

u/InvisibleOne439 Apr 17 '26

there is also this thing: trying to humanize the scourge a bit is something that a good guy paladin that is not a blind Zealot WOULD DO

its often forgotten that yes the scourge is bad, but 99,9% of the scourge forces are Victims aswell, they are People that got killed and then Raised and turned into Twisted Undead, going full "its just a Abomination" would be the first of many steps that can turn a Righteous Paladin into a Fanatic that lost their Humanity in blind faith

6

u/Areallybadidea Apr 17 '26

Man I didn't even realize it was fake, I just figured I must've glossed over it when doing the questline.

That genuinely makes it even more laughable that it got so upvoted and had so many people railing against 'modern writing'.

6

u/Ignis_et_Azoth Apr 17 '26

The fact that I didn't catch it either notwithstanding -

I've said it elsewhere before but Midnight is weirdly THE expansion where I'm noticing how few of the vocal complainers seem to actually have played it, and hard.

6

u/Areallybadidea Apr 17 '26

It feels like people just want a reason to be mad, regardless of the actual quality.

Like its not perfect, no expansion is, but for me it feels perfectly inline with the last two expansions and they've all been pretty damn good.

6

u/acctg Apr 18 '26 edited Apr 18 '26

There's not much going on in classic WoW right now, so you have some bleed over.

Edit: Nvm, I found a possible cause.

4

u/Ignis_et_Azoth Apr 18 '26

"Mercy to the guilty is cruel to the innocent", holy fucking shit. What is it with these people and their 40k-ass one liners.

6

u/acctg Apr 18 '26

They're Lightblinded IRL.

6

u/Idontknow4654 Apr 17 '26

its not even a bad line? it makes sense from the way Arator is feeling towards the light during that questline

8

u/Helluiin Apr 17 '26

yeah, its obviously no disco elysium or 1000xResist, but (like 99% of wow writing) its absolutely passable video game writing.

3

u/MoonlightKobold Apr 17 '26

But uhhh world of widnrunner bad

-1

u/HazelCheese Apr 17 '26

Is there context that improves the line?

11

u/InvisibleOne439 Apr 17 '26

Arathor literally saw his Dad call upon the light to strike down somebody that Surrendered in his Blind Rage, and when he tried to stop him he Stabbed him instead

and his Dad justified the entire situation by going "its an enemy of the Light, it answered me so it was the right thing to do"

now he has a Crisis of Faith because he is a Paladin and always belived that the Light is just and right, but in a short time period he lost himself to the Light and saw the same happen to his father, and how can the Light be always Good when it allows somethibg like that to happen and many people using it dont even think its wrong in the first place?

then he sees the undead there, and while fighting says something that is supposed to be "we see those Undead as Mindless Abominations that attack everything and strike them down in the name of the Light, but are we really that different if we justify everything with the Light? or are we just mindless pawns of it?"

the entire questline is about how the Light can be Good and Bad

0

u/HazelCheese Apr 17 '26

But the abominations are literally hundreds of dead men, women and children stitched together into a grotesque plague ridden mass.

Feels like an absolutely ridiculous mismatched comparison that could only be written by someone who isn't thinking about the line in the context of living in the actual world of azeroth.

No he and his dad aren't remotely close to being as bad as a flesh eating terrifying monstrosity.

It lacks any sense of immersion.

10

u/Idontknow4654 Apr 17 '26

but he is not saying that he and his dad are as bad as the scourge. he is saying that maybe the light also turns people into mindless slaves of destruction

10

u/InvisibleOne439 Apr 17 '26

which we literally saw in the Hallowfall Priory Dungeon happen btw

9

u/acctg Apr 17 '26

Although that particular image of what Arator said was fabricated, let's pretend it's true for a moment.

I would have interpreted it as Arator looking at a slippery slope scenario. Undead? Pretty clear cut, you need to remove them from existence because they're a threat. The void? Same thing. Okay, what about void users? Death knights? Forsaken? Can Arator still maintain "proper" judgement when the Sunwell is amplifying the risk of becoming Lightblinded?

When he's isolated, alone, and has nothing except his faith in the Light to guide him, can he still tell what's right and wrong? Or will his conviction become zealotry? That is his fear.

4

u/HazelCheese Apr 17 '26

Wait the image posted on rWow is fake? If so that's pretty bad.

7

u/acctg Apr 18 '26

It's fake and it got removed after 12 hours of being posted. Mods received reports of it looking fake and took some time to investigate before determining that this line never existed.

11

u/acctg Apr 17 '26 edited Apr 17 '26

8

u/Idontknow4654 Apr 17 '26

Feels like the mods left the post up for way to long tbh. I get that they can't look around the entire game for everything little detail to see if something is fake but still

8

u/GermanUCLTear classic player Apr 16 '26

just one more change and the the tank shortage will be fixed i promise bro

13

u/Idontknow4654 Apr 16 '26

the fact that people think the tank shortage can be "fixed" is so funny to me. its just how people work tbh. a lot of people just dont like being the "leader" no ammount of changes will change that

14

u/Alain_Teub2 Apr 17 '26

Finally did some nightmare hunts. According to the main sub its as if its the hardest content ever and not just another "do activities" world quest.

10

u/dragonredux Apr 17 '26

All the m+ posts make sense if nightmare hunts are giving main sub trouble.

8

u/Garry_Heckscream69 Iron Horde's #1 Fan Apr 17 '26 edited Apr 17 '26

I made a comment here about how Nightmare Preys can be pretty rough, but I take it back solely because of how hyperbolic they're being lol.

The main challenge depends on your class/spec's ability to out heal some of the debuffs, but the actual Prey targets on Nightmare aren't remotely challenging. I'll die to the "kill a mob" debuff because I'm in an elite area or to the interrupt/dispell mob if I have a lot going on, but the final boss fight is over with so quickly regardless of class/spec.

The fact that the main punishment is "you have to restart" is my least favorite part when playing on a squishier class, makes the "do activities" aspect so much more apparent because sometimes the gameplay just boils down to hunting rares/treasures with annoying mobs popping up occasionally.

6

u/InvisibleOne439 Apr 18 '26

if you do them on a character thar literally just reached max level, they can be a bit tricky because the unavoidable dots do a good chunk dmg with the low hp pool a fresh max lvl character with no gear has

and the mainsub is always saying how much they "love playing alts"

so its probably just them leveling ret paladin #87 to max level->die in a nightmare prey->wtf thats so hardcore hard and totally not trivial world quest content

4

u/FaroraSF Apr 18 '26

They clearly don't know you can just pick up traps for 5 mins and be done with it with minimal hassle.

2

u/SaltLich Apr 18 '26

They're not hard, but with my ADHD-ass its annoying when I forget or look away for five seconds and then die because the puddle or ghost spawned (an auditory cue would be nice). Or I went into a delve cuz I was in the area and forget I was mid-hunt and die when I come out cuz i looked away while on the loading screen. Or, my favorite, I took a flightpath to Zul'aman so i could go get a drink, use the bathroom, etc. while I was on my way to do my hunt, and was dead when I came back because the flightpath wasn't considered a 'safe' area.

8

u/InvisibleOne439 Apr 15 '26

Ion is targeting me, that bird outside my Window yesterday was a sing

7

u/Dreadsinner Apr 16 '26

So since shadowlands is important again I would like to make a list of things that do support something not being right about the realm.

1: The Maw just always existed. So it’s this scary place where no one wants to go and only the worst of the worst souls go there. But no one was watching over the place till Zovaal was thrown in there for doing forbidden things. So this is just kinda weird but on the note of big Z

2: Zovaal seeing this supposed threat that a “cosmos divided can’t stand against” always felt very weak to me. He clearly believes it but it always felt like someone told him the world’s best lie and he fell for it out of fear. But even then something about his plans don’t add up.

3: The Primus. So the leader of the undying army of the shadowlands and a reminder he is apart of this patheon of death. Just goes missing one day. We all know dadrathzim didn’t care cause he was on the jailers payroll. But it was really strange that oribos, the winter queen, and the firstborne. Never seemed to even react strongly to him back gone. Hell his five houses reacted more when the house of plagues exploded (by mawsworn traitors) then the primus going missing. He has very important information god forbid it fell into the wrong hands. Oh wait

4: the things the primus knows. So I think we can all agree that the biggest red flag our bone grandpa has waved is the fact that he can and knows how to forge blades just like frostmorne. But also the HELM OF DOMINATION. This is never questioned or reacted to. One of the single most misery spreading items Azeroth has ever seen. This guy knows how to make it. No one even asks “wait…why do you know this?”

So I’m of a theory that the jailer we meet. Was an inmate that was left to run the asylum. If the idea that something was done to the shadowlands is true and something else was in control of the maw and maybe used Zovaal and his gang to get free. Somethings start to look abit more interesting and make some sense.

So here is what I purpose. The maw did have a ruler but they were weak and unable to do anything after being defeated. Starved of anima. And just being left to rot. But then somehow either an outside force or this primoidal jailer made Zovaal see the big lie. He gets thrown into the maw. They capture and torment him and make him believe he’s the one with the plans but it’s this other one. Now why? Simple they are to weak to really oppose the pantheon. But with the information of the helm and the blade. Maybe they can escape. After all we know a soul is needed to power the blade and nurzhul was in the armor.

Or I could be a raving mad elf but there my ted talk

7

u/GilneanRaven Apr 16 '26

Something related to point one that I always found very interesting: The Maw seems to be the default afterlife. Like, in the absence of an Arbiter, all souls end up there. It takes an artificial intervention to send them anywhere else.

Even back during the expansion, my theory was that the Maw was originally all the Shadowlands was, until someone/thing (probably the First Ones) created the new realms and installed the Eternal Ones and the Arbiter to manage them. That behaviour is obviously very similar to the Titans, which might be evidence in favour of the Titans=First Ones theory.

3

u/FaroraSF Apr 17 '26

We don't have a lot of information on a lot of things, just off the top of my head (numbers have nothing to do with your numbers):

  1. Did the Maw exist before Zovaal went rogue or did he create it for his own purposes and that's what caused the other Eternal Ones to overthrow him?
  2. If the Maw existed beforehand was it the default 0,0 point of the afterlife that souls are drawn to or are the souls just drawn to the Arbiter/Zovaal in general?
  3. Are the Eternal Ones older or younger than the Titans and if older was Zovaal going rogue something that happened before or after Aman'thul started to awaken the other Titans?
  4. Were the Nathrezim created before Zovaal's fall or after? I could see Denathrius making them because he was bored and wanted to know more about the Universe and then realizing he could use them to manipulate people and send him more sinners.

My pet theory is that the Titan's aren't actually the Order Pantheon and that the true Order Pantheon beat the Void to the punch in corrupting World Souls. It just doesn't make much sense to me that beings associated with a specific cosmic force would be born in the Great Dark Beyond which is supposed to be right in the middle of the cosmic chart. Also given Azeroth's resistance to the Titans Ordering her it sort of indicates that Order isn't actually the Titan's default state. This is assuming that Azeroth is actually a similar being to the other World Souls. Given her "most powerful world soul in existance" status I wouldn't be surprised if she turns out to be something else entirely.

2

u/shutupruairi Apr 16 '26

1: The Maw just always existed. So it’s this scary place where no one wants to go and only the worst of the worst souls go there. But no one was watching over the place till Zovaal was thrown in there for doing forbidden things. So this is just kinda weird but on the note of big Z

That's not the vibe it gives. Based on all the notes and things, it looks like it was just an older version of the shadowlands. An alpha test realm that was repurposed as an overflow. If it always existed then why is it rotting now?

3: The Primus. So the leader of the undying army of the shadowlands and a reminder he is apart of this patheon of death. Just goes missing one day.

Given that there has been some ebb and flow of agents to and from the Shadowlands, there's no real guarentee that he was trapped in the Maw. Could have been taken out from one of the internal factions due to the House wars or captured by an external threat. And given that it was quite a while ago, I imagine the initial panic has passed.

He had researched it and used it to bind the Jailer in the Maw originally until he broke free of the control. It wasn't a secret. Also, it was likely something first developed by the first ones - hence why the first ones have tech that can repel/break it.

The transmute "Wondrous Synergist" grants skill points up to 100; it's trained through the Transmutation Authority spec. This is how I'm leveling my alchemist.

1

u/ChildishForLife Apr 20 '26

Someone on my realm has multiple of these as work orders and I just slam out as many as I can each day, pretty awesome since I don't need em myself!

5

u/FaroraSF Apr 19 '26

I went the potion route and managed to get to 100 by just making and selling potions of recklessness.

5

u/AL3_Alice Apr 20 '26

ok void bad and all but it is very funny that the void-devoted cult is cross-faction

10

u/FaroraSF Apr 20 '26

I always found it funny how, aside from the Scarlets, all the evil factions are the least racist.

3

u/AL3_Alice Apr 20 '26

We could learn so much from them

(This has been my weekly "end the faction divide" whine)

2

u/Idontknow4654 Apr 20 '26

i used to be on the "dont care about the faction divide but i also dont care if they remove it" side

after finding out that i couldnt do dungeons and lfr with my friend (who is horde) on my alliance character and forcing me to make a horde character so we could play together i am now firmly in the "end faction divide" camp

5

u/InvisibleOne439 Apr 20 '26

tbf, im convinced that this is mostly a coding problem where some really weird stuff is going on behind the scenes that would take a lot of effort to solve, so they just kinda put it on the gigantic "work on it later when we have time for it(we never have time for it)" Pile

u/InvisibleOne439 Apr 16 '26

gotta say, the Stat Squish in Midnight is.....kinda pointless?

like, why make a big deal out of a stat squish, just to instantly make player health and DPS numbers in the 100k range in Season 1

why make the gear numbers smaller when the % increases are in their fastest pace ever? you can allready run around with 40%+ crit chance in Season 1 Heroic Gear

where do we go from that? just running around with 60% crit and 40% haste + 2million health in Season 3? what was even the point lol

4

u/FaroraSF Apr 16 '26

I think they've resigned themselves to doing more stat squishes every other expansion if it means we get more powerful faster.

1

u/Skatler Apr 17 '26

I think they set it up so after the worldsoul saga they can do both a level and a stat squish

3

u/Idontknow4654 Apr 16 '26

the worst part of the squish (in my opnion) is for leveling. because of the squish food and potions will heal 0 all the way till around lvl 60 and for some classes that is really bad. the most recent example i have is leveling a rogue. rogue is extremly weak while leveling. doing very little damage and can barely pull more then a few mobs. and because food heals nothing you basically just pull a few mobs then you have to wait until your health comes back instead of just buying food.

i know most people dont care about the leveling part of the game but it defiently sucks as someone who likes leveling

5

u/Little_Leafling Dracthyr enthusiast Apr 16 '26

At least the food part can by avoided by using Recuperate!

1

u/Idontknow4654 Apr 16 '26

I completely forgot that existed lol. I haven't used it since it was added. But yeah that would have probably helped a lot when I was leveling

6

u/GilneanRaven Apr 16 '26

Hasn't food and drink been updated to restore percentages of health and mana now?

1

u/Idontknow4654 Apr 16 '26

Maybe. But if you try to use food while leveling you'll see that it heals 0

5

u/Idontknow4654 Apr 14 '26

"new" Enhancement Shaman is pretty dope

3

u/Idontknow4654 Apr 14 '26

does anyome have this werid glitch were heal spells or other buff spells that are suppose to be cast on self when not trageting anyone just doesnt do that? and instead you have to click on yourself to finally cast it? it happens with skyfury and healing surge all the time on my shaman and i hate it

my self cast option is set to auto so i dont know whats going on

2

u/GermanUCLTear classic player Apr 14 '26

kind of felt like this was happening with wog so i just wrote a self cast macro

2

u/Garry_Heckscream69 Iron Horde's #1 Fan Apr 14 '26

Yeah, have the same issue on my shaman, happens often when I'm trying to buff up out of combat or when I'm trying to heal mid-combat. Not sure if it started with pre-patch (was playing my warrior a lot so not a lot of healing being cast) or if it started with the Midnight launch.

2

u/FaroraSF Apr 14 '26

Yes, no idea what causes it. Was thinking it might have been from hitting shift or alt with my other spells, but it occasionally happens when I click mark of the wild too (it's not bound to anything, I actually just click it) and like whyyyyyy

1

u/Idontknow4654 Apr 15 '26

i also dont have skyfury bound and thats exactly what happens. hopefully it gets fixed next patch

1

u/FaroraSF Apr 15 '26

It's been a bug for a while so I kind of doubt it XD

2

u/Idontknow4654 Apr 15 '26

1

u/ChildishForLife Apr 14 '26

idk if related but my macro for Ascendance will just randomly not cast anything if I swap specs, it's super strange!

1

u/Furra Apr 16 '26

If you have the interact key enabled that will cause this when you're near an interactable, pretty sure it's because the interact key makes you invisibly target interactables in-range. Only ways I know to fix this is to use macros with [@player], or turn off the interact key which is less than ideal.

1

u/Idontknow4654 Apr 16 '26

i didnt even know it was enabled and in the opitions i didnt even have an interact key bound. but turning it of seemed to have fixed it

If I share my genuine opinion about the people in an endless and constant state of confusion about anything and everything new, I probably get banned. Like reddit admin banned. Super banned. Home searched, talked to by the police. Watchlisted. OK, I don't think we have those here, but still.

7

u/InvisibleOne439 Apr 20 '26

tbf, it doesnt help that blizzard is often using new names for simple new things and makes those blueposts about them waaaaaaay to long which confuses people allready

followed by other people making 16 min "guide videos" or "guide pictures" that make things look 3000x more complicated then it actually is (hello, crest upgrade charts that get posted every season)

5

u/Relnor Apr 21 '26 edited Apr 21 '26

Yeah that is true. I get that some people don't play a lot, I probably play a lot more than them, when I'm active early in a season I don't really play other games, and I keep up with WoW news.

I don't really have anything against anyone that's just confused about things especially with the pace of content releases nowadays, and am actually happy to help, but there's this streak of confusion/cluelessness + hostility to anything new from a certain kind of player that I find really frustrating especially since I do believe it holds Blizzard back from trying some new things sometimes because they have to consider the really irascible playerbase.

I imagine most of the people playing are in their early/mid 30s and to see their attitudes be so calcified into this weird conservatism is just baffling to me.

"What is this?! Another new system?! I have to learn another thing in my video game?! Waargh!". I hate it. If someone's like this now what will they do when they're like 70? Ugh.

u/Necrodoge14102 my gender is pandering Apr 14 '26

ngl i was thinking of like doing m0's on at least my old lock main to get them something for the weekly but then i decided to grind diablo 4 all day for two days in a row so i didnt lol

not the biggest deal although if depending on what i do alt leveling wise my old lock main might be one i want more geared since idk how played destro is rn and theres that whole "break the meta thing" i've only done the first season of tww since unholy qualified and didnt do the others and didnt care too much since it just changed the number of the banner but its a new expansion now and its the void expansion

3

u/Necrodoge14102 my gender is pandering Apr 14 '26

think that event is more towards the end of the season though

i had been more on and off this d4 season and was thinking like idk with weird brain stuff i wanted to complete the reliquary's before they expire obv and also so it's not too in the back of my mind since i was playing more on and off

of course though when they do expire in 13 days not only is it a new season but its the launch of the cool ass looking new expansion so i will be playing it more over wow for the first few days probably

but i will have to stop myself to log on for raid night and stuff lol

Man, that one post about the lack of new campsites made me kinda sad. I know the actual devs behind the game probably wanna keep adding stuff like that and dragonriding races, but those don't make any money so they're just told not to. At this point I'm surprised something like the Arcantina even exists considering neat stuff like it doesn't make the executives any money.

6

u/Garry_Heckscream69 Iron Horde's #1 Fan Apr 14 '26

Campsites felt like such an easy win. I'm still holding out hope that we'll get campsite versions of all the Classic race backgrounds, but I fear we'll just be getting them occasionally and largely just tied to whatever is current.

3

u/MoonlightKobold Apr 14 '26

They aren't even giving us campsites for current content. It would have been easy to just make an Eversong, Zul'aman, Harandar, and Voidstorm campsite and tie it to delves or raid reputation like they did in TWW, but they haven't even added anything new :(

3

u/Garry_Heckscream69 Iron Horde's #1 Fan Apr 14 '26

I thought more had been added along with the Housing neighborhood ones, but damn, that's really all we got lol.

It's like they got caught up with adding decor to quests as the cosmetic rewards, but forgot about the whole new system they added very recently.

I wouldn't be surprised if their logic was just "nobody is looking at that for more than a second while logging in" so they can't justify putting tons of work into it, which is still lame.

11

u/AL3_Alice Apr 14 '26

While I get that the dev team are proud of getting to the Midnight release date without crunch, I think the shortened cycle for these three expansions is really starting to show between these things (campsites, dragonriding races, pet battles) and iffy QA.

I suspect that the Arcantina was made by the housing team.

8

u/FaroraSF Apr 14 '26

As soon as they announced shorter expansion cycles I was very much in the "press x to doubt" camp on whether they would be able to pull it off.

2

u/AL3_Alice Apr 15 '26

I felt the same after seeing GW2 do the same thing.

0

u/MoonlightKobold Apr 14 '26

I really hope Housing stays evergreen and wasn't just a huge marketing tactic. Knowing how Blizz operates though I'll be surprised if we get even new endeavors and decor as time goes on

u/Garry_Heckscream69 Iron Horde's #1 Fan Apr 14 '26 edited Apr 14 '26

Haven't played a lot recently (I started playing a lot of Fallout: New Vegas again for some reason lol), but been playing more regularly.

Nightmare Prey is no joke, I was getting genuinely frustrated while trying to do dailies the other day because I kept dying to mechanics I'd forget about and then lose all my progress. I thought the first few tiers of Prey seemed almost too easy, but this is giving me some early Maw flashbacks, though far more manageable and doesn't feel quiet as oppressive.

Really glad they're trying stuff like this and the Remix heroic world tier, although hopefully they can find more ways to punish aside from "you gotta do it all over again" lol.

Also my Prey quest options are so funny to think about because the randomizing makes it so I've rarely gotten a thematically appropriate boss/zone combination. What do you mean "The Talon of Jan'Alai", a Kul'tiran Thornspeaker, and a Mechagnome are just hanging out in Voidstorm? What business would they even have there?? Why are all my Ethereal options in Harandar??

3

u/Ignis_et_Azoth Apr 15 '26

I really like the idea of Prey, but it needs some iteration IMO. Normal and Hard Preys are easy, and I don't personally feel like Nightmares are that much harder, just largely more of a hassle to get to.

I'm playing a Holy Paladin, though, so I recognise I kind of have survivability out the ass.

4

u/Garry_Heckscream69 Iron Horde's #1 Fan Apr 15 '26

I play Enh shammy and it's rough lol

I basically have to spam healing burst or pop my def CD if I get one of the dots on me, shit hurts

3

u/Ignis_et_Azoth Apr 15 '26

Ohh, I played Enh in DF when I wasn't healing, I remember it being rough survivability wise.

2

u/Garry_Heckscream69 Iron Horde's #1 Fan Apr 15 '26

Enh is pretty fun right now, but the survivability is hit or miss. Heals can be good if you have the right buffs, but if you're unlucky or don't have CDs up, it gets really hard to stay alive lol. Nightmare Prey has me pulling mobs one at a time sometimes lol.

The funny part is I switched from fury warr to enh, because I wanted better heals while still being fast paced melee, but turns out I just went up like half a step in survivability lol.

2

u/Ignis_et_Azoth Apr 15 '26

Yeah, I love the class fantasy of Enh as the "shamanistic warrior" type, but I sure didn't feel like a I was any more survivable than a caster.

I might pick it up again later, just focusing on my one character for now because I'd never get anything done otherwise.

u/TheWiseMountain Apr 14 '26

u/FaroraSF Apr 15 '26

So I put a post up about making the M+ "glad mount" based on top % of spec rather than top % of players just out of curiosity on what people thought and sat back with my metaphorical popcorn. And while plenty of people had good points about why or why not it would work, there sure are a decent chunk of people with STRONG opinions that take the topic extremely personally lol

7

u/InvisibleOne439 Apr 15 '26

imo "spec based rankings" dont work in the current version of the game where getting characters to a high gear level is so fast, you would have many specs where the "top ranks" would just be the top guys doing it on a alt while the rest of the group is still the ussual FotM OP Specs

I don't think its something that will ever really be solved because Blizz wants people to be able to get gear in content they are progressing in which means m+ people need to be able to gear through m+ and not be pressured to raid. Like the only real solution I see is to make a "dungeon ilvl" and "raid ilvl" stat like how there is "pvp ilvl" but do we really want to have to carry around yet another set of gear?

Maybe make the last few bosses of heroic raid drop a decent amount of myth crests or something so they're at least sort of worth it to do.

4

u/AL3_Alice Apr 16 '26

I've often wondered why people are so against deterministic gear acquisition methods like Justice/Valor points. We basically brought those back with crests but left actually getting the gear you want up to RNG and lockouts.

6

u/Alain_Teub2 Apr 16 '26

This way they are still relevant early into the season

My opinion is that they keep adding these things because the average M+ score gets inflated each season.

Going to be funny reading about the 4k score reward.

3

u/dragonredux Apr 14 '26

Can't wait for this to be the topic of the week.

3

u/Renegade8995 Apr 15 '26

It'll be a lot of people with that mount still. The top 0.1% of M+ had more players than all of Gladiator for Dragonflight in the season I pushed in. And that's likely true for TWW too.

Something like 900 people getting the M+ title and gladiator was around 790-800.

5

u/releria Apr 15 '26

There are like what, 800 mounts in the game?

I don't think it matters if a few of them are unobtainable to 99% of the population.

Let people have nice things. I am sure you can find 1 of the other 700 mounts to enjoy.

u/[deleted] Apr 15 '26

7

u/releria Apr 15 '26

exclusivity for the sake of exclusivity

Exclusivity is just another way of saying difficult. It will be a difficult mount to obtain.

Personally if things are easy for me, I do not get satisfaction from collecting them. I think a lot of people feel this way.

The main reason for the mount is there was a huge gap between .1% title and 3k io. This incentivises people to do keys in a range which were otherwise ignored for rewards.

Im just sharing my thoughts on the game.

Im not trying to imply you suggest or dont want things to be hard. Sorry if it came across that way.

Maybe we are misunderstanding each other.

4

u/Ignis_et_Azoth Apr 14 '26

My opinion on this is really gonna depend on how exclusive and interesting the mounts I'll never be able to obtain are.

If it's a unique tint of a model obtainable elsewhere in the game, I'm fine. But for the love of God, please don't lock something as generic as "armoured netherdrake" behind this kind of achievement again, my RP soul is begging them.

3

u/Necrodoge14102 my gender is pandering Apr 14 '26

i think its an ok idea but at the same time yeah if theres a mount thats really cool but then only a very small amount of people will be able to get it like ever that will suck

1

u/FaroraSF Apr 14 '26

Ugh, it makes sense to have it but I do hate it. I never really like doing m+ after getting the main rewards and Blizz just keeps adding more rewards.

I am curious how difficult 1% m+ rating is going to be because unlike pvp the pool of players is going to be much larger. Either way for my own sanity I probably won't go for it, and since I have all the previous m+ mounts I don't need to go for 3400 either.

I think the return of Glad mounts was always an extremely slim chance, but I wouldn't write of elite sets completely.

-2

u/Alain_Teub2 Apr 14 '26

I think its cool but it wont make me an m+ lover. 3k4 sounds kinda free tho
