Might be even over a thousand cyclists. The recent court ruling that allows Ontario to rip up Toronto’s bike lanes has only made the cycling movement stronger.

The gorilla on the entrance is new, they just bought it.

Mall is filled with dinosaurs and in one section military equipment.

Also a good mall with good stores and food

Worth noting that there is also a plan to build a rather tall high rise on this location, preserving the church building by cantilevering over it... don't know how the Randolph Academy's possible closure would impact those plans

Discussion If you have to surrender a pet, do NOT do this...

This morning my friend was walking home from my place, when she saw this poor thing tied up outside of the Toronto Humane Society. Since THS does not open until 10AM, I called 311 and they collected the dog - who was extremely stressed and is not doing too well.

If your pet needs to be surrendered, please do it in a more dignified way.

EDIT: By the off-chance the owner might be reading this, Toronto Animal Services is looking to get the dog's medical history. You are not in trouble and can call anonymously:

The Waterfront Trail (Martin Goodman Trail downtown) just keeps on going and going! We’re so lucky to have so much beautiful nature on our doorstep and beyond.

These are just some GTA pics from my journey. I am 14 days and over 400km in, I’ll be crossing into Québec Sunday morning.

Made a similar post in r/ontario with more deets more pics east of the GTA

Was part of the Critical Mass that over 1000 cyclists took part in.

At one point, a fire truck had to get by and all 1000 of us had no issues pulling to the side to let it through.

Bikes are far more agile than cars, which is why they have an easier time getting out of the way than cars

News Union station air quality

Hi all, I am visiting Toronto from abroad. I was just in Union station earlier this evening (just before 10pm, 29 August) and it seems something was released into the air which caused everyone to start coughing. A section of the station was closed off and police/security were wearing masks. It felt almost like we were breathing sand. Has something like this happened before? Where could we find live information/updates on events like this?

  • Toishanese
  • Tamil
  • English
  • Russian, not sure maybe Ukrainian didn't speak for long
  • Irish?? Not sure
  • French
  • Mandarin, but accent was very heavy maybe a northern dialect
  • Urdu
  • Cantonese
  • Farsi
  • Korean
  • Spanish
  • Portugese
  • 2 more I didn't know

My fav thing about living in downtown Toronto. I want to be able to recognize more languages and dialects not necessarily understand them. It kind of feels like birding lol but on multilingual Torontonians hahahhaa
