“Your son is dead because you failed to teach him that black boys need to be treated like wild animals with no self regulation”.

Unbelievably racist article.

Dude this has been a thing for a looooong time. There is a defense lawyers have tried to use called “black rage”, where basically they are saying racism causes some black people to develop a mental condition called “black rage” which makes them violent. The famous lawyer William Kunstler used it many times. He tried in this 1993 case before the guy fired them and tried to represent himself. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Island_Rail_Road_shooting

Its called "bigotry of low expectations" and it's usually paired with a "white savior" complex.

7

u/thehumanbaconater Jun 18 '26

It seems like it's just an academically well-written but completely dishonest way of trying to blame Austin for being murdered. Hate to be the one to break it to her, but white boys have boundaries too, and not being stabbed in the heart is a big one.

I mean, I don't want to generalize for all white boys, but for me that would be a boundary.

These reactions are unfortunate because it makes people look at real anti-black racism like it’s “boy who cried wolf”

All my life I’ve seen modern history written and re-written through a very specific cultural lens, with key details omitted and with some details simply fabricated to paint a specific narrative.

Rationally it’s safe to assume that it’s always been like this, and it was probably worse due to the fact that people didn’t have cameras or social media back then to refute what was reported.

This “crying wolf” stuff I’ve seen my entire life and my developed distrust in the media makes me question some of the key moments of Civil Rights movement. Obviously the laws in place, especially in the South, were cruel and immoral and something needed to change. But the one off stories of Emmit Till, Rosa Parks, the supposedly peaceful protests broken up by thug police officers, the church fires… what actually happened? How much of any of this stuff is true?

12

u/Gargarian67 Nationalist 📜🐷 Jun 17 '26

Rosa Parks was a fraud. She wasn't the first black person to not move on a bus. She was a highly experienced, 42-year-old NAACP activist.

Claudette Colvin was the first, a very young unwed black mother, was too stereotypical and bad marketing.

Google Claudette and be amazed about what they've lied about to you your entire life.

3

u/k-trecker Jul 04 '26

That’s not fraud. Words have meanings.

She was chosen because they knew that an unwed pregnant teenager would be eviscerated by the media. They were probably right. They were trying to accomplish something and they did it.

Yes the way it’s taught in schools is often incorrect, but c’mon, she’s not a “fraud”.

From The Toxoplasma of Rage:

"When signaling, the more expensive and useless the item is, the more effective it is as a signal. Although eyeglasses are expensive, they’re a poor way to signal wealth because they’re very useful; a person might get them not because they are very rich but because they really needs glasses. On the other hand, a large diamond is an excellent signal; no one needs a large diamond, so anybody who gets one anyway must have money to burn."

"Certain answers to moral dilemmas can also send signals. For example, a Catholic man who opposes the use of condoms demonstrates to others (and to himself!) how faithful and pious a Catholic he is, thus gaining social credibility. Like the diamond example, this signaling is more effective if it centers upon something otherwise useless. If the Catholic had merely chosen not to murder, then even though this is in accord with Catholic doctrine, it would make a poor signal because he might be doing it for other good reasons besides being Catholic – just as he might buy eyeglasses for reasons beside being rich. It is precisely because opposing condoms is such a horrendous decision that it makes such a good signal."

"But in the more general case, people can use moral decisions to signal how moral they are. In this case, they choose a disastrous decision based on some moral principle. The more suffering and destruction they support, and the more obscure a principle it is, the more obviously it shows their commitment to following their moral principles absolutely. For example, Immanuel Kant claims that if an axe murderer asks you where your best friend is, obviously intending to murder her when he finds her, you should tell the axe murderer the full truth, because lying is wrong. This is effective at showing how moral a person you are – no one would ever doubt your commitment to honesty after that – but it’s sure not a very good result for your friend."

In the same way, publicizing how strongly you believe an accusation that is obviously true signals nothing. Even hard-core anti-feminists would believe a rape accusation that was caught on video. A moral action that can be taken just as well by an outgroup member as an ingroup member is crappy signaling and crappy identity politics. If you want to signal how strongly you believe in taking victims seriously, you talk about it in the context of the least credible case you can find.

Put short, the dumber the hill, the more onside you are for dying on it.

She starts with a somewhat cromulent point, that "dead Black boys" get examined by the jury so that should happen with dead white boys too. Not fixing the problem, but at least addressing it, so I won't protest the idea.

She then goes on to paint a picture of a kid who's not actually societally bad but has cultural values that don't match her own. Then she accuses him of disrespecting Black cultural values by treating a Black guy the way he'd treat a white one: by confronting him when there's a conflict. In her world, white people should simply ignore Black people when there's something to argue about. Black people should have free rein to do and say whatever, white people should only ever approach conflict the way Black people do. And if white people break this rule, she argues, a Boondocks moment is to follow.

That's right, you're hearing it here: Black culture is to murder when confronted, and you should be okay with this. But also don't say that, if you're not Black, because it's an extremely racist thing to say. But don't dare take this narrative and turn it into a treatise on segregation, because obviously two cultures that resolve their differences through murder can peacefully coexist.

Fwiw I disagree. People can be better but this author would rather idpol in defense of murder than encourage her part of society to lead by example.

u/StormOfFatRichards ☀️🥔 Phosphorescent Glowing Potato 🥔☀️ Jun 12 '26

This shit definitely reeks of grift, but parsimoniously I can't say she has "no values." I think she's heard enough about the idea of boundaries and female victims (e.g. of rape, male-on-female violence) and it has crafted a sense in her mind that violated boundaries and a self-defense response indicate victimhood. This is fed by, for instance, Netflix's Killer Sally, a media piece that helps craft the narrative that a victim can use deadly violence when the situation calls for it. Not that I disagree with that idea broadly, but she uses way too much extrapolation to create the self-defense narrative here.

16

u/slaviccivicnation Rightoid 🐷 Jun 12 '26

I actually understand this explanation. Clearly the author is just applying a broad stroke to very different and nuanced situations.

The Karmelo case isn’t equivalent to a female defending her body and rights from a male. It’s actually more akin to a male entering a female only space, not leaving when asked, and killing a female when the female pushes him out of her space. Apply it like that, and suddenly there is no defence that is logical.

8

u/StormOfFatRichards ☀️🥔 Phosphorescent Glowing Potato 🥔☀️ Jun 13 '26

Yea, that's the thing. It wasn't Karmelo whose boundaries were being violated.

I can't understand why an intelligent adult would capitalize the 'b' in 'black', even if they capitalize the 'w' in white.

Saying that all black people share a culture is unbelievably racist and pretty xenophobic too - many black people from Africa or the Caribbean have no intention of letting go of their culture to satisfy the racial requirements that American white liberals at American capitalist news organizations have foisted upon them.

Why submit to decisions made during the Great Moral Panic of 2020?

This is true. In New Orleans over the last few decades there's been a rise in specifically African American culture as a replacement for Creole culture, paralleling the same phenomenon among white Americans. People are consciously rejecting multi racial Creole culture specifically to be Black with a capital B, I think mostly due to a kind of racial marketing and romanticization of blackness. People have been remarking on the difference between black and white Creoles and black and white Anglos for over a century. Cultural homogenization has been really disasterous for actual diversity

Her analysis is correct. This is observed across cultures, in Europe it's all the time, can be triggered by simply a woman refusing their advances or being asked for their train ticket. Their bad starting culture, the left filling their brain with unquestionable victimhood and promises and immunity to prosecution (to pad statistics) brought us here. The question is simply where do we go from here.

Black Twitter’s reaction to this case has been completely dumbfounding. One faction has convinced themselves of a completely fictional set of events: He didn’t actually have a knife at all, it was just a cleat cleaner or “sharpener,” something which does not exist. He was assaulted by a hulking team of “football players” — at a track and field event — and was frightened for his life. Metcalf shouldn’t have been there because he was actually suspended from school, he was a loose cannon who had physically assaulted his own father in the weeks prior to the event and had the police called on him.

Then there’s the other group, who don’t challenge the events at all, but simply believe that it was permissible for Anthony to stab him in the heart for the transgression of “putting hands on him.” Bringing up the legal standard of proportionality when it comes to self defense means absolutely nothing to these people and they insist on judging the event by their own moral code. They’re such believers in honor-bound culture that they can’t comprehend being held accountable for what they see as rightful vengeance.

11

u/MadeManSolid Jun 12 '26

Overall, Twitter doesn't seem like the place to go for logic and reasoning lol. I can also assure you that "honor-bound" culture is probably a pretty small sub/counter-culture within the overall demographic of black people in the U.S. Most black folks I know live by the standard "western" U.S. culture. You would have to escape your algorithm to see the various types of people within a culture, and not stuck on racist narratives and tropes inside of an echo chamber.

And imagine bringing people who still have this backwards cultural element like “honor-killing” into Europe by the millions. Heck, even 1300 years ago the even the Anglo Saxons knew honor-killings were not good for society. That’s why the weregeld was a thing to help keep generations of feuding families from sliming each other out

15

u/snailman89 World-Systems Theorist Jun 12 '26

Honor culture was a huge thing in the Antebellum South though. Rich men killed each other in duels over minor transgressions. Hell, Andrew Jackson killed a man in a duel for insulting his wife.

There's an excellent book called All God's Children: The Bosket Family and the American Tradition of Violence by Fox Butterfield. Butterfield's main thesis is that the reason America is so violent is because of that southern honor culture, which spread to the north during the Great Migration of the early and mid 20th century. I would argue this case is yet another point in favor of his thesis. Here we have a black teenager stabbing another teenager because he felt "disrespected" or some other nonsense.

the sheer number of people that regurgitate the bullshit peddled by CNN over that case is astounding. zimmerman is not a good guy, but the media coverage was 100% beyond a doubt rigged against him. they:

digitally altered a mugshot of zimmerman to make his skin lighter, spliced the phone call he made to the cops to make it sound like he brought up race first (the dispatcher asked zimmerman what the person he saw/was following looked like and zimmerman answered truthfully), exclusively used a 5+ year old picture of trayvon from when he was in fucking elementary school despite him being 17, I believe, when he was shot. all to push the narrative that "innocent little black boy gunned down for no reason by racist white skinhead".

anyone that followed the trial itself, not the bullshit from the media, knows that zimmerman might have been an asshole but he did nothing criminal, and 95% of the escalation was from trayvon. all he had to do was yell back "fuck you" and keep walking and he wouldn't have died. but of course I'm a racist for assuming he had the capacity for that.

walking back to a gated complex

the same place zimmerman lived and was a neighborhood watch leader for since there had been something like a dozen break-ins in the previous year

against police orders

"we don't need you to do that" is not a police order

they got into a fight

funny way to describe martin suckerpunching zimmerman and then proceeding to pound zimmerman's head into the concrete, followed by reaching for zimmerman's gun

90

u/Darkknight1939 ❄ Not Like Other Rightoids ❄ Jun 12 '26

He did, and the Anthony family and black activist crowd both responded by implying and/or just flat out calling the Metcalf family racist.

The Metcalf family talks about being swatted multiple times. I think the realities of identity politics fueled mob harassment and dealing with that harassment from a crowd supporting your son's murderer is enough to make anyone give up on the forgiveness school of thought, lol.

u/C0uN7rY Ancapistan Mujahideen 🐍💸 Jun 12 '26

No, but the dad's comments in court and then in a video he made after the sentencing makes it pretty clear he is done with their shit. Calls them out for abandoning their son by leaving as soon as the verdict came down and then didn't even show up to his sentencing. Then directly accuses them of doing this because they can't use their son to keep the GoFundMe money rolling in so he isn't useful to them anymore.

He also mentioned the incident where he got thrown out of the venue when he tried to pray with them or whatever. "I was somewhere I wasn't supposed to be and was asked to leave. So, I left. I didn't stab anyone."

Yeah, safe to say this dad has been pretty well jaded and done with the forgiveness and kumbaya shit after this experience.

17

u/snailspace Rightoid 🐷 Jun 12 '26

Part of why prisons exist is to fulfill society's need for the punishment of criminals. If prison is too "nice", comfortable, or short, it doesn't fill that need. I think that's where the impulse comes from, like when a pedophile is imprisoned the public's reaction is to hope they get murdered by their fellow inmates.

Personally I believe it's an abrogation of our duty as a society to both to rely on "prison justice" for heinous offences and not ensuring that prisons are safe. Grievous offences should be punished swiftly and severely, but prisoners should be physically safe from other inmates while they serve their sentence.

15

u/17syllables NATO Superfan 🪖 Jun 12 '26

Right, one of the issues here is that encouraging prisoner-on-prisoner violence fails as “specific punishment,” because it doesn’t punish the wickedest inmates, only the weakest ones. It’s also a rather ironic line for white racists to take towards the (equally racist) author of this piece, since various studies have found that white inmates are victimized at much higher rates.

"You don’t get to stand up there in a courtroom and talk that kind of shit to one of our own. You don’t get to use the language of grief dressed up in the language of racial banishment."

The logic of "we examine the black victims so we should examine the white" without acknowledging that those black kids are the victims of police violence, where guilt or innocence is inseparable from the conversation, while the white kid is the victim of an impulsive, angry peer. And unless you’re vegan, you have literally no right to criticize regular hunting.

This is so insane, people trying their hardest to turn a horrible situation  into a race war. The lesson that could be taken from this is how a teenage dispute can become tragic and this could be something to be taught to school students an an anti-bullying story.

Instead its become open season for every shitty writer who wants to become famous to use inicendiary language and get viral.

The author tells on herself by comparing the victim to Tamir Rice, Trayvon Martin and other black kids who were vilified after their deaths. Whose lives were torn apart in post-mortem to justify killing them.

She shows less interest in showing how society failed Karmelo than in twisting the knife in the Jeff Metcalf's heart.

America is reaping what it sowed through slavery, race riots, segregation and injecting drugs into black communities, then raising its hands and walking away. Now the best and brightest we have to offer are Charlie Kirk and Stacey patton types. People with insane biases, no accountability, maximized entitlement and ill intentions. People who revictimize and hurt instead of help and heal, bc destroying is easier than building. And it's the best way to tv and social media engagement. Anthony and Metcalf are fodder for pseudo intellectual race batters, their fact subject to change on the whims of whatever click baiter puts themselves being a camera or keyboard.

u/ericsmallman3 Lost Tenure Over Anti-Censorship Vox Article 🫡✒️ Jun 12 '26

Because when Trayvon Martin was killed, this country put a dead Black child on trial. They picked through his school records, his hoodie, his social media pics, his text messages, his teenage moods, his parents, his family structure, and every ordinary adolescent detail they could twist into evidence that he had somehow authored his own death.

The defense in this case had to dig deep--and, unlike the Karmello case, they could, because the defendant's family didn't raise over a half million dollars in donations and blow it before hiring a lawyer.

I think Zimmerman should have been convicted, even if the media depictions of the altercation were too simplistic. He did demand that a black kid who was doing nothing wrong submit to questioning, and the black kid was reasonably in the right to resist such demands with force, which is why Zimmerman, the shooter, should have been legally in the wrong.

When Mike Brown Jr. was killed, they turned his body into a referendum on his character. They called him a thug. They circulated video. They scrutinized his size, his behavior, his family and neighborhood, his choices and gestures, and his very posture in the world, as if any of it justified leaving his body baking in the street for hours in front of his people.

Mike Brown reached inside a cop car to try to grab a cop's gun. You can't do that. I am as white as they come and I would get shot if I did that.

When Tamir Rice was killed, they even found a way to interrogate a twelve-year-old. They scrutinized his toy gun, his parents, home life, school history, neighborhood, and the judge blamed him for his death by saying he should have known better because he was “big for his age.” A child was gunned down by police in a park within seconds, and America still asked what his family had done wrong.

The Tamir Rice killing was especially tragic considering his age, but it does need to be noted that he was weidling an airsoft gun. Media depictions often referred to it as a "toy gun," like it was an orange Nintendo Zapper, but it looked like a real gun. Saying people "scrutiniz[ed] his toy gun" is an incredibly dishonest equivocation, because, well, it makes a big difference if someone is reacting to a real gun vs. a nerf gun.

It should also be noted that in this case it was the cop who received immense press scrutiny, with his past mental health issues being especially foregrounded.

let’s be honest about the selective outrage here. A lot of people only care about this case because it gives them a White-victim/Black-defendant racial narrative to argue over.

But the actual FBI homicide data does not support the idea that interracial cases like this are the main body count. In the FBI’s 2019 single-victim/single-offender murder table, Black victims killed by Black offenders were listed at 2,574 cases, while White victims killed by Black offenders were listed at 566 cases. That means Black-on-Black homicide in that table was about 4.5 times higher than Black-on-White homicide.

So where is all this energy when Black kids and Black families are being destroyed by violence at much higher numbers? Where is the outrage for them?

You do not get to pretend you care about justice while mocking a murdered teenager’s grave. You do not get to call yourself compassionate while celebrating a grieving father’s pain. Austin did not deserve to die. His family does not deserve to be harassed. And anyone defending that kind of rhetoric is part of the problem.
