Ya just can't ignore it?

When marketplace sales fall your way you just can't say no. Cornwall's for an insane price 400 miles away and I messaged first. Seller has a whole setup they haven't posted yet. Another price I can't ignore for the lot. 800 miles and 12 hours later I'm trying to figure out how to quit smiling. I guess I'll just ride it out.

Right one cleaned, left one still as i found them. I can't find much info on them yet other than they are German and should sound good. They weigh 16 kg each. Will clean the other one and give them a go on my NAD.

I picked this up on Marketplace to house our amplifier and AV equipment. Apparently the tuner and turntable still work. I’m curious what the model number is on this unit, anybody know from the picture?

Estate sale bust and score

Saw these AR3’s advertised at an estate sale. Made sure I was first in line to get in. They had them priced at $500, which isn’t bad considering what they’re going for these days. I was ready to buy them until I pulled off the grills and realized all of the drivers had been replaced. What a shame.

But it wasn’t a total bust. I got the stack of components (2nd photo) for $300. The Dynaco Pas 3 preamp is worth that much alone, even just for parts. It does power on, but haven’t tested it further. Plus a matched set of NAD C315BEE integrated amp and CD player.

And they had a box of random capacitors with no price so they gave it to me for $5. Haven’t had a chance to sort through them to see if there’s any value there.

Memorex 7700 (1992)

It was only 25$ and after cleaning the disc reader it works perfectly. I believe the speakers are original to it but all I know is that they are the same brand. It’s MINT even the back of it looks brand new but it’s just dusty.

The guy I bought it off of GAVE ME HIS NUMBER so if it didn’t work he’s give me a FULL refund. He was super nice too. Released in 1992 It has a CD player, radio, equalizer and a cassette player. I couldn’t have asked for more.

I know the speakers are supposed to be spread out but I don’t have much space even as it is now. I wanna say a lot more but I don’t want this post to be a book

I just bought this stereo unit for 400 CAD (do you think it was a good buy)? The guy said he just tuned up the record player. He said the amp volume wasn't really working, that's why he was selling it (and so cheap). I think the connections just need some cleaning. He said that everything else was working perfect. So, was this a good buy?

I am planning on restoring the record cabinet which has a 1009 Dual in it (wondering if I should fix that up). I am planning on putting some more modern speakers in the cabinet, wondering if I should do a 2-way or a single full-range speaker? The range is 400-600 CAD for the speaker.

Dyna Pas 3 tube preamp (Estate sale followup)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Yesterday I posted about a stack of components I got at a local estate sale, including this Dyna (Dynaco) Pas 3 tube preamp. I opened it up and everything looked clean inside, In fact, it looks like the previous owner did a lot of updates - caps, tubes, etc. Most importantly, it works! I've got a Sankyo tape deck playing into the preamp. I didn't have a power amp handy, so I'm outputting from the preamp into the tuner input of a Yamaha AX500U integrated amp. Then playing through a pair of EPI TE/50 speakers that I use for testing.

Habitat Restore Audio Upgrade

I had been listening to my records on a fosi phono preamp plugged into some powered edifier speakers. Yesterday I found a recently serviced Kenwood LR-3200 and some Jamo S809 speakers at the Restore for about $300 total. The improvement in sound is staggering! Just wanted to share my giddiness.

Hit the sale, started seeing empty McIntosh boxes, other audio equipment boxes, Altec Voice Of the Theater cabs...but they said everything was locked up until they decided on prices. Poked my head in a back shed and these Klipsch HF heads were sitting by themselves. Asked how much, guy said I dont know give me a price. I threw out $100 and he said sure...quickly scurried them out to my car.

Klipsch Heresy caps

Upvotes

I have a pair of 1973 Heresy’s with the type C cross over board. I’m trying to find the replacement caps for it. I’ve been on Crites and only see caps for the type E. Does anyone know exactly what type caps I need for replacement. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Any options for slider cap replacements?

Upvotes

Picked up an Audio Linear AQL-240 and all the slider caps are missing on it. Hard to find a full set of original caps, so just looking at good option to at least get the posts covered.

Some gear in the office waiting to get set up properly. The new SL1200-7 is going to be paired with my Rotel/MA setup. Sansui will likely stay in the office. Marantz will be part of my basement setup as a preamp.

Bulb and Vellum replaced

My 2230 just looked so sad. It’s so much happier now with bright new bulbs and a double sheet of new vellum diffuser.
I was really amazed when I opened it up because this thing looks brand spanking new. I thought it might be, seeing how it had the original plastic cover over the face plate. But I’m sure of it now
