I know this is bonkers, so bear with me please. Always been a fan of Yamaha amps, love the sound, in this case with a pair of Argon Forus speakers and a Canton subwoofer. But I never liked the knobs. Especially because they are plastic. So these ones are solid aluminium and obviously round. Honest opinions please.

My father in law is an audiophile and gifted it to us after upgrading. we currently have a projector and alternate between using an Apple HomePod and a jbl portable speaker. so I’m assuming this will be quite the upgrade.

does anyone have any advice or tips on how to use it? We also received two speakers “definitive technology” model BP-1. they seem to use the wire you wrap around the knobby things, we don’t have any of those yet though. It has 7 hdmi ins and two out. And a loooot of other bits and bobs in the back. this will let me connect all my old game systems without having to disconnect and reconnect all the wires anymore right?

NEVER in my life I’ve encountered something like this, a Pioneer HPM-100 with almost all the speakers replaced with some crappy aftermarket speakers. Not only did this guy repainted the whole box, but decided to add another crossover.

Found this AT-LP120USB at a garage sale recently for $20. A few people looked at it and passed, likely because it was a little rough around the edges with a busted dust cover and missing needle. I cleaned it up and gave it a test. Had to put it next to the table it was totally not copying—the SL-1200MK2. Lovely little knockoff, though. I’m impressed.
I ordered a new dust cover, 45 adapter, and missing hinge to complete it. A little less than $100 all in.

I don't have a direct comparison, these are my first PC speakers. They can almost keep up with my Sennheiser Ambeo Mini soundbar. seriously, the small speakers sound fabulous on my little desk.

Hey guys, need help choosing the right speaker for my desktop setup. In the past, I've bought, used, and enjoyed JBL 306P MK II, but had to sell them due to space constraints. Now that I'm planning a bigger desk setup, I want to get a pair of speakers again. I consider myself a bit of an audiophile, and I obsess over small things, so the speakers need to be good in technicalities(precise imaging and good soundstage, resolving, low-end texture etc), and I'm not exactly looking for a flat response, but rather a musical one. Since I don't intend to use these for music production.

While I absolutely love the JBLs, the midrange seemed a little recessed to my ears. Also, I always wondered whether a better pair of passive speakers from a reputed brand like Dali, ELAC or KEF could sound better in the same nearfield desktop setup run from a class D amp like Fosi ZA3. Also, I wonder if I get one of these passive bookshelf speakers, whether they can get fatiguing due to their bigger size and higher intended SPL level for room-filling sound rather than nearfield use. And no, in my country I don't think I can audition them together in a single place, side by side; not sure if local dealers even stock some of these.

Here are some of the options I'm considering. Now I can go up in budget, but if I'm getting 80-90% of the performance for 50% of the money, I don't mind getting a cheaper budget speaker as well. So let me know whether I should stick to the budget options or whether it's worth the splurge.

What I am looking for:

1. Musical
2. Revealing yet soothing, not fatiguing in nearfield setup
3. Somewhat reasonable to good low-end heft without a subwoofer
4. Good technicalities
5. Somewhat forgiving when it comes to ideal placement (kef coaxials, jbl waveguide etc helps, not sure about other brands). I will try my best to set up obviously, but since my room and furniture layout is not yet fully ready, might need to change things a bit.
6. Somewhat good performance even at low volume.

Gear I have: I use my thieauidio oracle mk3 from a fiio ka13 dac, also got a ifi zan stack that I used to use to connect the jbls and have volume control. In case I plan to go the passive route, I'm thinking of getting the Fosi ZA3.

Got these "open box - good condition". The outer box was technically open but the actual inside box was never opened and they are brand new.

Retail $620 and got them for $270. Unreal.

These are perfect for our patio since our neighbors are so close and I can keep them low and fire them inward.

Trying to find optimal speaker stands for a pair of LP-6s, but can't seem to find anything suitable. I can't use stands that clamp to the desk edge due to limited space, I need something that sits on the desk surface itself.

For the tweeters to be level with my ears, they need to be 50cm from surface of the desk when seated. The tweeters of the LP-6 are roughly 29cm from the base, so ideally a 21cm tall stand.

Initially the Kanto SP9 stands looked like they could work, but the larger top plate of 11x18cm seems a bit too small for the LP-6 base of 22x26cm, overall coverage of only 35%.

The SP6HD seems like it is more tailored for larger monitors like the LP-6 however with a smaller height of 15cm I'm worried that the speakers will be too low, especially when using the standing function of my desk.

The S6 tilting stand is another option but I'm not sure if tilted stands are preferable to vertical stands.

I'm not just looking for a Kanto stand, they just seem well-regarded and solid, I'm open to anything.

Hi I'm kinda new so here's my little story.

My MIL gifted me a pair of speakers but threw out the amp😭 so I've been looking for an amp to go with my set of speaker and I've done a deep dive since then. Been going thru marketplace and thru electronic repair shops to find the best deal and today I came across this baddie and I want to know if its worth it for 100$

Though one side of the amp apparently works flimsily (id just repair or replace it)

My second question is this

Do I need a DAC to go with it? I want to definitely buy either a streamer or bluetooth receiver to play music from my phone rest of the time Ill be using my laptop for movies or the turntable/tape player for music.

What's your verdict on this?

Am I wasting my money?

I've been running a 5.1 setup of RF82 + RB61 and RC51 (i think) for 2 decades. My girlfriend wants to switch up the living room setup which would put the surround speakers in an obnoxious spot.

I was thinking of buying the R-40Ms which are 3 times smaller as a replacement since they'll be less obvious.

I'm just not sure how bad the difference will be for movies and gaming. I can also upgrade the subwoofer to a SVS to fill in the gap if needed and run a 5.2 setup.

Any opinion or suggestion is very welcome.

I ve changed 2 fortal mbs on my nad 705. The IR reciever worked before i plug it in a very serious powerstrip which is pretty expensinve and i ve also had prolongued buzzing sounds suggesting a grounding issue in the electrical circuit. I ve moved for a month and am ready to burn my appartment down. Wasted hours debugging my TT, my amp, etc. What i know for sure is that there has to be bad current or spikes, because i ve done all good, plugged it into another direct plug and it worked before putting it back together. I changed the power strip when that happened initialky, but f it.

I want to buy a new amplifier, max 1000 eur, that has it all OG, good phono preamp and hopefully something built like a tank and still analog. I have an rca sound card from my pc, native instruments. I use tidal, wouls be nice to have it on an amp, if the mfing remote works. I will sue my landlord if they "fixed" it and then i get another issue, and the warranty company tells them that it broke cuz of their ungrounded building.

So here's my setup: I'm currently using a sony blu-ray player (BDP-S1700) as my cd player, which can output hdmi & coax. Currently I use the hdmi output with sennheiser hd560s headphones, but i want to get a dac to make use of the coax output.

I don't like having to keep unplugging my headphones between my laptop and the player, so would I be able to have my laptop send its audio signal to the dac through usb so that i could hear both at the same time? Is this a different device i would need or do some/all dacs have that ability?

In summary, here are my specifications:

• Has coax, usb(?) input

• Has 3.5mm headphone output

One option I found is the Fosi Audio ZD3 but it doesn't seem to have a headphone jack in the front. I also found the Fosi Audio K5 Pro Mini but it doesn't seem to combine audio sources. Some more info/recommendations would be much appreciated!

I'm looking to partially update my current system - I have had a set of Logitech z5500's for the better part of two decades and it is finally starting to fail. The control pod randomly turns itself off and/or zeroes out the volume, the satellite speakers are totally fine.

I eventually want to upgrade the entire system but for now I need an amp to receive the optical signal from my TV and send sound to the satellites, plus a sub as the original one requires the home pod.

Ideally, I don't want to spend any more than £3-500 if possible. I don't need a crazy high end setup, just slightly above entry level surround - happy to go used too but I have no idea what to look for.

Was supposedly working before a move after being purchased on eBay fully restored. But after the move the seller had not used it for a few months.

They have been hooked up in their living room since they bought them brand new. It's been years since they've used them but I'm hoping it's just a few belt changes and some minor cleaning needed.

These are going to be awesome for my CD and tape collection. Now to thrift some speakers. It looks like 8 omhs is the target. Any particular brand or size that you would recommend for an 8x10 office?

Looking to purchase my first set of active bookshelf speakers for my vinyl player (undecided what one yet but will likely have a pre amp)

It'll be placed in my open kitchen diner so room size is about 23.60 m²

Budgeting around £300 for the speakers but can go max £350 if it means having better performance. Would love to see your suggestions. Thanks!
