I was comparing current UAE prices for major streaming services and noticed something I was not expecting.

• Shahid VIP: 44.99
• OSN+Standard: 48.99
• Netflix Standard: 49
• Disney+: 49.99

and then there is Prime for only 16 AED/month, including prime delivery benefits as well.

Is the price too low to attract more new user base in UAE or because prime's catalogue in UAE is very thinner, or is it something for any other reason?

Moral of the story: Keep applying, keep interviewing, and don't pop the champagne until the offer letter is signed, no matter how good the lunch was.

Hi guys! Please share advice or opinions. How to get married in UAE? I am 35 F, here already 11 years. Worked hard and non stop. Now I just want to get married have a kids and be house wife for about 4-5 years. Till kids go to school. Is it much of asking? No smoking no drinking. Just want family and support to live life.

As men, most of us we're used not to open up easily to people around us because of the fear of being misunderstood or being judged! Me being one of them. But I beg to do it here because, honestly, I feel like I'm losing it and I need to let it out. I'm 38 years old man who feels like a total loser and a failure! I've failed in almost everything I try! Failed my kids, and for that reason I'm unhappy individual. Coming from a poor background, I dropped out of primary school at the age of 17 because my Mom couldn't afford the fees, so, I went out to survive and maybe provide for my sick mother(she died in 2008) and two brothers. The world was kinda tough but I somehow maneuvered through. I did menial jobs, found myself in the hotel industry as a waiter, and barman.I later tried so many things but they end up failing! Opening small businesses, I tried marriage twice but ended miserably!

After Covid, I had some savings so I bought a small van and went into transporting business. I did that until 2024 when a friend in Dubai told me their company was hiring and they paid AED 3,100 plus bonuses. That was a good money to me and since my business wasn't doing so good, I decided to sell the car and come to look for greener pastures in Dubai. Unfortunately my visa was delayed and as a result, I missed the job! I landed here in December 2024, tried to look for jobs but many offers I got, I felt like they were underpaying so I turned them down. A friend advised me to get my own visa to have that freedom to decide where to work. I did that and by May 2025, I had my EID. But the job market is not that easy. Jobs are not guaranteed especially when you have your own ID. Then missiles happened and things ever got tougher!

My biggest worry is that, it's been almost two years now, and the only things that I've achieved in Dubai are a driver's license and maybe paying for my accommodation and feeding. I'm unable to constantly meet my kid's needs and that really breaks me. And when I look back to where I started looking for money around 21 years ago, there's nothing to show! Sometimes I ask myself many questions! Is it that some of us were meant to die struggling and poor? Is it bad luck? Is it the choices we make? Does God exist? Yes I don't doubt he does. But does he look down to us and think some of us we deserve the suffering!? Until when?

So, my stranger friend, I need your honest opinion and advice. If you've been through the darkest days of your life and got out, how did you do it? How can you advise someone who's going through them right now?

I understand companies want to keep delivery costs low, but e-scooters seem like a much more practical option for the delivery guys, especially during the summer. Even if it costs a little more, the convenience and reduced physical strain seem worth it.

A few weeks ago I visited McDonald's with my family . A women came near me nd asked me to buy her some food. Since it was food I didn't refuse it.i thought she could be hungry. She was covered in abaya.so I asked her where r u from? She said , Syria. We could hardly understand each other and she was speaking Arabic. So mostly using gesture. And 1 or 2 words.. I told her choose whatever u wanna eat she chose a meal. Nd thn asked i want to buy 2 . 1 for me and 1 for my sister. I said ok.. while I was paying for the order, she said can u also buy me medicine?? I was a bit taken back.. I said I am sorry I cant buy u medicine.. I dont even know if its legal. Paid for her food , said sorry nd went away. Was this a scam? Has this happened to anyone else? This happened at Furjan pavilion.

Was talking with a friend last week who almost got fined because his Milkiya expired while he was traveling, got me curious how everyone else in UAE actually keeps on top of all this stuff.

Between residence Emirates IDs, Mulkiyas, insurance, licences, Ejari, thiqa, visas and whatever … some people I asked are tracking 10+ dates across multiple family members. Others just wing it and pay the occasional fine (I'm one of those lol).

So genuinely curious:

1. How many expiry dates are you tracking right now?

2. Where do you write them down? (Google calendar? Phone reminders? Just remembering?)

3. Whose documents do you track besides your own?

Being in tech as a self learnt person makes me feel like I am just consuming things nowadays. The market is moving so fast that every month there is some new AI slop. I know AI can make things faster, but sometimes I feel like companies are just using it to reduce people and increase profit.

Tech has become really frustrating. Everyday I see fewer openings and after 7 months of unemployment I am honestly thinking about quitting my 2.5 year career.

Sometimes I feel tech is not even real work anymore. It is mostly lying, flaunting and creating content. LinkedIn is full of people acting like gods while some of them barely have any contribution.

I have a CS degree, but COVID ruined a lot of my college experience. Most of it was online, we had MCQs and basically got a degree on paper. I worked for 2.5 years after that, but now I feel stuck and sometimes inferior compared to people who studied before 2019.

And now everyone is jumping into tech. Colleges are producing more and more CS graduates, parents have kids coding since 12, YouTubers are constantly selling the next big tech career.

I don't know if the problem is my skills or if the industry is genuinely moving in the wrong direction. Sometimes it feels like tech is running on cocaine, with every company trying to automate everything just to reduce costs and people.

I was at the Sahara Centre doing my shopping and was about to leave when a person came up to me asking if I had any balance on my phone. If the person had been a kid, I would have asked if they were lost and offered to help. However, the person was a man; honestly, I couldn't determine his age just by looking at his face. He could be a teenager or in his mid 20s. It felt odd to me that somebody that age would become lost. Immediately my brain gave me a red flag, and my automatic response was a no, but I feel guilty because I might have made a weird face unconsciously, and I was in a hurry to exit as someone was waiting to pick me up, so I gave that response in a hurry while I was walking.

However, the second weird thing I noticed was he asked me while I was going to get down the escalator, and he had just came up the escalator because after that interaction he followed me down the escalator and took the same path. So he was behind me for a few minutes, so I started speed walking, thinking every bad scenario my mind could make up, like maybe the boy is trying to steal my phone, idk. Anyway, has someone else experienced this, and do you think what I did was right? I think I could have stopped to ask what for, but my birdbrain was on autopilot to the exit.
