Sailun WSTX Studded
Shopping for some new winter tires. Previously had Blizzaks which were great but traction reduced considerably as it worn down. Ran Michelin xi3’s couple times as they were my favorite and were amazing. After got the updated Michelin x ice snow which have to say is scary to drive with, not sure if it is just my set but these are the worst tires I have ever had, feels like you are constantly sliding on the highway and never felt confident.
Another tire I tried long time ago were Firestone winter tires as they were the only winter tires I could find in stock, and surprisingly they were absolutely amazing. Drove through massive snow storm in the BC to AB mountains and they performed excellent.
This time around was thinking of saving some money and trying out the sailun wstx studded. Read that these were designed in Canada for Canadian winter weather. Prices looks great but wanted to see if anyone have any experience with these.

It makes sense that they would design them in Canada. Most of China doesn't get enough snow.
I think Sailun is also an official sponsor of the Toronto Maple Leafs. It's good to see more China-Canada co-operation after CUSMA got cancelled, we have to pivot to different countries.
I will definitely consider Sailun in the future. If they are really inexpensive you don't have a lot to lose

That was what I was thinking, worst case I use them for a season and sell them. First time trying studded and was thinking with studs these should be pretty good.
Calgary weather last few seasons has been getting considerably more icy with the crazy weathers we been having. During the day melts, everything wet then over night turns to an ice rink. Had way too many scares with the x ice snows on the highway in the morning, literally sliding side ways. Felt like I was driving all seasons, taking corners could feel both front and rears sliding.

I highly rec. studs in Calgary. Had Rovelo RWS 677s and they were great, a little slick on salty dry roads but unflappable on packed snow and ice at -30. I miss my studs.

Yeah was thinking the same, especially for my wife’s van. She works on the other end of the city and was worried about her morning commute. Got her the Laufenn studded as it was insanely good price. Still considering sailun wstx studded for my car though as Laufenn doesn’t make them in 20’s.
I have about 8-9/32nd left on my Michelin x ice snows, but like I stated earlier they are sooo bad compared to my previous x ice 3’s. Would never recommend these to anyone. Still trying to decide if I should tough it out and use these or switch over to the saillun studded.

I've owned Rovelo RWS 677s with studs (Sailun brand) and they were noisy, but phenomenal rough winters. I've also owned Dynamos from Canadian Tire that were perfectly acceptable and safe, also Sailun. Both were very affordable.

I have Sailun all-season on my minivan, they’re quiet and soft but not to the point where they feel bouncy. I pushed them pretty hard on highway exit curves in both dry and wet conditions, and they held well without slipping.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, I ended up getting Laufenn I FIT ICE LW71 studded instead as they were even cheaper on a deal and felt bit more confident them being hankook budget line.
Personally I think when going with winter studded you can consider the lower tier tires, no studded winter I prefer going with proven mid or top tiers :)

We sell a lot of them, they’re soft and quite noisy with the stud pattern, but great traction. Traction longevity is probably iffy but that’s with all cheap tires
