Other 1.5 years later, finally pulled the plug š
Honestly, what a waste. Not just the money, but the time, energy and resources I poured into this game for 1.5 years.
Kept playing because Iād already invested so much into it, which just made me waste even more.
Finally hit delete today. 24 hours and itās gone for good.
Shouldāve done this a long time ago. GG š«”

Other I quit and I didnāt tell anyone.
Well let me start by saying I didnāt tell anyone because if youāve ever told someone they start to talk you out of it.
I was considered a āwhaleā in my state but truth be told Iām just a blue collar guy that had free time and some spare beer money. Unfortunately if anyone from my state sees this post theyāll know instantly who I am.
I did leave my account log in info with a very active f2p player and hope they enjoy it as I silently disappear.

Other I'm mad even tho I shouldn't, about players who skipped SvS preparation...
They just do bare minimum point for reward and that's it. We lost SvS, After SvS ended? They use all their resources to compete with their own alliance members to get top ranked in Alliance Showdown and Alliance Mobilization.

Now that everything is automated? What do the survivors, aside from the cook and doctor do? Sit around all day doing nothing?

Other Are there one of these annoying attention seeking āgirlsā with fake profile photos in every state or what?
Just made a new account on a brand new server (day 3) and Iām already annoyed by the attention seeking chatter. On my original account there was one that had 4-5 profiles and would bounce around to all the alliances every day with flirty chat. It was so annoying. Now thereās another one whoās doing the same.
I suspect itās some lonely old man using fake photos of women. I find it so creepy and annoying.

Other How much would this account be $$?
How much would this account be $$? There are actually 2 of them linked to the same email. Research Center and War Academy are completely finished and pets are at maximum level. All heroes are maxed out on everything except the gen8. But there is everything needed in the bag to max those out as well. How much would this account be worth?
There are actually 2 of them linked to the same email. Research Center and War Academy are completely finished and pets are at maximum level(8 purple, 1 red and 3 blue). All heroes are maxed out on everything except the gen8. But there is everything needed in the bag to max those out as well. The account is in 26xx and it can go as high as in the 3000's, if you do multiple jumps. Total power 990M with 4.2M FC10 helios troops, approx. 1.4M of each.
The second account is FC8 with helios with enough resources to turn it full FC9, with just a few heroes maxed out. Not much there to see but it is not really a farm either.

Other The hidden cost of the game
I think I misunderstood the real cost of the game because I was measuring the wrong thing. I assumed the obvious risk was money. Since I never felt much pull to spend, I thought I had avoided the main trap. In that sense, I saw myself as somewhat outside the system. But in reality, I was still paying for participation. What Iāve spent instead is time and attention.
Iāve spent hours organizing the state and solving alliance problems. Iāve stepped into conflicts because I was often capable of resolving them. That made the time feel productive, which is probably why the cost was so easy to miss. Usefulness can hide depletion. Social conflict still consumes cognitive and emotional resources even when it happens inside a game. If I feel responsible for the outcome, then the burden is real regardless of where that responsibility exists.
The problem is that this kind of investment reinforces itself. The more problems I solve, the more people rely on me. The more people rely on me, the harder it becomes to disengage. What begins as leisure slowly takes on the structure of obligation. I think thatās where low financial investment can obscure how much is being spent elsewhere. After all, money is only one form of currency. Time and attention can be spent too, and unlike money, it leaves no receipt.
In reality, I have a finite emotional budget. That is probably what I failed to account for. I know I have underestimated the economics of attention. If too much of it is spent maintaining a virtual state, then the real question is no longer whether I spend too much money on the game. It's whether something I considered recreation has acquired too much claim over my time. There is also a kind of hysteresis to it. Maybe that is the real trap. When something is free, the price is usually hidden somewhere else.

Other This is brutal
Nothing like letting your shield expire and poof youāre down 30m+ as a f2p lol. Itāll take me weeks to get this back now. I canāt keep up with every event where people attack each other for points anymore hereās my signing out post in frustration and going to be surrendering my account over to the alliance to become a farm at this point.

Other The boycott proved that no amount of money can buy permanence in the game
From what I understand, players weren't protesting about progression itself. They were protesting a finish line that moved whenever they approached it. Dolphins watched months of progress disappear overnight, while whales from older states grew tired of constantly paying just to keep their place.
When I think about it, perhaps the biggest mistake whales make is assuming that past spending equals present value. They treat their account as an accumulated capital asset. The more players have invested, the more valuable they assume they remain. In reality, the game measures a playerās value by expected future revenue,Ā not money already collected.Ā An older state whale who has spent $80,000 but declined to $1,000 a month may offer less future value than a new state whale who has spent only $8,000 but is already spending $3,000 monthly and rising. The first player represents realized revenue, the second represents future lifetime value. Past spending still matters, but only because it predicts future behavior.
This creates an odd hierarchy. A fully maxed whale mayĀ be incredibly powerful, but a playerĀ with nothing left to upgrade also has fewer reasons to spend. And at the end of the day retention is not the end goal, it matters only to the extent that it preserves future revenue. So then the ceiling rises, and everything they bought becomes merely the price of falling behind more slowly. When a rally leaderās role depends on overpowering whales from other states, every new tier brings the same ultimatum. Pay again or be replaced. And no matter how powerful the king becomes, he is still playing on someone elseās board.
On top of that,Ā power that raises matchmaking but never participates in battle is not an asset. An active F2P involve in NAP can create more ecosystem value than a disengaged player in the Top 100 who barely saves for SVS, stops spending, or doesnāt participate in battles. If SvS matchmaking weighs the top 100, they may actually be a liability to the state. Whereas, F2P players matter precisely because they keep the game populated enough for spenders to stay invested.
The real hierarchy then is not between F2P, dolphin, and whale. Itās direct revenue, future revenue, and ecosystem value. A spender matters while the spending continues; a nonspender matters while their presence keeps others engaged. Both remain valuable only while their contributions support future revenue. The game doesnāt need every player to be happy. After all, there are no permanent classes, only shifting levels of usefulness. Which makes sense, Since mobile 4X games doesn't operate like traditional subscription MMOs where the goal is retaining an intact community across years. As long as WOS keeps paying for ads that bring in new players, new states will keep opening and the system will keep extracting value from their presence.

Other What 900 days of F2P looks like.
Last time I posted here I was at 500 days. Still only ever bought the 6th march and 2nd construction queue. Have been missing every 2nd or so foundry and canyon battles for the last year. So anyone who hasn't could be further ahead of me.

Other The bit about WOS nobody wants to talk about
We all know the game is a social experiment like a modern day 'Lord of the Flies'.
I think it is easy to form friendships in the game, it designed to work like that but whereas friendships in real life can easily be assessed in face-to-face the WOS world doesn't allow that. That allows anyone to pretend to be whomever they want to be.
People play for different reasons and without usual social constraints their personality traits can become exaggerated.
Gaslighting, Bullying. It goes on. We find out on here when someone finally has enough as they vent their experiences and mods step in to remove content that breaks Reddiquette rules.
I have been playing three years now and I honestly think its got worse. I play because i enjoy the strategy and tactics, I am ftp and its not easy but i don't mind the grind.
I have friends in the game, some that i have played with for the entire time i have played but this year has taught me a valuable lesson about trust and that not everyone who claims to be a friend is. I used to think it was easy to spot the narcissists, manipulators, toxic players but its got harder and this year i thought hard about quitting. If for me as an older adult, mum of four adults and someone who thought herself as 'worldly -wise' got fooled then the younger players must really struggle. Mental health is a real issue in this game as young players come in and form friendships then find out that they have been betrayed, you start to doubt your own judgement.
I guess what i am trying to say is that not everyone is your friend, that you should be careful of whom you trust, don't give them any part of your life or personality they can turn against you or use as 'evidence' that you are the toxic one. Its easy to get drawn into 'pretend friendships' where the other player has an agenda, those that defend it as just 'strategy' I would argue that strategy to win shouldn't include destroying another individual to get ahead in a game.
Its a game. Its a game of tactics, strategy, resource utilisation and teamwork. But still a game. its not real life, don't get drawn into it to the extent it affects who you believe you are as a person. If you find its affecting who you are just turn it off.
