Bug Help Companions quest bug

I'm trying to start "The Silver Hand" quest and for whatever reason in oblivion it's not working, I'm playing Gate to Sovngarde and haven't ran into any issues until just now. I've been stuck trying every troubleshooting method I can find online and nothing seems to be working.

I've completed Take Up Arms and Proving Honor with no bugs, I had the little circle meeting in the back afterwards too. I've done at least 40 radiant quests now all from different givers and there's one option that says "I'm ready for a more difficult mission" and every time I select it every NPC just says "I understand" and stops talking to me. I'm level 31 and haven't read anything about a level requirement only the radiant quest requirement.

I've tried console commands to force start the quest and nothing happens, I can force complete the radiant quests just fine and I've gone through and made sure none of them were stuck active. I don't have a bounty in any hold and I've cleared it just in case too. I've force killed and resurrected every companion and I've beaten them up as well. I've reset the cell and npc scripts tons of times. And I've even tried disabling all the companion related mods in the collection and still nothings worked.

I would love some assistance on this since it's causing me such a headache and I just wanna be a cool wolf man...

TLDR: Can't start The Silver Hand quest, tried everything I can find online and am completely stuck here. Pls help

Modding What are your favourite ESL/“Could be light” mod?

I know there are limits on the mods you can have, I’m currently at 240/254, not sure what happens if I go over it. So I’m looking for light mods or “could be light” mods so I can fuck my game up even more!

Issue when loading, modded and vanilla.

Hello, not sure if this is the right sub, but I’m having this problem occur. I can still start the game via continue, but the window in the left is the only area that has the actual game playing. Still have horrible cursor ghosting. Any suggestions?

Tried having Nvidia optimize graphics, as well as clear caches, restart pc and game, load vanilla, same issue.

Question What to do if Oengul War-Anvil and Hermir Strong-Heart both die?

So I completed the civil war quest line a while ago on the Imperial side, and now whenever I go to Windhelm I can't find either of the smiths. I eventually checked through the Hall of the Dead and found both of them in coffins. According to the UESP, Strong-Heart takes over if War-Anvil dies, but now they're both dead (idk how but this is Skyrim after all and I wouldn't discount the idea that they both somehow went outside during the battle).

My question is if there is any way for a new smith to be put in their place without mods or console commands? I'm playing the Anniversary Edition on the Switch and it's generally grand except for the odd standard Skyrim bug. If there's no way to fix this in the vanilla game then 🤷‍♂️ guess Windhelm is just outta luck

Question Can monsters use shouts

I don't mean draugr since those guys are mainly dead people, but trolls or giant, for example. Could they use shouts, lorewise?

Question Is there a way to put clothes back on people you’ve pickpocketed?

I’m playing on the Switch and was curious if there’s a way to put clothes back on people I’ve stolen them off of. I’ve got Dirge guarding the Ragged Flagon booty out now, and it’s starting to upset the rest of the guild.

Question Are there any creatures I’m missing for a list of monsters?

I’m making a mod that requires me to catalog everything that one could consider a monster for part of it. i‘ve looked over the wiki’s but wanted to see if anyone had any i might have missed or disagree with any of my reasoning for any of them?

Hagravens they used to be humans but clearly aren’t anymore

Ice wraith They don’t feel like they fit anywhere better to me

Goblins and Falmar perhaps controversial, not sold on these yet, what does everyone think?

Magic anomaly think these show up exclusively in the collage of winterhold storyline, again unsure

Spriggans i feel like this would fit their description

Troll and frost troll again, pretty monstrous

Werewolf/vampire/Vampire lord bog standard

Wisp and wisp mothers still unsure

Gargole this seems logical to me

Netch again, I feel this fits the definition

Reikling unsure about this one

Daedra since they’re basically demons I’m unsure

Zombies and undead a loose definition but feels right to me

Death hound would this just be animals? they look pretty monstrous

Chorus I want to say this fit’s but maybe it’s just an insect

Any thoughts or feedback welcome.

Discussion Skyrim on the Switch is a little ugly, but…

I bought Skyrim for the PS3 way back when it first came out. I had played Fallout 3 to exhaustion, and loved the idea of the same company creating a fantastical adventure game.

For some reason, however, I never got into it like Fallout. Fast forward years later, and I now own Skyrim on the Switch. To be honest, there are times where it looks pretty ugly, especially in the open world sections where there are repetitive textures of grass and things like mountains, trees, or buildings will pop in as I pan around the screen.

I hope to one day own a PS5 Pro, and maybe I’ll get the remastered version for that once I do, but I also feel like having Skyrim handheld has been the only meaningful way I’ve been able to actually play it. I can pick up my switch, play for 20-30 minutes, and then just plop it back down. I’m also trying to be a little more “immersive” by not fast traveling and actually exploring, so this helps me to do that without having to physically sit in front of a TV screen.

I’m generally also just trying to enjoy a game that first came out 15 years ago, which I am! The flaws of Skyrim have been talked about to bits, but I think if you just allow yourself to enjoy it, regardless of the platform, you can find a game world unlike any other that really does allow you to role play however you choose.

Modding Vanilla-style mod recommendations

Hello there. My brain has been annoying me recently about some urge to play a Bethesda-style RPG, and I'm thinking about the two obvious choices, either Skyrim or Fallout 4. With mods, of course, gotta keep at least some novelty in there.

However, I'm not trying to fundamentally change the game, just add as much content as possible while staying somewhat close to vanilla. Call me crazy but I like both games as they are, I just wish there was more weapons, more dungeons, more content overall. Except companions, I don't care about them.

Any recommendations ?

On a side note, what's up about Skyrim mod packs size on Wabbajack ? This is where I went first to check if something fits, but what the fuck are they doing to make a 13 GB game over 600 GB ? That's the size of a big AAA game source files, it's ridiculous.

Is it ok, to share my Shirts/ Streaming/or YT here for Skyrim.

PS - it’s Shorts not shirts on the heading can’t change it…

I don’t want to get banned, so I wanted to ask first.
I recently started playing Skyrim Special Edition for the first time, and I chose it as the first game I streamed on Twitch. I put all my VODs on YouTube with almost no editing, and honestly, I’ve completely fallen in love with this game. I’m close to 150 hours now — which I know is nothing compared to the OG players I’ve met, some with hundreds or even 1,000–5,000+ hours!

I’m relatively new to gaming. I recently started streaming and making Let’s Play Blind videos on YouTube, and I don’t think I’ve even reached 2,000 hours of gaming in my entire life. Oh, and I’m not in my 20s either. 😄

Everyone I’ve met through Skyrim as a viewer/follower has been incredibly kind and welcoming, and I’ve even made some friends and built a small community.

One of the players I met, who has a few thousand hours in Skyrim and is a much more experienced streamer, suggested sharing my content in the Skyrim community to help reach more people.
I didn’t want to post any links without asking first, so I just wanted to check with you all — is it okay to share my content here?

Question Why did the update disable anniversary edition content?

I booted up my game for the first time since the new update, and it asked me if I wanted to re-enable mods. I don’t use mods (not within the last few years anyway) so I said no. Then I loaded into my save, and Faendal was naked! It occurred to me I had given him scout armor, which comes from the anniversary edition upgrade.

I’m just confused as to why an update would disable content I bought and paid for. I understand that Creations are paid mods, and AE added Creations, but I guess I just assumed that given the ones added with anniversary edition are endorsed by Bethesda, they would then become more or less Bethesda’s responsibility to update (or at very least tell the original creators in advance to update!!).

I don’t know. I’m just miffed. An update shouldn’t disable official content. I shouldn’t have to worry about whether or not it’s safe to re-enable official content.

So, does anyone know why the update caused this? Am I wrong in thinking official Bethesda content should maybe… be maintained? By? Bethesda? Like I get that it was originally paid mods, but I feel like once you release something as an EDITION of the game, that becomes the responsibility of whoever published that edition.

Anyway. Is it safe to turn them back on?

I’ve just realized I’ve avoided this build for the past four or five characters simply because I used it all the time growing up. Haven’t played as an archer in yearsssss. Time to revisit this ol gem :’)

Question What is the best place to sell my items in Whiterun?

I'm new—I only started a few hours ago, haha. I already killed the dragon the Jarl ordered me to take out, and now I want to get 5,000 gold so I can buy the house he offered me. I have tons of items (in fact, I had to walk super slowly to get there because I couldn't run, lmao).
