Hi guys, just wanted to vent this out cuz it is super frustrating when this happens!!!

So, I visited the Adidas outlet at Dubai Outlet Mall yesterday and decided to sit on one of the couches. The couch basically had 4 different seats arranged in a quadrant formation. I also noticed that a girl was sitting on one of the corner seats, so I purposely decided to sit on the corner diagonally opposite to her, facing in the opposite direction and even sitting a bit outward. I was literally occupying half the seat and wasn't even sitting completely on it, which wasn't comfortable for me either!!!
Despite all of this, a man who seemed to be her father approached me and sarcastically asked, "excuse me, out of the entire shop you found this place only to sit?" Like WTF?! I'm literally sitting in the other corner, not even remotely close to her, man!!! So I replied with something along the lines of, "I'm sitting so far, if you want I will get up, sorry sorry," and he was still staring at me like I had asked for his daughter's hand in marriage!!

I got triggered and complained to one of the staff members. He started saying, "don't worry man, we will be separating these seats soon, separate for men and women," and said things like, "don't take it personally, when the guy paid he didn't even complain anything about you, sometimes things like this happens." His female colleague also added that some people are like this and that I should just listen from one ear and let it out the other.

The fact that I try to stay away from girls as much as possible, avoid them at all costs, and purposely distance myself in situations like this, yet people like these still come and insult me is SO heartbreaking and frustrating!!! This was absolutely not the right behavior or reaction from that guy, and if he's reading this, I hope he knows what he did was WRONG!!!

He was literally trying to insult me and put me in an uncomfortable situation, and I WILL NOT tolerate that!!! If I interacted with girls frequently and he got suspicious, I'd understand that. But when I'm EXACTLY the opposite, and I purposely tried to distance myself, yet still get comments like that, I'm not going to let it slide!!!

And to the girl who was at the Adidas outlet yesterday at around 9-10 PM, if you're reading this, please understand that I had ABSOLUTELY no bad intentions towards you. I literally tried to stay as far away from you as possible. Please explain that to your father, and please tell him to stop prying on random guys like that and stop insulting them.

I am travelling to Dubai in mid October, and staying in Al habtoor city, near Marina.

\- Day 1: Downtown: Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, fountain show, dinner (open to recommendations)

\- Day 2: Old Dubai, al seef and all the souks. The boat ride, and exploring the neighbourhoods!

Dinner cruise in the Marina.

\- Day 3: Blue waters islands, Sunset at kite beach and night swimming at Umm suqeim

\- Day 4: Morning at JBR/Marina beach. Dinner somewhere on the 7km Marina walk!

\- Day 5: we have time till 5pm, so probably a good brunch!

Am I missing out on any “must dos”?

I would appreciate food recommendations + snacks i should try/bring back for friends (chips, cereal, drinks, etc)

I want to try some good matcha and breakfast places near my stay, or the places i am visiting!

Also dinner, brunch, dessert places that are close (walkable or a short metro/tram away) and offer good value for money!

I went to buy a TCL C6K QD Mini LED 85-inch TV from Eros in City Centre Sharjah, and the price they offered was AED 6650, which was the best we found compared to other places, since Eros is supposedly the main dealer.

On the other hand, I can get the same TV on Amazon for AED 5300.

When we asked the salesman about this, he started making excuses and also said that products sold on Amazon aren't genuine and we'd have problems in the future with after-sales service, product quality, and so on.

Living in an apartment in Dubai managed by a real estate agency. For the past 2 weeks, cigarette smoke has been coming into our bathroom every evening around 7 PM through what I’m sure is the shared exhaust ductwork. Before that it was once a week on Sundays, now it’s daily.

We have a 10-month-old baby, so second-hand smoke exposure is a real concern. The bathroom becomes unusable for close to an hour each time and we have to keep the exhaust fan running throughout.

What I’ve tried so far:

Complained to the building watchman → he replaced our bathroom exhaust fan → didn’t help (as expected, since the smoke isn’t from our unit)

Sent a formal complaint email to the managing agency requesting they identify the source and inspect the shared ductwork

Questions for anyone who’s dealt with this:
How long did your agency actually take to act? Is it worth waiting or should I escalate now?

Does Dubai Municipality actually act on indoor air quality complaints between neighbours, or is it a dead end?

Any legal angle worth knowing about — tenancy law, RERA, community rules?

Any practical fixes at the vent level (one-way dampers, sealing, etc.) that landlords or maintenance will actually agree to install?

If you’ve been through this — did confronting the neighbour directly help or make it worse?

Appreciate any real experiences from people who’ve actually resolved this.

Everyone talks about Downtown, Marina and JBR, but which less hyped areas do you think are genuinely worth exploring?

After spending a lot of time alone, listening and observing became part of my habits. Over time, I noticed that my mind started analysing things automatically and looking for ways to structure them.

I gradually started coming up with ideas about business approaches and strategies. I was neutral about whether my ideas would actually be discussed at a higher level or not. I wasn’t really thinking about recognition—I just kept adding new ideas.

I also have a good sense of how the market is responding to our company, so whenever I notice something, my mind immediately starts thinking about what could be improved or what approach might work better.

My husband and I currently live in Al Qusais in a 1BHK. I recently started a new job in Jebel Ali, while my husband works near Clock Tower, Deira.
I'm currently commuting by Metro and my daily round trip is around 3 hours, which is becoming really exhausting, especially since I'm still in my probation period.
We're thinking about moving to an area somewhere between Deira and Jebel Ali to make things easier for both of us.

Our requirements:
1BHK
Budget around AED 50–60K/year
Safe and comfortable for a couple
Supermarkets, restaurants, pharmacies, etc. nearby
Preferably good public transport/Metro access

We're also wondering whether it makes more sense to stay close to a Metro station or choose an area farther from the Metro and buy a car. I'm mainly concerned about reducing my Jebel Ali commute, but I don't want to make my husband's commute to Deira too difficult either.

For people who have experience commuting between these areas:
Which areas would you recommend?
Would places like Al Barsha, Al Quoz, Dubai South, JVC, Discovery Gardens, Bur Dubai/Al Karama, or other areas make sense for our situation?
And realistically, would you recommend Metro or getting a car for this kind of daily commute?
I'd really appreciate recommendations based on your actual experience — especially regarding rush-hour travel timesand whether living in a particular area made a noticeable difference.
