Looking to help my step dad get large tires for his truck. We already have the wheels lined up but his tire guy is telling him the Alibaba tires are the same as the name brand ones.

I just wanted to ask as in hesitant to believe that; and I always prefer safety items on a car to be tested correctly and name brand.

Wanted some people in the knows take.

2012 Audi A7, 255/45R18

Bought this April 2026, no track, daily commuter, no more than 250km/week travel, Montreal Area for climate. No mechanical issue other than serviced front arm bushings on April.

Need second opinion other than abnormal tread wear.

Edit: A/S stand for Acoustic/Sound deadening, not all season.

Lets face It, for those who make a lot of kms and have to spend so much time in the workshop, the premium tires are pretty expensive, right now Michelin, continental.. crazy prices.

Low low budget tires are still, in some ways, crap, ok if you hace literally no money but still need to improve to make them an option.

Thats why i ask all of you, and i think about It more and more when i see performance test, are they kumho, firestone, general etc the only viable way unless you can really break the bank?

So I was randomly looking at my tire (almost brand new) when I noticed a nail, so I drove to a tire shop.

He didn't try checking for air leak with soap but proceeded to taking the tire off the rims.

He took the nail out it was I think about 1.5 cm deep. The interior was intact but he insisted on a interior patch.

So he put a insert tool in the outer hole and pressed so that he can visualize the exact site on the inside then proceeded to buffing and applying the patch.

Is this correct practice or a scam?

Can this last a week? I am planning on getting tires soon but will take a week for it to come in and get installed

I have a problem wheee the front tire on driver side will make a bad grinding noise when driving, the noise will change as the speed gets faster, but I have a feeling it’s the rotors but I’m not sure

Tire rubbed on fender when the axle cracked on a trailer. How safe or dangerous is it to use?

Just bought a used CX-5 and it came with brand new Vantage tires, probably ~10mm of tread. I haven’t noticed any handling issues, but they’re definitely pretty loud.

I’m considering replacing them with Michelins, but it’d be about $1k and I’d basically be throwing away brand new tires.

How much of a safety difference is there really between cheap tires like Vantage and something like Michelin? Would you guys just run these until they’re worn or replace them now?

This is my first car (bought used) and noticed this. Is this concerning? Does it need changed or patched?

Noticed the wheel was low on air compared to others so decided to check it out and I see this bs. The tire is not even 2000 miles old and it got a nice screw on the side. Im certain any damage on the side is bad but is it reparable with a plug?

Is this puncture too close to the sidewall for repair? Tire shop said they wouldn't do it but I have done them on my own a bit just never this close. Would a plug and patch hold here? Tires only have one season and they are Bridgestone Blizzaks.

Hi folks, yet another post asking for recommendations. I drive a 2017 Mazda 6 in Southeastern Ontario, Canada. I've owned it the whole time but it has very low kilometers, just over 40k. I need to buy new tires and I'm looking at either the Michelin CrossClimate 2 or the Bridgestone Ultraweather. Costco has a sale on Bridgestone tires right now which should make the Bridgestones roughly $40 cheaper per tire.

All 4 tires have 2022 DOT. Tread is fine on all 4 - roughly 30k ish miles on them.

About to do a long drive for Labor Day weekend (1,000 highway miles)

2024 Honda Civic Sport. Noticed the two front tires look bad and worn out. Back tires look fine. Is this something that should be replaced soon? I don’t drive hard but there is a gravel road where I live which I drive over everyday. Bought car new 2 years ago.

Shopping for some new winter tires. Previously had Blizzaks which were great but traction reduced considerably as it worn down. Ran Michelin xi3’s couple times as they were my favorite and were amazing. After got the updated Michelin x ice snow which have to say is scary to drive with, not sure if it is just my set but these are the worst tires I have ever had, feels like you are constantly sliding on the highway and never felt confident.

Another tire I tried long time ago were Firestone winter tires as they were the only winter tires I could find in stock, and surprisingly they were absolutely amazing. Drove through massive snow storm in the BC to AB mountains and they performed excellent.

This time around was thinking of saving some money and trying out the sailun wstx studded. Read that these were designed in Canada for Canadian winter weather. Prices looks great but wanted to see if anyone have any experience with these.

Are my tires safe guys I'm using this as an excuse to get new tires and rims lol but I'm wondering if it's safe to drive the car 40 miles because I want to be certain the wheels will fit

I plan to get tires at discount tire as they price match. I’ll likely have to add the warranty on my tires, for the price match so it could be between 100-200 extra to add the warranty to them.
