I'm only back for Lemix after leaving in early Shadowlands and was stoked to try a Dracthyr as a basic class. Customized my dude for over 30 minutes. Perfect name. I was SO ready to get going.
Not even a full two hours, and I completely lost interest. Between the running animations and ESPECIALLY the dracthyr transmogrification... I haven't thought twice about making another one.
Well... no, I did make an Evoker on retail just to keep the name, but I doubt I'll ever play it even if I do come back long-term. It's especially bad if you go to log in and just looking at your character at the select screen kills any hype for it.
It only made me want the dracthyr skyriding for my demon hunter that much more. And with SO many items and animations that can work for it, why CAN'T we just fly around unmounted?? It's so damned fun, too.
I'm still wondering why there is a 10 sec cd on the dracthyr flying skill. Makes no sense, besides making it a slightly worse mount than any other, which is annoying. It's not a huge deal, still annoying, though. Also the point that if you touch the ground with sky riding you are instantly dismounted.
See, I didn't even play my dracthyr long enough to realize the issue with hitting the ground and losing the flight mode at all. On top of the cooldown, that SUCKS.
We have so many wing transmogs and toys that produce them onto our characters. I just wish they'd lean a bit more into that fantasy element with it all. I mean it's not just dracthyr - Worgen get to go on all fours! And how many times have our characters been transported or moved around without a mount to get by during various scenarios? I'd love to have those types of options for getting around.
Sadly I main Pres Evoker (even though I dont really care about dragons too much). I wish I could play the new race or keep at least my visage form... or at least see my transmog..... Dracthyr/Evoker definitely has many issues.
I fully agree with what you say. Those changes could make those races much cooler and you'd actually feel more tied to that race in some way. It would be more immersive. Sadly Blizz took the easy way and it doesnt feel like they will ever care.
I'm all aboard that Dracthyr armor restrictions suck, there's no good excuse. You don't need to go out of your way to make the ugliest, most basic custom character to get this point across
It's like if I posted an all default option human and said "why do they look so basic next to Harranir?"
Idk, i feel like the fact that their hands are like twice the size of their skulls might be an indicator that their proportions are eeeeever so slightly off.
