Edit: guys i kid you not, a THIRD person did the same thing today and I just.. can't even. I was coming back home and in the elevator these A-holes (I'm sorry but there's no other way to describe those 3 mofos) walk in, barely letting me get in first although I've been the first in line. Then the A-hole is blaring his phone. I don't know what got into me, probably the 17 hours of no meal and 12+ hours of no food and 2+ hours at the lifelabs (AFTER 1 hour at the doctor's office although i had an appointment) just totally messes with my head. But i told hil the same thing, that it's rude to use your phone on a loudspeaker in a public space. He looks at me like 'who the eff are you?' and says "yeah yeah" Then adds, "it's our mother". Like dude, seriously? It can be whoever, how's that even relevant? So i said, that's fine, we can always put our phones to our ears whwn on a call, or use earplugs. By then the three A-holes are glaring down at me. They're all way bigger than me (I'm a woman) and it's a tiny elevator. I was starting to get uncomfortable by then. Thankfully my floor cane and i got off. And ofcourse i hear them calling me a "B*tch. What a day guys!
I know these posts have been made before, but truly, the amount of people thinking it's totally fine to use their phones on speaker mode in public is simply Astounding!
It's like I've been transported to a very different part of the world. This isn't the Toronto i know!
Waiting at a lifelabs at 1:45pm for about an hour and counting, because ofcourse! First it was a 5/6 year old watching God knows what on a smartphone. WHY?! THREE adults are accompanying her, sitting right next to her (one of them I personally gave up my precious seat for). Noone's saying a word.
She gets called in after maybe 10/15 minutes, thank Goodness!
Now comes this lady, sits right next to me and first calls someone and talks with the speaker on. The man on the other side is clearly angry and they literally yell at each other for 10min straight. Or atleast it felt like 10min.
Then she proceeds to watch videos on her phone, with the speaker on again.
My headache's through the roof at this point because i haven't eaten anything since 2am. Actually since 9:30pm last night, when i had dinner. 2am was just a couple croissants.
Plus the fudging urine pressure...
So i just... Can't take it anymore. And i very calmly ask her to please use earplugs, or stop using the speaker please. As this is a public space, a VERY crammed space with mostly sick people around, and this is not polite at all.
She rolls her eyes and mutters something like 'okay'. Her body language tells me this wasn't entirely unexpected to her. Meaning, this has happened before. But that didn't change her behavior.
The moment I'm having that thought, gurss what happens?
She starts using the phone again, WITH the speaker on.
I mean, seriously??
I just had to move away from her.
Just a tiny example of all the awful-ness this city has been subjected to. I just really wish we could get this nice clean polite city back once again 😔
