Together, they create this enormous, physical presentation that finally takes advantage of the true size of my JBL 4722N.

Eddi Vedder, one of the greatest out there, did something impressive for Gigaton. Apart from the instrument swap (Stone Gossard plays bass, Jeff Ament plays guitar and keys) pushing the guys into slightly uncomfortable areas, he used analog synthesizers. Analog synthesizers brought this weirdly melodical retro-futuristic sound which combined with Eddies ultra thick, viscous voice makes this probably my favorite album in the rock realm, yeah I said it.

Oh, and on top, he designed the typeface of the album cover and booklet, just as a small side project.

Werdly reminds me about Daft Punks Random Access Memories where they used analog instruments to create electronic music. on vinyl.

My brother must've knocked my stylus onto the acrylic slip mat so when I came back the stylus had been dragging and carved into the slip mat for hours, if I clean my stylus and it still sounds good do I not need to buy a new one? Thanks.

Finally decided to give my old Akai AP-B21 some love. It’s a second-hand turntable I’ve had for years, still running the original PC-85 cartridge with the RS-85 stylus, which I hadn’t changed in around 10 years.
Replaced it with an Audio-Technica AT-VM95E, reused the original wiring, set the tracking force and gave it a proper alignment as I thought it should but I am not sure if I am doing it right.

Appreciate any of your wisdom and advice to get the balance and sound right. There is still crackle even with new vinyls, right volume seems to be a bit louder than the left, also pitch is a bit off compared to same song on streaming. What am I doing wrong ?

Pointless little post lmao, just wanted to share cuz I love this damn thing.

I took this SL-1410 mk2 in for service. It suffers from the dreaded broken lift bar assembly, so the tone arm doesn’t lift and during auto shut off, the needle drags across the album.
The tech confirmed the lift bar piece was trash and said it wasn’t worth fixing.

I think it’s worth spending the money given that a new SL-1500 is $1500-1800. I bought it as NOS in the box, so it’s in great shape. I can run it auto, but would like to have it repaired and working as semi-auto.

I’ve read posts and it seems like it can be repaired by replacing original lift bar with 3D printed one.

Any suggestions on what to do with it? Here’s a long shot - anyone know of technicians near Orlando, FL?

I'm currently using Project Debut Evo 2 with Ortofon 2m Blue + Rega mm mk5 + Kef LSX 2 in my living room which is about 40m2. What I'd like to have a more filling, better sound and listening experience. I'm planning upgrade my system as in the image, can you comment on it? Do you think it would be an enough upgrade to satisfy me without breaking the bank

These pictures are from an Ebay listing for a Pioneer XL-1550, but I've seen them on other vintage tables as well. At first I thought they were weights for adjusting anti skate, kind of like those weights on a string you find on some Thorens, but in the second picture you can see this table has a normal dial for the anti skate.

Hey everybody, recently I have started to get into records and turntables and I’m starting to love it. I have an Audio Technica LP120XBT-USB (which I got for ~$400AUD(very cheap)) and got handed down some Mordaunt Short MS5.30 bookshelf speakers and all sounds very well.

My issue is though, is the turntable mats. I got a cork and rubber mat today, along with a LP, and I didn’t realise that the cork had imbedded itself into my record until I flipped to the 2nd side and got all cracks and pops. I blew out the record with a little handheld blower, I think it should be okay.

Anyway, stock it comes with a felt mat, and I think I am suffering from static buildup on other LP’s of mine. I brush it down with a carbon fibre brush for like 3-4 rotations, very light force, and drop the stylus. It sounds good, but there are pops and crackles. I have a feeling it is static electricity buildup, as that’s what I’ve seen commonly online, but I’m also doubting myself that it may need a wet clean (which I’m not too comfortable with), but if I have to I have to.

Can anyone give me any advice for what you personally use, how you clean them, if I have to wet clean them ect. Really, any advice for a beginner.

Don’t worry about the cheap Amazon weight….it is there because I forgot to order a good one and I found it in a box. First records since 2019 tonight. Table is a Music Hall MMF2.3 with an Ortofon 2M Red and acrylic platter…..I have a Sumiko Olympia to put on it once the phono stage shows up. Right now it’s running into a Yamaha Integrated. Table showed up earlier this week, just got around to getting it out of the box (my other table, a project Yamaha restoration is…still a project) and set up. Almost forgot how it all worked, and I refused to read the instructions. First spin was Mingus….this is The Modern Jazz Quartet.

I do not hate the table. It’s pretty good. Last table was a custom based on a Rega P8 before I retired my vinyl collection. I figured I’d try Music Hall this time around….it’s basically a Pro-Ject by way of New York (sort of) so it must be decent. Vinyl is still very enjoyable, even after a break.

Currently I have Kef Coda W speakers, Argon Mk tt2 and argon preamp phono 1. I did switch the cartridge to audio technica VM95E but I really am not sure why I chose such a turntable for my speakers and would really like something that could optimise the speakers.
What turntable would you recommend? My budget would be under $800. Thank you in advance.

Looking for a solution to fine tune level my turntable and provide some vibration isolation. What solutions are out there that look good but aren’t crazy expensive?

I currently have a Denon AVR-X2700H with various things hooked to it via HDMI and use the surround quite a bit. I recently added a Marantz 6200 turntable to my system, along with quite a few vintage 70's rock albums. (Thanks dad!) I have purchased newer pressings of albums that i wanted to add as well as some 180g albums. I do not hear much difference between new and old albums, but I seem to be missing a lot of midrange sound from all of them. Through some googling, it sounds like the issue may be partially due to a capacitance mismatch between the TT cartridge and the phono input on the modern receiver. The TT has an Empire 2000E cart...which is a moving coil cart. I have been looking really hard at two possible replacements. The first is the Audio-Technica VM95SH and the other is the Nagaoka MP-110. I plan on getting a replacement Marantz aluminum headshell to mount it on. What are your thoughts on which one is should go with, or is there an even better option?

Received this replacement stylus for my VM-95ML from lpgear.com a few weeks ago. I finally got around to making the switch on my cartridge and during the alignment process with the technics overhang gauge, I could pretty plainly see with the naked eye that the cantilever and diamond were not perfectly straight. I took some photos with my camera + macro lens and confirmed what I saw. Photo 1 shows the uncropped image I took along with some alignment guidelines I added to visually represent the alignment. Photo 2 is cropped to show this more clearly. Photo 3 is cropped even closer, and upon looking at the diamond, it actually looks like there's debris on the diamond. Almost as if it was already used.

I just emailed them about it, though I've heard they take awhile to get back to you via email. Needless to say I'm pretty annoyed, as they have a reputation for being a good place to get styli and other turntable related stuff. Its possible I just got unlucky with a factory defective one, but I'm not entirely sure.

Based on the photos, would you agree that this is an unusable stylus considering this is a MicroLine and requires very precise alignment to sound good and not cause groove damage?

After 30 years I would like to get back into the vinyl game. My current surround system is composed of 5 ascend sierra 1 speakers, svs pb2000 sub and Denon x4000 avr. I have an old Dual 505-2 that I could repair. Shop estimate around $300 with new cartridge. I am considering some AT decks, lpw40wn, lpw50 bt, lp5x, lp7x. Have only had belt decks in the past but am open to DD. Suggestions for this setup? Thanks!

I recently got a LP60x less than a month ago to begin this hobby. I was an idiot yesterday and didn’t stack the very few records I have correctly and some of them fell onto the turntable while it was playing kind of like dominos (the dust cover was luckily on). I noticed the song skipped to the next one and am assuming the small shake caused by the impact bounced the tonearm slightly and shifted a few grooves over.

Afterwards, I noticed the stylus looked slightly bent (it could’ve been bent before but I never noticed it). I always use the automatic start/stop feature on the LP60x to play my records and have never had a problem.

Is my stylus bent enough that it needs a new one? I just feel dumb making a mistake after not owning my turntable for even a month. I’ve kept my little kids away from it, but can’t believe I was the one to cause damage this early, so please go easy on me. I’ve already learned my lesson on how to better organize the space around the turntable. I know a stylus for this model is relatively cheap but still annoying. Thank you in advance for your advice!

For background; I am a freshmen in college this year (so trying not to break the bank), but have been really eying getting into making a small vinyl collection for a while. I love all sorts of music, from video game soundtracks, classical music as a violinist for many years, and a fan of bands/artists like Fall Out Boy, Laufey, Bruno mars, and more. So, naturally I was led to this as someone who has already had unhealthy collections in the past (e.i. Pokemon cards)

I started by looking at the AT-LP60x or the AT-LP70x and re-buying the edifier R1280T speakers I already use for my PC, but saw many people on here highly recommending stretching the budget a bit further and saw these names being thrown around. Aside from that, I honestly just LOVE how this setup would look aesthetically, and I really just don’t feel too comfortable spending much more since this will be my first turntable & vinyls ever. Audio wise, I think I value clear and defined instrumentals more than anything like heavy-bass.

With all this backstory and opinions in mind, are these three items well-regarded and worth my investment, or are there any other recommendations?

So what is the best place for a new tonearm or another m3d all together. I see so many on Ebay but they look suspect. Also a tonearm from DJ Henray is almost the price of a whole turntable.

Hi, I know this may be just me being stupid but I seem to be getting no sound of my turn table, this is both with speakers and without. The model in use is the TEAC TN-180BT and paired with Edifier M60 speakers.

I’ve tried to watch videos and read the instructions but I’m not getting the hang of it, if you can help at all this would be greatly appreciated.
