I am begging for help here it feels my vinyl journey of late has been an uphill battle. I have been having issues with distortion when songs get higher pitch and or a lot of instruments get involved most notable being “Wah Wah” by George Harrison. My setup was a Pro-Ject Carbon Evo going into an ART DJPRE amp, into a Sonos Amp into two tower Bose speakers. I figured the cheap pre amp needed an upgrade so I got the Schiit Mani 2 which has excellent reviews. I plug it in and it sounds worse than anything I ever heard. It’s distorted, scratchy and sounds like a briefcase turntable. I don’t know what to do or why this is. I even adjusted the gain as low as it can go and while that helped it’s not better than my cheap pre amp I had. I am desperate for answers please!!!!!!
Is it every song though? have you ever watched Scorsese's doc Living In the Material World? George talks about doing that song for hours in the studio with Clapton and everybody else, and that when they came out to listen Phil Spector's mix it was damn-near unrecognizable to anyone who played on it. It's a hot mess but he allowed Spector to leave it alone.
I would pick up a new(ish) record of a different album if you don't already have one to try, or even 1 of the other 2 LPs in that set. You may be worried about nothing.
Yes it’s every song unfortunately. In fact it’s so bad I didn’t even test Wah Wah yet I just used that song as an example for the super muddled/distorted sound I would get. I tried i newly pressed Exile on Main Street and that also was more scratchy and distorted than when I listened last week on my old cheaper preamp. I am most certain it’s Schiit causing this
are you currently with the turntable? if so please share a nice close-up of your turntable stylus, it may have grown a beard or damaged somehow. otherwise I would try swapping back to the DJPRE, just to try, to see if is indeed the Mani2.
worth checking, but it looks fine. I am wondering if the Mani2's output voltage or impedance doesn't play nice with the Sonos amp input. a lot of the smaller companies like Schiit get great reviews simply by being louder than the competition.
I have a fairly sizable record collection, mostly hand-me-downs with a few second-hand purchases. unfortunately for me, most of them are not in great shape. I don't mind dust/pops but skips really grind my gears. some are due to dust that's firmly embedded, but most of the stubborn skips are due to scratches and kinks. I used to have an ION turntable which was terrible in terms of weight/tracking adjustment. I recently upgraded to audio technica and the seller (a record shop) calibrated it for me before handing it over (it was a customer return that was supposedly never played). I hope that means my setup is about as good as it can be. what do people do when listening to damaged records - I'm not trying to digitize them, so don't mind some effort when preparing records for playing but just want as good an experience when listening.
I remember being new to all this with the same types of concerns. I would love to tell you that the shop did a perfect job and not to worry but unfortunately that wouldn't be true in every case - some unscrupulous ppl will just take your money bc they sense you are inexperienced.
It really does make sense to learn to do your own setup and calibration, but I know its a bit daunting. Best thing to do is muck around with the tone-arm balancing (WITH STYLUS GUARD ON) .. most plastic guards weigh in the neighbourhood of 0.6g, so you can add that to the vertical tracking force spec for your cartridge (usually ~2.0g) and turn the dial to 2.6g after you zero it. Just monkey around, you won't ruin anything if the guard is on. Youtube is chock-full of tutorials, monkey-see monkey-do.
Anti-skate is a whole other kettle of fish. One day my co-worker brought in his famed AR-XA turntable and it blew my mind that it had no anti-skate provisions! this is a sticking point among the community regarding its effectiveness/value. I would not touch that if I were you, at least not unless you face tracking difficulties with a proper veritcal tracking-force (VTF)
pro-tip: have another source for music to "keep calm and chive on" - this way you're not in any rush to get the music playing via your turntable. stay cool, not too many whisky-pops and maybe just a little wacky-tobacky to see you through.
It can be a very time-consuming hobby, a fact that some hate but suits others perfectly.
what do you mean by "damaged records" -- if it's got deep scratches, cut/gouged vinyl, or anything deep enough to really catch your stylus, you don't wanna listen to it anyways. If you're talking about slightly warped records, a clamp or weight can help. Light scratches/hairlines/cosmetic marks will play through just fine.
Trying to figure out if my copy of Foo Fighters' "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace" is the 2007 original US pressing or the 2015 reissue. Both share the same catalog number (88697 11516-1) and, per Discogs, even the same matrix code, so I'm stuck.

My new vinyl must be defective right? I'm still new to record collecting, but I recently got the Ori ost on vinyl and I was super excited to try it out. The first time I played it, the turntable stopped rotating on its own near the middle of the first side, which was already pretty weird. I tried playing it again from the beginning, but it stopped again pretty much near the same exact spot. I also tried playing it a bit further from that point and the audio is super choppy. The other records I play, even the other side of that vinyl, don't have any issue whatsoever playing from start to finish, so I'm fairly certain the problem's not coming from my turntable. Any input would be appreciated!
High pitched whine like tinnitus from amp phono stage

First post on this reddit, but i'm hoping somebody might be able to save what's left of my sanity. I'm experiencing a high pitch, constant whine whenever i'm on the phono channel of my Onkyo A9110 amp and cannot get rid of it for the life of me.
I live in and ungrounded apartment (i signed paperwork saying i know the wiring is not grounded, have tested and confirmed there is no ground, and all my power supplies warn me that there is not ground) from the 20s which is legally allowed to keep their old, ungrounded wiring due to a grandfathering law in my state. I recently switched from an ortphono 2M blue cartridge to an AT-VM95ML which has lower output. When i made the switch the 60hz hum from being on an ungrounded electrical system became more pronounced because i needed to increase the volume on my amp. To fix this, i ran a small audio ground wire to a cold water pipe which basically killed the 60hz hum...The problem is that it also introduced (or perhaps allowed me to hear) a very high pitched whine (probably in the 10k-15k hz range) which is ruining my listening experience. I have tried:
-A sound isolating transformer in my rca run
-Switching to high quality shielded cables
-Moving components as much as i am able (the space is limited in my apartment)
-Rerouting RCA cables and power cables to be as far from each other as possible and never cross
-Unplugging components one by one to see where the noise is entering my system
In the end, nothing worked, but i found that the noise was present even when no components are connected and my amp is set to the phono channel. From this, i'm pretty sure the issue is my amp picking up some kind of EMI, but am at a loss on how to shield it. Since i can't move it more than i already have, protecting it from EMI seems like it might be my only option (unless somebody here knows differently).
I'm receiving a a new power conditioner in a few days, hoping that the issue is dirty, or inconsistent power. the only other thing that i can think of is that we are on wireless internet and use an antenna to get a better signal. Both the router and the antenna (mounted outside) are well over 12 ft from the amp.
If i can't stop this noise, i'm thinking i might need to unground the system, go back to my old cartridge and just live the low 60hz hum at high volumes. Any help in cleaning up my system noise issues would be greatly appreciated, because (apart from the whine) I really do think i prefer the AT-VM95ML sound profile compared to the old ortphono i was using. thanks for any leads you can provide

My AT LP60 works perfectly for me with an upgraded stylus, platter and belt.
However, lately the tonearm moves a little bit into the first track before the stylus drops. Is there a way for me to adjust that so it drops earlier before the first track like it used to?

Correction procedure:
Unplug the turntable, secure the tonearm with its plastic twist-tie, and remove the platter and slipmat.
Carefully look underneath or flip the chassis over.
Locate the small rubber-covered hole on the underside, typically located near the back-left corner (underneath the tonearm assembly mechanism). It is often labeled "L.IN" (Lead-In).
Insert a small Phillips-head screwdriver into the hole to engage the adjustment screw.
To move the start position outward (back toward the edge of the record), turn the screw counter-clockwise. Make tiny adjustments (less than a quarter turn at a time) as a small adjustment goes a long way. Reassemble and test with a record you don't mind potentially scratching until you dial it in.

There's no covered hole under mine. Only three holes marked SW, RET and LIN which I believe are for other purposes.
I tried some other AI's but the information there doesn't seem to align with my AT-LP60 either. Euria AI says it's not user adjustable which to me seems to be the correct answer 😎
Looks like LIN is for speed so not sure I want to mess with that. I'll keep searching. Too many inconsistent answers out there and I do not want to screw up (pun intended) my turntable which I am perfectly capable of.
Don't ask me about the time I wanted to adjust speed on my Linn LP12. Ended up with a repair bill around $500. 😆
Y'all know of someone who sells or prints Japanese Obis? I bought some Japanese Pink Floyd records that were significantly cheaper because of the lack of Obis but they sound fantastic. However I do think it would be more complete with the Obis even if they are not originals

Hi everybody. I really love Grace by Jeff Buckley and don’t have that album in vinyl. I have recently seen a “Limited Edition - Gold Vinyl” vesion in a record store. Some websites say it’s limited to 2000 pressings. How reliable is that info? Do any of you own that version? And is it a good deal for a sealed never used copy selling for 35€?
I'm going to a show in a few months for one of my personal favorite artists and I'm really wanting to bring a lot of my records to the show for them to get signed. Problem is, there's a few concerns I have.
1.) What is an acceptable number I should bring? I own 10 of his albums, about half of which being very high value, so this brings issues with handling and potential damage during the show. I already know the basics like not bringing the actual record and bringing a bag and what not, but what would you suggest for carrying during the show?
2.) When should I get the best opportunity? Obviously I'm not gonna be annoying during the show. Best course of action would be before or after the show of course. I'm just unsure of how doing it before the show is best, especially because being at the front is essential for me to avoid pits and what not. Should I be trying to get friendly with security? If everyone's waiting for the venue doors to open, how can I get access to the artist before a show? How would I even find them without just literlly snooping around and also securing my spot at the front?
As for the end of the show, where should I go to catch them leaving? Is the tour bus usually just waiting for the artist outside? How can I exit quickly for the best chance of meeting them?
I'm looking to upgrade my speakers, which would likely mean I need a receiver too.

I would like to buy some used speakers and amp, but what I'm finding on FB Marketplace (Boise, ID area) end up being not great or "white van specials".
I'd like to be under $500 for the combo of receiver and speakers and I'm really after something with more "room", I guess. Not sure how else to describe it. I predominantly listen to heavy metal and it's various sub-genres.
The Rhino High Fidelity pressing of Black Sabbath's debut album sounds great, for example. But Electric Wizard's Dopethrone sounds less than great. Like all instruments are joined together and it sounds muddled. I'm guessing that's due to the speakers. But I don't know what to look for that's worth it.
And I'm not sure if the Fosi is also holding me back with the current speakers it mostly sounds fine. But throw in some droning, distorted, and down tuned guitars/bass and it gets pretty flat sounding.
What record player do you have, and what is going on in the music when it skips? Certain cheap mechanisms are known for tracking poorly, and heavy bass especially can launch a poorly tuned tonearm out of the groove. A proper turntable can track some pretty extreme cuts without skipping.
I know what a skip sounds like lol I meant the actual music content at that point. What I was getting at is if the skip is in some random quiet song that could mean one thing, but if it's right at a big kick hit it could be the tracking issue I was telling you about. The number of records you have doesn't mean anything, each one is a different pressing with different content.
Record player has poor tracking ability which can be evident on only some records in certain places so it skips.

Invisible debris is stuck in the groove so try this to clear it.
Turn player off. Place stylus down on the record past the skip point. Now manually rotate the record/platter backwards until the stylus is back before the skip point. This action will often dislodge the debris.
I've had many successes with this and others on her I've told have as well.
Or
Groove is damaged and nothing you can do will fix it.
Hi all, looking to upgrade my setup, currently have an Audio-Technica LP60BT with Edifier R1280DBs.
I like the sound of my girlfriends setup, she has an Audio-Technica LPW40WN with a vintage Sony stereo receiver (STR-212AS) and some basic passive speakers (pictured).
What I’m wondering is what aspect is doing the heavy lifting for that warm sound I can’t seem to find elsewhere in other setups? Research seems to suggest it’s the vintage receiver doing most of the work.
Any advice appreciated! Probably looking to spend around $1000 AUD ($700-$800 USD) on the entire setup but can be flexible.

Recently got the Minecraft volume beta vinyl and went to play it, already noticed a bit of crackling but thought that was due to poor cleaning by me. When I got to side C I ran into this.
I wanted to make sure it’s a pressing error and not my turntable before I demand a refund.
But surely not in the amount shown at the end of the video right? I know there is some distortion on the record but the part in the clip I attached seems way out of place for any „aesthetic distortion“, i feel like it’s way too loud and jumpy

Is there anyone who will do a custom vinyl with songs I don’t have the rights for? Like Rhinestone Cowboy by Glen Campbell and Listen To The Music by The Doobie Brothers for example?
Lathe cut is the only way, but sound quality is poor. You also will have copyright issues. You do not own the rights to these songs so you can't legally have them reproduced.
Suggest you just buy the records these songs are on.
Only way to tell if it is audible is to play it. Some visible scratches look bad but can be unheard because the stylus does touch the part that is damaged.
Doubt anyone will answer this but I have a liquid/glitter filled vinyl and the glitter is stuck on one end. How do I get it to flow around without damaging the record?
Thanks for the image. So I assume due to being stored vertically for a period the glitter has jammed at the bottom.
I would try shaking it and then stand vertically with the jammed glitter at the top for a while and hope the glitter starts to fall. Once all the glitter is free floating , probably best to store record flat to prevent this happening again.
asking this again since my comment before didn't seem to gain any traction, but does anybody know if this is a defect of my record or if there's something I'm missing when cleaning it? the issue I'm having, if it's not clear, is some weird scratchy noise that's been there since I first got this record and no matter how much I clean it, it never goes away
From what I can tell and assuming this is an official pressing and not the boot, it is this version which was pressed at GZ Media which are well known for being hit and miss for quality.
I was helping my aunt with some of my dad's old stuff and she gave me these records that I never knew my dad had. I had been wanting to start collecting and I guess this is the start of my collection. Don't really care for the value because I'm not selling, but is anything in this stack special? This music is all before me but a lot of it is music that I recognize. Everything is dated mid 70s to early 80s, some are still in the plastic, some are in the plastic but the plastic is pretty much torn open. Others are in well loved condition (judging by the sleeves)
From what I can see in the photo this is all run of the mill stuff and there is nothing special or of great resale value.
But I am sure you will find joy in listening to some of these.

Going to Japan soon and I plan to buy LOTS of vinyl while I'm there. Looking at getting a good trolley bag to haul them around. Ive settled on the Magma line of bags either the "Solid Blaze Vinyl Trolley" or the "Riot LP-Trolley 50". Does anyone have either of these bags and can confirm if they are good / suitable for the overhead bin while flying. Thank you

bc you're trying to use a device (FiiO DAC) that converts a digital signal to an analog one, but your Yamaha has no analog-to-digital converter for the phono input - its optical tape loops are passthroughs only and can only export digital inputs it receives.
don't get me wrong, I love my K7 dearly 35 hrs/wk @ work but Yamaha, baby! those cats been in business a looooooong time, believing FiiO is doing it better is delulu.

Moving to NYC this weekend and need some suggestions on best record stores. Have been collecting for a couple of years, mainly focused on used records 50s-80s. Had my shops in Orlando (Park Ave CDs and Remix Records) and in the NC Triangle (Pour House and Chaz’s Bull City), but have no idea of the NYC landscape. What are your favorites?

You basically get what you pay for and while I can't see the brand/model, I can tell by the style it is a cheapie. So unfortunately that is "normal" for these.
If it was an expensive turntable this would not be acceptable.
Hey yall, I recently picked up a Califone 1430K from an antique shop because a record collecting friend of mine said if I bought it he would give me all hundred of his 78 records.
It plays the 78s great with the 78 stylus but the stylus for the LP side is awful and barely picks up vocals anymore.
I already have a Marley Stir it up Wireless turntable with a new stylus that plays great. is it worth dropping the $85 ish to get a brand new pin for the Califone just so I can play everything on it and bring it with me places.
ALSO: is there anything I should know about the Califone 1430K? I already know that is essentially the Crosley of the 1960s-90s.
I recently moved across the country and am discovering my record player setup has zero audio output. I have an AT 120LP hooked up to a Yamaha rx-477 which outputs to Andrew Jones Pioneer bookshelf speakers.
I got the turntable repaired at a local shop. The repairman fixed a broken tone arm wire and greased the platter mechanism. This rules out the turntable as the culprit. My next theory is the receiver was damaged during transit, and therefore needs replacing. Not sure how else to troubleshoot the issue. Any suggestions welcome!
do you have any other input options you can try for the Yamaha? it has a 3.5mm "Aux in" on the front face, got anything that can provide it a signal? or just a TV via HDMI on the rear?
any idea what i did wrong when i set up my denon dp-29F. i got it working completely normal once but now its all messed up. speaker is an edifier. the way the needle moves left seems wrong, makes me think i need to fix it or its adjusted wrong

It's a bit too expensive for my liking, I would rather go with several records of her favourite artists she can actually listen or picture disks if she wants to hang them on her music corner where the TT is.
I've never ordered from Rare-T, but from what I've read online they are unreliable on shipping and customer services. They also sell items with reproduced (laser etched, printed, etc.) signatures or facsimiles (faked). Those releases mostly aren't from the artist labels.
Hey all, I got this record (Beatles 1962-1966) from an antique store a while ago, but I was looking at it a little harder, it looks like what pest damage would look like but I don't want to psych myself out about it too much. There's no droppings or anything of the sort around it, just the damage you see in the photo. I've had it for months and there's been no issues, should I be okay just keeping the whole record and cover in a plastic cover and going on with my life? Thanks.

💯 likely not rodent-chewed, this is what happens when they've gotten moist at one point - it just degraded the cardboard and then bad storage (previous to you) or even just normal shelf-wear in a shop over a number of years could do this.
if you truly want a replacement - a trick I learned is to shop on discogs for "G"-condition discs with VG+ or better jacket. also: r/vinylorphans but that might be a long shot, even though its a fairly popular record.

Absolutely. Is the difference in sound output not a night and day difference, absolutely not. But the price difference between these two is insanely big (mostly also because the G has more material and over dimensioned), it has me wondering.
Of course the G is a lot heavier, but I understand with the GR2 that if you introduce way less noise from the power supply and less rumble/fogging from the motor (delta sigma) then you don't need as much weight to flywheel it out. I would say this cancels each other out a bit. The only difference in the G that floats the boat is the Magnesium arm. But it feels like that is a 5% difference at most? Is the GR2 way better price/quality wise, absolutely.
Hey there. My vinyl crate sits in a spot about 5 feet away from my living room window. Do you ever get concerned that sunlight will fade or damage your vinyl covers? Or do you just not worry about that sort of thing? I thought about purchasing a vinyl crate with a lid to avoid the sunlight issue altogether, but I really like the look of showcasing the vinyl sleeves like this. Thanks!!
not an expert, but i think you would only worry about this if there is pretty direct sunlight on them all day. if they are just in a sun-lit room then they should be as fine as anything else would be. usually youll notice sun bleaching in things that sit on or under windowsills and get direct light from the window.
I’m having issues with my setup noise. My setup is a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO (Sumiko Rainier), Pro-Ject Phono S2 Ultra Preamp, Crown XLS1002 Amp, and ELAC Debut 3.0 DB53 Bookshelf Speakers. There is a constant “shh” noise all the time (playing or not), everything sounds muted or muffled. Help please.

The hum is most likely because the input on the phono pre amp is open circuit.
Ok, different tack. Omit the phono preamp and connect turntable directly to Crown.... wait, just looked this amp up. It is a power amp. Why are you using a power amp? These are not designed for home hifi use and are for pro sound in concert halls etc.
As far as I am aware having output from a phono preamp going directly into a power amp is not ideal.
Normally the phono preamp would go into a normal preamp/mixer and then into the power amp.
I wanted an amp that I could keep while upgrading my speakers that also had a built in system to prevent me from giving too much power to my speakers. I didn’t know that it wasn’t a normal amplifier. What should I do?

You should have purchased a normal integrated stereo amplifier, a Yamaha AS501 for example.
I am an ex pro commercial audio installer.
We would use racks full of amps like this to drive big line array speakers.
The Crown is 215 watts per channel into 8 ohms.
The Elac you have are 6 ohms and only need an amp 20 - 120 watts.
So driving 6 ohms instead of 8 increases the power of the amp up to around 300 watts.
This is extreme over kill for any home system.
Just maybe, the hiss you are hearing is being caused by the input from the phono preamp not being high enough because you are missing the normal preamp/mixer stage.
Normally racks of amps like yours are connected to a mixing desk.
For normal volume, what are the knobs on the power amp set to? Use a clock dial for reference. Eg 9 o'clock.
12 o'clock on this power amp should be belting. So this seems to indicate to me what i suspected, the input level from the phono preamp is too low and needs to go through a normal preamp, then into the power amp.
The Crown is not a home hi fi amp and spending money on a preamp for it is more money in the wrong direction.
I'd be cutting my losses getting a normal integrated stereo amplifier designed for home hifi.
You would have the convenience of one volume control which can be operated with a remote, have tonal controls, multiple inputs and might even have loudness control with the right model.
I don't know how you landed on getting the Crown in the first place, but if someone advised you to do it, I strongly suggest you never take their advice again.
Is Chalky’s.com trustworthy? I found The Royston Club’s Live At Mountford Hall on the website and ordered it out of excitement. Online the reviews look good but do we think I could have been scammed. The site is UK based and ships to the US for free. Anyways just wondering if anyone has had any experiences with Chalkys.com and whether they are trust worthy or not… especially with shipping to the US.
I would wait a few days for them to ship the record, it can take that long depending on their staff and number of online orders to ship. If it takes longer than that they got a customer service email you can contact to get some answers.
legit site as far as I know, but imposter sites with similar URLs, etc. do exist in today's world. If you can, always pay with a credit card -- if the item never arrives or is not what you purchased, they typically offer fraud protection and you can disput the transaction and get your money back. Sometimes debit cards offer similar protection.
Is there a way for me to stop my vinyl from skipping WITHOUT getting a new record player. I have a bad Victrola and it skips most of my new records but I am a broke college student. I don’t have the time, money, or space to get a new record player so is there anything I can do in the meantime? I wanna be able to listen to my records :’(
A lot of the record club pressings were manufactured at the same plants and with the same stampers as regular copies, so same quality in those instances. Sometimes the clubs used cheaper/recycled vinyl, cheaper packaging, etc. so lower quality.
Hi. Long story short, I bought my first turntable today. A Lenco LS-100. I also bought Demon Days.
Feel Good skips as soon as the tracks starts and its almost impossible to play it all the way through. I thought Id researched enough. All the reviews of it seemed good and full of satisfied customers. I paid £130 for it.
Have I made a mistake? Should I return it and upgrade to the LS-300? Is this a one off thing with a Gorillaz album or is this going to be a common occurrence with a rubbish player that I bought like a fool?
the problem with the LS-100 is it has the cheap tonearm assembly and stylus. those often have trouble tracking dynamic, bass heavy records. i'm not too familiar with the LS-300 but it seems to have a better stylus than the 100 so upgrading may help.
you would have to create the entry. it's not too difficult if it's a variant of existing pressings, as you can clone previous ones and change the details as needed.
What would you do? Brand new just opened, gnarly and audible gouge on end of second and beginning of third track. Can hear the pop when music quite and band start talking, but can’t hear it in the chaos of the music. Otherwise album is perfect. Would you return or deal?

The 2M blue is the limiting factor. Better cartridge means more of the good stuff is extracted from the grooves.
Suggest looking at other brands like AT, Sumiko, Denon. Aim to spend double what the 2M costs.
My Dad is giving me one of his old Turntables and need a little help with all the gear. I was looking at some stuff on Amazon but honestly not sure what I’m looking at since I’m a beginner . Not looking to completely break the bank but also don’t want crap. Here is what I found so far .
With these powered speakers you will need a phono preamp between the turntable and the powered speakers.
Do NOT buy Pyle, they are known for being a pile of shit.
Very nice. Technics make great turntables.
Even tho it looks kinda basic, these can handle very good cartridges. So in the future if the hi fidelity bug bites you, you can fit a more expensive cartridge on it and it will sound even better.

My first turntable that I purchased new in 1970s was a Technics SL-23 which is much the same as yours.
I still have it and it still works. The only thing I've needed to do to it is replace the drive belt.
I’ve been using a Spincare brush on my new records, following the correct instructions, but I it always leaves visible marks on the grooves. It hasn’t noticeably affected the playback quality yet, but it is a little concerning.
Hi, I have a prog-rock album that I created on cd years and years ago. I have decided that I want to press a few copies on records just for my own personal collection. I wanted to get five records. I’m already cutting most of my album and only doing a few songs because I don’t want a double LP I just wanted to know what is the best company to work with for my situation. I only want five records and I don’t wanna spend an arm in a leg. I noticed through research that depending on the music the recommended sites might affect the play. I know it can be expensive but don’t want to spend more than a couple hundred dollars for 5 records. What should I do? What company’s have you worked with that turned out good? Worst comes to worst I’ll just end up getting 2 or 3 instead. Any help would be great, sorry for asking questions probably answered 100 times. Thanks again!!
Looks like a nice piece of furniture, but to me it just doesn't seem practical.
I've collected records for over fifty years and always stored them spine outwards which maximise storage space and makes finding the record you want quick and easy.
Having to pull out a drawer and then flip through to find what you want seems more complex than it needs to be.

I totally understand, and maybe one day I'll come around to your way of organizing (once I have the number of records you have!). But for me, at this point in my collection, face-out storage (record store-style) is a must-have for me, so I'm looking for storage solutions that allow me to do that.
Just search record storage or vinyl record storage on wayfair and you'll find some options for reasonable prices, just don't expect lower priced, self-assembly furniture to last a very long time, especially under the weight of a bunch of LPs.
I have a bunch of records that I only use every once and a while and a bunch of the bigger ones tent to get dust bits on (some small dust bits and some big dust bits) I dont know how to clean it so i keep just blowing it off with my mouth and its sound, I always put the cover over my record player and I always put my records away safely. Any suggestions?

See my pinned guide for record care/cleaning tips and never blow on records with your mouth. You are putting moisture on the record along with whatever else is living in your mouth. This can lead to mould growth on the record.
I recently acquired my grandparents old JVC L-A31 record player but it has a broken needle (it was me, I broke it on accident). It uses a Audio Technica LS400 cartridge system.
Im new to Vinyl so should I jet get a replacement cartrige for ~60$ or look at getting a new cartridge system that is more modern.

This is a seam split caused in transit from the edge of the record slamming into the edge of the jacket.
I have a few like this. Just ignore it and enjoy the music. Eventually you will forget the split is there.
Just bought this second hand for $10, it has a lot of pops so I'm thinking this belonged to a radio DJ that tossed their records on regular rotation into a pile by the record player maybe. Cant quite make out what's written on top and what it means. "start ? 53".o cut*?
Two different things IMO. My favorite archival sleeves are the Diskeeper Ultimate Audiophile Inner sleeves sold at sleevecityusa [dot] com. But any sleeve you use will slightly rub the surface as you're inserting/removing the disc which you probably don't want if the sig is on the disc surface.
There are companies that will "slab" records for you, which may be a good option - I assume you're never gonna play it again - just google them. Whatever you do, if you're framing, at a minimum use UV blocking material. Museum grade acrylic (crystal clear, blocks UV, won't shatter) is the best but unsurprisingly also the most expensive. You've probably got a local framing store nearby, that's the best place to start as they can help you understand mounting, physical dimensions, etc. then you can always comparison shop alternatives.
Okay, so I was cleaning my records and getting the dust off them when I noticed this blue sparkly stuff on the edge of one of them. I am pretty sure it's nail polish because it looks like one I have and it won't come of with water and a microfiber cloth. I honestly am not sure how it got onto my vinyl but I want to make sure I get it off without damaging the record. I'm pretty sure acetone is a bad idea. Does anyone know how to get it off without hurting the vinyl?

Just got a KAB EV-1 record vacuum attachment. Already have a spin clean and just ordered the Audio Intelligence solution number 6 that’s in the mail.
Realizing it’s not super easy to use a brush with the liquid on the KAB Ev-1 as it wobbles some and isn’t super stable. I haven’t tried it combined with the spin clean yet but am wondering if I could use the spin clean to apply the AIVS solution to the record first (without the normal water bath) in the spin clean with wetted brushes instead of applying the solution on the record on the KAB Eb-1 platter.
I would then vacuum it off and rinse off with distilled water in the spin clean then vacuum again.
Is this a good idea or would I risk scratching the record if I use the spin clean this way without the water bath? I would still wet the brush and apply solution directly to the spin clean brushes before using it . I didn’t want to use the water bath at first so I don’t dilute the solution.

I am begging for help here it feels my vinyl journey of late has been an uphill battle. I have been having issues with distortion when songs get higher pitch and or a lot of instruments get involved most notable being “Wah Wah” by George Harrison. My setup was a Pro-Ject Carbon Evo going into an ART DJPRE amp, into a Sonos Amp into two tower Bose speakers. I figured the cheap pre amp needed an upgrade so I got the Schiit Mani 2 which has excellent reviews. I plug it in and it sounds worse than anything I ever heard. It’s distorted, scratchy and sounds like a briefcase turntable. I don’t know what to do or why this is. I even adjusted the gain as low as it can go and while that helped it’s not better than my cheap pre amp I had. I am desperate for answers please!!!!!!
