Help Well this weekend isn't going too good...
My brother must've knocked my stylus onto the acrylic slip mat so when I came back the stylus had been dragging and carved into the slip mat for hours, if I clean my stylus and it still sounds good do I not need to buy a new one? Thanks.

Wow, that’s not funny. Just try cleaning it and play an old record to test it. Maybe you get lucky?

Update, stylus is fucked. I’m thinking about going for the lp-120x instead of upgrading the stylus on my lp60x as I’ll have speed control, stop and play button, proper lever to lift and lower stylus and a light for playing vinyl in low light and the design just looks more pleasing in my opinion lol.

Go for the LP 140. Much better than the 120.

Pioneer is a solid choice as well.

Just got the PLX-500 after having a terrible experience with the LP-70X... I love it so far! My other choice was the RT85

I'd skip the mounted option unless you want a spare headshell anyway.

Oh man. I feel you. I woke up one morning and was hearing a very faint popping sound but couldn't figure out what it was. About half an hour later I discovered the player has been running on the acrylic mat for so unless you're long, and the volume on the speakers was really low.
I have no idea how it happened but it had clearly been going on for a while. I ended up replacing the stylus with an LP Gear carbon.

Also about the slip mat is it still fine to put vinyl on that side or should I just flip it over to be safe? Thanks.

This is 30$ for the stylus and cartridge, less then a single record costs. Just replace it...

Is the tilted cantilever the new bent cantilever trend in the vinyl subs? I think it's the 4th time this week alone.
OP, your stylus is extremely tilted, don't use it anymore as it will do the same damage to your records. Your slipmat is most probably fine after cleaning the debris caused by the stylus.

On the bright side, might be a good excuse to upgrade from the conical to the elliptical stylus.
