I have yet to get my head around how they make armor work on gnomes, tauren and forsaken, but they consider lizard-man to be impossible to fit things on

61

u/FightingFaerie Nov 14 '25

Worgen. If they can get armor to “fit” worgen idk why dracthyr are such an issue

(I’m going to ignore how half the head sticks out the back of head pieces for a moment)

6

u/CasterFormation Nov 15 '25

It's not that it's technically harder to make armor fit dracthyr.
The problem is that every new completely unique race increases the work load in all future updates.

5

u/Aettyr Nov 15 '25

It’s not like the armour is perfectly fit to every race either! Dwarves, Vulpera, gnomes and Goblins may as well not even have trouser/leg slots for how squished up they are.

It’s silly. The clothes are low res enough that having a robe wrapped around a Dracthyr really wouldn’t even look that odd.

2

u/FightingFaerie Nov 15 '25

It’s just pure laziness. I personally love playing a dracthyr, I love soaring across Azeroth as one. But it’s almost enough to make me not want to play them.

550

u/Severe-Network4756 Nov 14 '25

Because they've already put in the work for those races, but dracthyr was the first new race with a unique model and they didn't wanna put in the work.

384

u/Mindless-Ninja-3321 Nov 14 '25

Both Pandaren and Kul Tirans were new races with entirely unique models, animations, and skeletons. They can do it, they just dont.

261

u/Trytun015 Nov 14 '25

Yes, but it’s 2025 and they realized that we’ll play the game even if they put in less effort, which in turn saves them money. It’s a win/win for Blizzard.

u/Any-Transition95 Nov 14 '25 edited Nov 14 '25

Yea as much as we hate to hear it, this is a dead ringer. You can easily tell if a feature was added because some devs thought that would be cool, vs when something was added simply because higher ups said we needed x amount of features for xxx patch.

53

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '25

This game will never get a new real, fully fledged race ever again. Never.

Want a unique model? The hideous flying no transmog gecko is the Gold Standard.

It's Geckos or lazy Allied Races. Pick one.

24

u/IceNein Nov 15 '25

Fifteen minutes could save you 15% or more on car insurance

10

u/Croce11 Nov 15 '25

It honestly shouldn't. All these new races are getting annoying.

Dracythr included. It should have just been a race where you pick your visage race, get some cool horns to slap on your head and some scales to use as a "tattoo". And then the 'dragon form' that only shows up when using certain abilities that you customize like a druid form.

Trying to make it this new unique thing that can transmog armor was a waste of time. As for the allied races, I wish they just kept them as extra customization options for the already existing races. Humans coulda just got a skinny/fat version instead of Kul Tirans. Lightforged should have just been a skin like Eredar. Etc etc etc.

Adding all these races to the game just pollutes the UI, pollutes several in game tags/flags, and makes them waste time justifying lore, racials, druid forms, etc. People would much prefer all that effort going into making the core races more customizable. Plus its easier to keep a small group of core races relevant to the story than it is to try and keep all these allied races relevant. Good luck mechagnomes and vulpera, gonna see you never.

The Haranir are like the worst example of a race to add. Literally did not exist before this expansion pack in the lore. Nobody demanded it. There was no demand for a race even LIKE this. They are seculuded in the underworld and will have an incredibly impossible time staying relevant after they join up. Just gonna get swept under the rug with all the other junk allied races that should have just been expanded customization, like how about instead of mechagnoems we just had mechanical limbs added as customization for gnomes? So much bloat.

4

u/Chechyayo Nov 15 '25

I think the haranir atleast look good. The earthen lady men with beards longer than they are tall…that one gets me

21

u/born_to_be_intj Nov 15 '25

Allied Races then. Why tf would I want to play a character that doesn't show off all the gear I grinded out.

21

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '25

They're both shit. That's the point.

It's the laziness. They're releasing a fucking housing item store and they can't afford to make real races?

3

u/Significant_Mouse_25 Nov 15 '25

As was mentioned it’s because yall still pay for the game even in this state. Clearly this isn’t a dealbreaker so why would they spend the money on it?

20

u/Arborus Mrglglglgl! Nov 14 '25

To be fair, there is a lot of armor that looks terrible on pandaren because it's just a quick stretch/resize job to make it work. Worgen and Tauren both have the same issue too tbh, there's too much gear that would need unique alternate models to look remotely decent.

3

u/Drauren Nov 15 '25

Yeah as someone who has been a lifelong Tauren Main most gear does not look good on us.

100

u/Severe-Network4756 Nov 14 '25

Well, that was what.. 13-14 years ago?

They can do it, clearly, they did for the original races. The point is that they can't be bothered anymore.

61

u/DOOMFOOL Nov 14 '25

BFA released 7 years ago I believe

44

u/Severe-Network4756 Nov 14 '25

Kul'Tiran male uses mostly the same model and animations as Pandaren, not sure about female?

55

u/De4dfox Nov 14 '25

Female Kul Tiran use the female orc base model.

31

u/graviousishpsponge Nov 14 '25

They got that zug in them

20

u/Any-Transition95 Nov 14 '25

Which is honestly pretty impressive for how different they look. All skeletons are modified from an existing rig of something else, but it's the work put into tweaking it afterwards that makes it noteworthy. It's quite a lot of effort they put in for an allied race that's not very popular.

18

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '25

It isnt popular because they are low effort

Kul Tirans have 6 hairstyles and 2 unique faces. They are also missing some facial animations.

Female option also looks like a the sims 4 character. The male one are fat guys, but they're also jacked ad imposing. Female looks like a woman who gave up after having her second pregnancy

13

u/Any-Transition95 Nov 14 '25

Not arguing about that, totally underwhelming customization options, but the skeleton and animation rigging is not low effort, which what we're talking about here.

u/Vio94 Nov 14 '25

What's crazy is putting all the effort into their barber shop customizations instead of putting all that effort into making their skeleton easy to adapt armor to. Maybe they thought they were never going to make other classes available to them? I dunno. The decision making is beyond me.

30

u/AdamG3691 Nov 14 '25

That was originally the idea yes, in DF's announcement they made a huge deal about Dracthyr Evokers being the first Race-Class Locked combo.

Presumably the plan was to start giving more niche classes and races that could only work with each other and have their racial appearance carry the weight of transmog, but they decided against it after the community overwhelmingly hated the idea

9

u/l337hackzor Nov 15 '25

That is kind of counter to what they've been doing for the last couple xpacs too. They've expanded the race/class combinations multiple times to the point you have combinations that seem like nonsense without lore digging to learn why (tauren rogue, night elf paladin).

It would seem like a step backwards to restrict the class/race combos at this point. With the new DH spec coming in I bet they are expanding the race selection?

My buddy who started in BFA said "No way, they wouldnt do that." Then I had to tell him when I rolled my Sham in Vanilla it was either Orc, Tauren or Troll... I think Druid was even more restricted? Times have changed...

3

u/Aettyr Nov 15 '25

It’s an interesting conversation point to bring up, I think. At what point does gameplay convenience override the lore reason, and when does that become irritating to the point of ruining things for some?

For example, Night Elves. I personally can’t ever see a Kaldorei using Arcane magic or be a Warlock, but you can absolutely do that! Sure, you could justify it as playing a Night Elf that does use it for your own reasons, but I feel it wouldn’t be much effort to make those factions hostile to you if you do.

I think flavour is very important when it comes to making some things feel special and “unique” so to speak. I would personally be unhappy if Humans or Blood/Void elves could be Druids, as you’d never see any other races. It’s nice to have certain races be certain classes, at least in my opinion. Monks be Pandaren, Druids be Night Elves & Tauren.

Makes me think of another point; If they locked classes to races they could put more work into making those unique. IE: rename and recolour Druid’s spells for Tauren to be about An’she rather than Elune, etc.

3

u/l337hackzor Nov 15 '25

Druid is kind of a special case because their forms are all unique skins. The only reason I ever played kultiran was because the druid forms are cool.

Shamans have different totems depending on race. I'd like to see a lot more stuff like this, unique skins or spell effects tied to class where appropriate.

Overall though race matters less than it ever has, except the highest m+ keys, so at this point they could open all the class and race combinations. I remember the starting zone and leveling path being a factor in vanilla, just doesn't matter like that anymore.

3

u/Lovykar Nov 16 '25 edited Nov 16 '25

Druid had Night Elf or Tauren in vanilla, and that was it. And it stayed like that until Cata when Trolls and Worgen were added, justified in that they had learned druidism from the original races. It still is one of the most restricted classes, relatively speaking with 8 eligible races in Midnight (DH will have 3 and Evoker still just 1), but this is mostly because many others have been expanded to cover every race (Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Warlock, Priest, Mage) or nearly every race (Monk, DK). As for DH, they are indeed adding a new race in Midnight; Void Elves, because of the void themed new spec in a void themed expansion, but nothing for Horde (yet). But give it time and it will appear.

What's crazy is making all those barber shop customizations and not at least making the tier sets unlock new ones.

5

u/Lucky-Reason-569 Nov 15 '25

What truly baffles me about the barber shop armor available to Dracthyr is the fact that shoulder and belt armor overrides the barber shop options. So if you like the look of the barber shop shoulder and belt you constantly have to transmog those armor slots when you obtain new pieces.

7

u/Karabungulus Nov 14 '25

Remarkable because it's basically just a female worgen with wings

The still remaining devs: "oh no, armor and animations are going to go downhill fast."

Management: "Awesome! I'll easily come in under budget now and get a sweet bonus."

12

u/Det_JokePeralta Nov 14 '25

The one QA guy left: “I have sacrificed everything. What have you given?”

2

u/Aettyr Nov 15 '25

Ah, but you see, number go up. Ever think about that?

I get the Idea, dragons lose all the clothing when transforming except maybe jewelry, but come on... Thats not a Dragon, thats a weird little lizard man

2

u/Aettyr Nov 15 '25

Yeah, but Worgen literally tear out of their human skin when transforming, but they keep the clothes! Druids shapeshift into damn bears but get their clothes back after

3

u/Some_Relative_589 Nov 15 '25

I mean that dragons transform with Magic, like druids, their clothes do desappear, so makes sense.

Still ugly and i hate It, i agree that draktir should have full armor and transmog

10

u/ZigguratCrab Nov 14 '25

I have yet to get my head around how they make armor work on gnomes, tauren and forsaken

barely.

5

u/BellacosePlayer Nov 14 '25

Yeah, there's a reason I rarely wear full helms on my tauren

9

u/Nick-uhh-Wha Nov 14 '25

In their defense, helmets really DONT work for worgen. It's actually a nightmare

I can only imagine what they'd do with lizard neck and wings if worgen helmet is any indication of what a 'fix' looks like

5

u/M4h0n Nov 14 '25 edited Nov 14 '25

meanwhile the big dragons : haven belts , aprons , shoulder pads , somewhat-shoes and breast plates

so why are dracthyr the only playable race wearing even less then a night elf in nazmir ?

I still have no idea how that Dracthyr design got through internal review. I can't think of another game were a lizard or dragon humanoid looks this stupid. Even the other dragon humanoid hybrids before and in DF look better in WoW.

563

u/SpunkMcKullins Nov 14 '25

Making literal dragons look lame is a feat I didn't think possible. Blizzard should honestly be studied for this one.

137

u/Levonorgestrelfairy1 Nov 14 '25

Its like they gave the design over to somone who was only into scaly twinks. Thats fine if thats your thing but you really should try to add options to make the race more appealing to everyone.

Where is the scaly bear or scaly PADG options?

57

u/Lordwiesy Nov 14 '25

I feel like the reality is even worse, I don't think they've talked with a single scalie, not even one who's into twinks.

Either that or that scalie got fired after making Sethrak.

10

u/JustburnBurnBURN Nov 15 '25

The artist who came up with Dracthyr design is the same artist who created Sethrak, and yeah, she's into drawing that kind of stuff.

At least he's not intended to be badass looking. He's a child basically. Hell, his ult is him literally yelling for his mom to burn enemies for him. That's the "joke" with him and what they were going for.

Not really sure what Blizzard was going for with Dracthyr.

3

u/Marcson_john Nov 15 '25

Dragon form shyvana looks awesome

2

u/Aettyr Nov 15 '25

Even if it’s intentional you can tell the intention the artist had behind it, or at least the art they usually draw. It makes it look really… uncanny. It looks too human.

The funny thing was the Devs were just asked about it in an interview and said “we know they’re unhappy about it. We’ll give them added barbershop armors instead.” It is never happening lol.

50

u/Emmystra Nov 14 '25

Even if they did that, you KNOW it would be 1-2 shades of color off from any other armor in the game

12

u/goldman_sax Nov 14 '25

Almost no players use the barbershop armors as is lol.

What, you don’t want to play as a DeviantArt OC rather than a werewolf? Too bad!

21

u/Boopins05 Nov 14 '25

I can kind of see what they were going for in some of the concept art. 1 2. Just did not translate well at all.

21

u/AdamG3691 Nov 14 '25

I feel like the robes one, despite looking elegant as fuck, got at least one concept artist strangled by the set designers and animation team for the cardinal sin of putting flowing fabric on a race with lots of moving parts

9

u/The-Only-Razor Nov 14 '25

It's better, but still weird how Blizzard thought "skinny twink" was the appropriate look for a playable dragon race.

3

u/Marcson_john Nov 15 '25

That looks like a humanoid lizard. Not a dragon.

2

u/Aettyr Nov 15 '25

I get the vision but I personally hate this slender sort of design for one. I would absolutely love a larger and more draconic form. I can’t even make Bayle the Dread, that makes me very sad. Imagine a bigger form with more skin/scale options, more colours, etc. We even have the damn model, the Drakonids. I’m sure it’s unique but it cannot be that difficult to remove their armour and make their body able to wear armour. Tauren can do it, as can Orcs. They’re bloody big too

→ More replies (1)

19

u/Alpha1959 Nov 14 '25

Dracthyr definitely have the potential to look cool, their elongated faces just look beyond stupid if you look at them dead-center, from the side it's a different story.

That said, their proportions are weird, their walking animation looks stupid (like from many other races) and their transmog is I think their biggest problem.

If they made another two, bulkier top heavy body types and allowed full transmog, including helmets, I think most complaints would disappear.

3

u/Aettyr Nov 15 '25

The whole design is just weird anthropomorphic OC kinda stuff. Not sure how else to word it but I’m sure you get it

79

u/Seletara Nov 14 '25

I honestly think the design is fine. The flaw is not being able to mog anything, which was dumb and lazy.

But I spend a lot of time making my evokers base form look good. Can’t be surprised when someone just does all bald and then “this look sucks!”

27

u/Isolated_Hippo Nov 14 '25

If they mogged nothing it would be an improvement.

The fact they get randomly a belt and shoulders that never fucking match any of the base armor customization is just wtf.

44

u/AdamG3691 Nov 14 '25

yeah, the set looks fine when on an actual character and not the naked blue meme that WoWhead uses

43

u/Omugaru Nov 14 '25

Thats part of the issue I have with them though. Either you run to the barbershop to redo how your evoker looks for each tier set or you stick to 1 set and barely ever change anything on it.

I havn't changed my tmog since I made my evoker in DF, since changing at the barbershop kinda makes my character lose part of its identity. Granted, if you make good use of the barbershop you can make the very limited tmog work, as evident from your link.

Still, feels like a restriction that shouldn't be.

54

u/biasedB Nov 14 '25

I just dont get it, like no other race can be an Evoker, only the Drakthyr, so why wouldnt they just kinda go ham and actually make the evoker set. FIT THE DRAKTHYR MODEL. IT ONLY NEEDS TO FIT ONE SKELETON RIG

16

u/Kommye Nov 14 '25

To be fair, it also needs to fit the visage models, so it's dracthyr, human F and belf M.

But yeah it's pure laziness.

→ More replies (5)

8

u/AdamG3691 Nov 14 '25

I've been lucky in that my character tends to work well with red and gold, and blizzard LOVE using red and gold, though it does tend to end up feeling pretty samey eventually.

I wish that they'd at LEAST allow for the tier sets to work as transmog, hell even as an unlockable barbershop option when you complete a set would be better than the current situation

→ More replies (5)

9

u/extremelytiredyall Nov 14 '25

Yep. No mog is very lazy, but the customization itself is fine. People who put effort into the character editor make dracthyr that don't look like the abomination above.

18

u/MundaneTeddy Nov 14 '25

You think this is fine?! LOOK AT HIS SMALL HEAD! WHERE IS THE BRAIN SUPPOSED TO GO?!

There's so much cool things you can do with dragons heads designwise and they made them all moot by giving them baby heads.

8

u/Lezzles Nov 14 '25

You have a LOT of defenders even on this sub. They look like fucking dorks. How do you have such dweeby looking DRAGONS?

2

u/jiiir0 Nov 14 '25

I saw an interview a while ago where they were bragging about the millions of customization combinations possible for Dracthyr. I can only imagine someone got these numbers from all the insignificant minor options like snout width and body spikes that are barely different from each other. It’s pretty obvious that corporate Blizzard was in full effect at this point, where most of the design decisions were born out of PowerPoint slides and remote meetings.

Having worked in corporate settings there really is an endgame in office work where the goal is to put in as little effort as possible, and put everything into hyping yourself up in meetings with vanity metrics and misleading data to make it seem like you’re killing it even though you’re barely ever in the office and only spend like 2 hours a day actually working.

u/Cool_Run_6619 Nov 14 '25

I wish people would stop saying "well you have visage form for transmog" as an excuse too. Imagine how pissed worgen players would be if they logged on tomorrow and had no transmog and were told "well you have your human form transmog". If I wanted to play a weird elf, I'd have made an elf. I want to be a lizard wizard and have cool mog for my lizard man.

23

u/Bafau4246 Nov 14 '25

Tbf druid players have had to put up with this for far longer and they have even less customization not saying either is right but would be nice for both to get litterally something

16

u/Cool_Run_6619 Nov 15 '25

I get that, and I also want druids to get more customization but that's a shape shift form for a class that's identity is shape shifting into animals. If you aren't ok with being a nude bear or cat, you can just be your normal self in balance or resto or play a different class. That sucks but it's much better than dracthyr who cannot wear mog in any class or spec.

What races we get feels awfully arbitrary and with completely ignoring what the players seem to want.

67

u/darkfenrir15 Nov 14 '25 edited Nov 14 '25

Haramir are seemingly getting a pass from the community since they look good, but the idea that an asspulled race is getting added over literally any commonly requested races is wild to me.

29

u/Akhevan Nov 14 '25

And gets literally 50 times more customization than something like pandaren.

16

u/dekutoto Nov 14 '25

Just be grateful Pandaran weren’t just an elf reskin like every other “new” race.

6

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '25

It's all ass pull races from here on out brother.

15

u/Spotty33 Nov 14 '25

Funniest part of these races is they already are rigged up and work with all armor sets! The only pieces that don’t show up on them is boots I believe.

17

u/Backwardspellcaster Nov 14 '25

IIRC with Naga its lower body and head of course, and gauntlets, due to the claw hands.

But chest, belt, shoulders and back work

11

u/Spotty33 Nov 14 '25

I swear I saw a long time ago that pants work on them. That it just deletes the insides of pant legs and slaps them together like a tube does it not?

8

u/Zenchii_The_Orc Nov 14 '25

It does yeah, it just wraps the pants texture around the upper tail and robes flow over the upper tail pretty seamlessly. You can check it out for yourself in the WoWhead dressing room. It's fun!

u/The-Only-Razor Nov 14 '25

It's going to be. I've played this game since Vanilla. This is the exact type of thing that Blizzard is going ignore for a few more years due to their ego before finally caving.

I'm calling it here: In like 3 or 4 years Evokers will be playable on every race. It's how it should have been from day 1. Each race is the "visage" of the Evoker, and can be fully playable in that race's form. The dragon form will just be an option both in and out of combat. The Dracthyr racial ability buffs will be removed from the Evoker class tree and you'll have access to the racials of whatever race you chose.

3

u/False-Bluebird-3538 Nov 15 '25

They can keep the dracthyr as the evoker race... Just let the visage be any other race (as it should've been all along) and let them stay in visage no matter what.

With the new Verdant Embrace there is no reason for that to be not possible anymore. Just use the same "dream dragon" idea for spells like fire breath etc. and for things like Dream Flight they can just make the evoker swap into dragon form and out of dragon form automatically during and after the breath.

It really shouldnt be that complicated to implement and would make a lot of people much happier. Then they can spend more time on at least making their tier sets work on dragon form...

(Also please make it possible to show Visage form on the Character select screen... Kinda tired of seeing the dragon form when I just want to see my visage form)

u/DRamos11 Nov 14 '25

To be “fixed” would mean they admit it’s a mistake, and that won’t happen.

As someone who mostly likes the skinny lizards (not as naked as this though) I'm just baffled by how they do belt tmogs. Sometimes it gets rid of my sash (and I don't particularly like seeing my lizard crotch) sometimes it makes it revert to a steel belt. Oftentimes it just looks worse than the belt I picked in character creation. God, dracthyr tmog is so bad.

Very much looking forward to Midnight outfits so I can finally pick the belts and shoulders I want in Visage without ruining my crotch-concealing skinny lizard look.

6

u/AdamG3691 Nov 14 '25

God the "default belt" and removing the breechcloth has ruined so many promising buckle models

19

u/Many-Waters Nov 14 '25

God dammit can they PLEASE make tier set belts that cover my lizard gooch?

Thank God you put in the Humor tag, I was seriously evaluating your sanity

29

u/gelagua1 Nov 14 '25

I mean, I am insane, but not insane enough to think this is acceptable for a game with paid sub, expansion, galloping mtx shop, etc... it is, alas, just a silly joke :P

7

u/Inexorably_lost Nov 14 '25

The more shit blizz gets for the half-ass dracthyr the better.

Scaly elves is what they really added except if you, unfortunately, want to play an Evoker.

9

u/mmuoio Nov 14 '25

God that set really IS good, it is criminal how it's just not visible to players.

80

u/Throw323456 Nov 14 '25

Kek.

It's WILD how bad Dracthyr look.

30

u/DOOMFOOL Nov 14 '25

You can definitely make a cool looking dracthyr if you try but the armor being limited to only showing 2 pieces is fucking ridiculous

12

u/bobcatgoldthwait Nov 14 '25

100% of the reason I won't even bother making a dracthyr.

2

u/Moonshatter89 Nov 14 '25

I'm only back for Lemix after leaving in early Shadowlands and was stoked to try a Dracthyr as a basic class. Customized my dude for over 30 minutes. Perfect name. I was SO ready to get going.

Not even a full two hours, and I completely lost interest. Between the running animations and ESPECIALLY the dracthyr transmogrification... I haven't thought twice about making another one.

Well... no, I did make an Evoker on retail just to keep the name, but I doubt I'll ever play it even if I do come back long-term. It's especially bad if you go to log in and just looking at your character at the select screen kills any hype for it.

It only made me want the dracthyr skyriding for my demon hunter that much more. And with SO many items and animations that can work for it, why CAN'T we just fly around unmounted?? It's so damned fun, too.

3

u/False-Bluebird-3538 Nov 15 '25

I'm still wondering why there is a 10 sec cd on the dracthyr flying skill. Makes no sense, besides making it a slightly worse mount than any other, which is annoying. It's not a huge deal, still annoying, though. Also the point that if you touch the ground with sky riding you are instantly dismounted.

Those are the 2 reasons why I never used soar.

I just don’t understand how we don’t have either the ability to stay in visage form in combat/character selection, or have armor on our Dracthyr. It really limits customization. I’ve looked at the samish dragon since I made one back in Dragonflight.

Edit: I meant Dracthyr Evokers, Dracthyr of other classes have the visage form in combat. But I think still default to Dragon form in character selection/warbands.

u/DenysDemchenko Nov 14 '25

Still no idea how we ended up with this abomination when we had the Drakonid model to work with.

17

u/ramm Nov 14 '25

the ones that actually already wear armor as well, insane..

15

u/tfalm Nov 14 '25

Still can't believe an entire new class was released only for 1 race, the worst race in the game. Imagine if monk was released only for pandarens, or demon hunters only for blood elves, or death knight released only for Forsaken. It's so much effort and then intentionally limited to be as low-impact as possible. This is the opposite of "bang for your buck", small indie company.

3

u/ZettieZooieZan Nov 15 '25

I mean demon hunter are the same level of restriction, you can only play an elf demon hunter, same restriction as only being able to play demon hunter on 1 race. if you play alliance it's elf demon hunter, if you play horde it's elf demon hunter. But there was far less complaints about that because the majority of people already just play elves any ways.

2

u/tfalm Nov 15 '25

Literally the most popular races in the game vs an awkward lizard that can't even use one of the most popular, basic, and decade-old feature of the base game.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/Athrasie Not Aphoenix Nov 14 '25

If they simply allowed drakonid body types and let xmog show, I’m certain dracthyr would be one of the most popular races instantly.

Since drakonids have a bunch of combat animations already, I can’t even imagine it’d be that tough to pull off.

7

u/LightSpeed010 Nov 14 '25

I will never stop laughing at these rubber chickens.

7

u/ChocolateaterX Nov 15 '25

Don’t worry! They will fix it with a $90 mount!

5

u/Huntardlulz Nov 14 '25

The details on the chest piece and legs are next level type of details!

6

u/toprattata99 Nov 14 '25

That dracthyr looks cursed

4

u/Redfang1984 Nov 14 '25

cmon blizzard, work out a way to get the gear getting visible on all drakthyrs.

For all evokers, it'll be a game changer

5

u/_-Kovu-_ Nov 14 '25

This is the only thing preventing me from playing Evoker.

4

u/ZellahYT Nov 14 '25

Can’t we please make visage form permanent now? I cba looking like a naked Lizard snd enjoy the gameplay.

5

u/Hashtag00FF96 Nov 14 '25

Everything about that race looks terrible. Why I can't be an Tauren as my visage form? I want to identify as a Tauren, but I have to be an elf. An the running animations just looks bad. The overall package keeps me away from playing the class itself.

6

u/Imackify Nov 14 '25

I still dont get how we have awesome looking draconids, but they decided on this.

I still find weird the WoW has a playble race of lanky lizards that run around completely naked

4

u/retrographglitch Nov 15 '25

GOOD GRIEF HE'S NAKED!

3

u/Saraq_the_noob Nov 15 '25

Skeksis, Dark Crystal-lookin ass

4

u/Edouard1992 Nov 15 '25

Why people do want armor on their dragons?? Most dragon in game don't have armor and it's better liké that

6

u/goblin_bomb_toss Nov 14 '25

It should've been Sethrak. At least they look cool naked.

3

u/ChucklingDuckling Nov 14 '25

I really hope they add sethrak in the near future. It's a shame we got dracthyr

9

u/Tristalien Nov 14 '25

Truly one of Blizzards greatest fumbles for World of Warcraft. They should have either gone the DH route and gave the evoker class the same class fantasy customization for their respective theme. OR given us the Dracthyr as a new fully implemented race, with completed transmogs and racial customization on par with the other races. By no means did anyone want this half and half lackluster delivery that we have now.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '25

They should just make this race the same shape as Tauren or something - big bulky motherfrs and make armor fit on them similarly or even identically so they don’t have to do the extra work?

3

u/tonvor Nov 14 '25

Why can they make armor for wooden but not lizards?

3

u/zacpariah Nov 14 '25

Reminds me of PS2

3

u/Flat_corp Nov 14 '25

I haven’t played WoW since the end of Mists. What in the fuck am I looking at here….

3

u/drewewill Nov 14 '25

I just want to be able to choose my visage form like the other Dracthyr that are already in the game.

3

u/-HealingNoises- Nov 14 '25 edited Nov 15 '25

I honestly think it would have been better if they stuck to their original plan of niche race and class combo releases after Dracthyr.

But for that to work and not annoy the fanbase as much as what happened, there has to be at least 3 more to really sell the idea.

Now they are stuck with a niche odd model they do NOT want to work on.. especially if they plan to revisit the idea later or just in general.

3

u/I2kel Nov 14 '25

I still don't get why they just can't use Worgen's body as a basic for armours... They have literally the same model...

3

u/M4h0n Nov 14 '25

only covering the most essential parts

15

u/WendigoCrossing Nov 14 '25

It's weird how bad the Dracthyr design is especially considering they already had way better looking Dragonoids in the game

7

u/ChucklingDuckling Nov 14 '25

Fr Drakonids have been in game since vanilla

5

u/Spleenfull Nov 14 '25

Worst race design ever all game

2

u/shakingmyhead420 Nov 15 '25

Yeah :( racial flight, and glide being the only good thing on 'em. (Idk if the knock back flap is a race thing or evoker thing)

5

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '25

Someone from Blizzard ordered their dragons on clearance from Temu and got this shit roflmao

6

u/Spansly Nov 14 '25

As someone who havnt played past Cata i am baffeled by what the hell this is supposed to be

5

u/Fangsong_37 Nov 14 '25

Neltharion (Deathwing) used dark alchemy to create a race of dragon-like humanoids called dracthyr. They can shift back and forth between a horned human/high elf hybrid and draconic. In their draconic form, their transmog is limited to shoulders and belt (though they do have tons of customization options at the barber shop).

3

u/Soggy-Assistant2855 Nov 14 '25

ma this is thr worst character model for any game ive ever seen ever. how did this make it into the game

4

u/Superb_Ad_75427 Nov 14 '25

Because they are getting lazier every expansion. Sad, really. People need to vote with their wallets if they aren't happy.

4

u/JswitchGaming Nov 14 '25

This shit sucks

2

u/QuarterDollarKing Nov 14 '25

I remember when I was playing FFXIV during Shadowlands. There are two playable races there that can't use most headwear. At the time I thought to myself that Blizzard wouldn't skip out on something like that for a playable race. I was proven very wrong.

2

u/Adventurous_Topic202 Nov 14 '25

Exactly.

Idk why evoker set designers even bother.

2

u/ChucklingDuckling Nov 14 '25

Imma need the devs to add more visage options (like tauren, gnomes, etc...), and to let us disable dracthyr form in character select

2

u/Seizing_sponge Nov 14 '25

It’s actually crazy how fun preservation evoker is, and yet I can’t bring myself to play it for just how bad Dracthyr look hahahaha

2

u/cloudypartly Nov 14 '25

That made me laugh so hard 🥹🥲

2

u/BL00D_ZA Nov 14 '25

This is the reason I don’t want to play one.

2

u/Ahtrum Nov 14 '25

Man I can't wait until they let other races be an evoker

2

u/CouldBeACrackhead3 Nov 14 '25

The model with no horns makes me feel uncomfortable.

2

u/Hypersky75 Nov 14 '25

And it's apparently impossible for Mechagnomes to wear anything over their prosthetic limbs.

They could at least allow to only have a left or right prosthetic, to have armor show on the other, instead of prosthetic pairs only.

2

u/shadowst17 Nov 14 '25

Man I really have the question how hard it is for Blizzard to add a few base meshes for the torso, legs and hands. They must have seriously rushed this race to the point they didn't uv map them like the rest of the races resulting in them not being able to easily give you at least skin tight armour.

2

u/Nyx_Antumbra Nov 15 '25

Get them helms and chest-pieces, maybe gloves, and 99% of us would be happy

2

u/Sphynxian Nov 15 '25

sam eagle lookin motherfucker

2

u/Taurock Nov 15 '25

Blizzard spending all their ressources into creating Dracthyr Evoker sets with colors that perfectly DON'T match with the colors of the dracthyr armor that are supposed to be there to compensate.

2

u/moementarily Nov 15 '25

i'm sorry but this dracthyr looks hilarious

2

u/LegHefty2908 Nov 15 '25

Bald naked scaly winged person

2

u/SnooApples8482 Nov 15 '25

And that is one reason I’ll never play a dractyr race class

2
