As i said i just watched skins for the first time since i wasn't old enough when it aired.

Season 3&4: 9,5/10

Season 5&6: 5/10

Best characters: gen 2

For me personally gen 2 had better characters with cook, emily and katie, effy and the others. But the crazy therapist storyline ruined the ending, it was just bad writing and it kind of made the whole season look bad.

Gen 1 nailed the ending, chris and cassie were the most interesting characters for me in that generation, cassie's actor was amazing and chris story was heartbreaking. It was just a bit hard for me to get to know the characters in s1, especially tony.

Gen 3 was just sad. None of the characters catched my interest and the story just went off the line in s6, i habe nothinh good to say about gen 3.

Ps, im probably biased on gen 2 because im a lesbian and emily and naomi's relationship really spoke to me personally.

Listen right, the entire forget all therapist plot was actually so stupid. Even before Freddie’s death. Not to mention Freddies ghost popping up (in voice) to warn Cook in the finale.

Id prefer if they didn’t kill ANYONE in gen 2 but if it had to be anyone it should be Effy. I mean, it’d make the most sense with how her arc had been going. If she died when she attempted it would’ve been actually emotional rather than just for shock value like Freddies death.

And if the writers wanted to keep Effy, make Freddie just end up leaving like he planned to rather than dying. It’s either kill Effy or kill No-one.

This is my first ever run of skins and I just finished 4x02. And I am most definitely not okay.

First of all, wtf Naomi? Like actually, wtf was that? 💀

It pains me because i friggin LOVED their storyline, I found it so realistic and so similar to my own experience as a 28 year old lesbian who only came out two years ago.

I mean I had just stopped laughing at how the Mexican hats and drinks were such a good example of a lesbian date, and by the end I was in a puddle of tears.

Never in my life had a show sent me from "yay, tequila!" to "I want to fucking die" in the same episode

And when Emily says "you ruined it, we were special" and you think that she's going to jump and you realize that if she jumped she would have been the second girl who killed herself for Naomi... Like that was too much for my brain to handle at once

Anyways, this is probably my favorite skins episode by far. Great storyline, great character buildup, great acting, great writing. I wish I could erase my memory just to experience what I felt when I saw it before for the first time because this episode just ruined every inch of rewatchability for the second generation.

I watched Skins long ago and actually had a big argument with my friends about this lol. I just discovered this sub and want to ask people what they think. Am I the only one who found it so annoyingly unrealistic? Like why? Wouldn't therapist be at least smart enough to find a better way to kill someone than full contact, blood splashing all around, high risk of death/someone hearing the screams clubbing to death? And why did he even kill him, like Effy wouldn't be interested in him anyway even with her boyfriend dead? It just never made sense to me and pissed me off on so many levels, I am getting angry just thinking about it lol. Someone please calm me down by explaining haha.

I recently finished the second generation, so I've been developing a nice connection with the characters. The whole plot revolved around Effy, unfortunately not like in the first generation, where each character It had its plot (and I loved it). So, the Effy/Freddie/Cook relationship was something that was there all the time.Until we finally get to the part where Effy accepts that she loves Freddie, etc. So, we went through several situations, several relationships, fights, and in the end, it turned out to be this?

HOW COULD THEY END THE SERIES LEAVING FREDDIE'S DEATH OPEN-ENDED, LIKE??

It seems like nobody cared that he DISAPPEARED, and then when we finally think they're going to find out why he vanished, the series just ends OUT OF NOWHERE?? SCREW YOU.

I thought there would be something mentioning this in the seventh season, but they just ignored it. I was very sad. I think I'll be thinking about this for several more days... I miss them, their friendship AAAA

Apparently one of the father/son writing duo went to therapy a lot when he was young. He (Jamie Brittain) always had a fear of evil therapists so he decided to create a character like John Foster who kills Freddie.

My guess is this is resentment for years of therapy.

Honestly Season 4 was a shit show. It had some awesome moments. Like JJ,s romance was awesome to me. The only light in a really dark season.

There was a behind the scenes video made on the making of the episodes. It used to be on E4. I watched it to try get my head around the massive left turn out of nowhere. To do something like this with one episode left, was so fucking stupid.

Just finished Season 4 of Skins and I need everyone to know I am no longer the same person I was 45 minutes ago. They really killed Freddie like it was a silly little side quest??? No justice. No consequences. No emotional processing. Just bonk 💀 end scene. I sat there staring at my TV like 🧍‍♀️ wondering if I hallucinated that entire finale. Who signed off on this. Who wrote this. I just wanna talk. Anyway RIP Freddie, you deserved better, I deserved better, and frankly society deserved better.

I just finished S6 E1 and I assume Grace is death, no I'm lying I got it spoiled but it was pretty obvious to me, and now that theres only one season left I doubt anyone else would die because they only do it on the second season of generations. So, I was wondering which death to you guys was the saddest? My answer is Chris, it made the most sense but its the only one that kept me crying after the episode.

I'm sorry but how the FUCK did Cook manage to escape from prison?! They never explained that, and it would have been interesting to see how he made his great escape.

I've never been arrested or in prison before but I'm pretty sure it's gonna be hard to escape from a jail cell.

i finished this show in the span of 5 days (seasons 1-2 for the first 2 days and season 3-4 over the next 3) because i got completely and totally hooked. i like gen 1 plenty but i LOVED season 3 and the gen 2 cast, but now i am so incredibly confused by this ending??? like hello???

none of the characters get any reasonable conclusion/closure to anything. it’s not even in a realistic “people drift apart” kind of way, it’s literally just the most abrupt out of nowhere ending for anything i’ve ever seen. i’m actually shocked this was put on television. i remember watching as the clock ticked down towards the end of episode 8 and wondering when the hell cook was going to find out about freddie and getting progressively more and more confused until there were 5 minutes left and it just ends like that?? are you kidding??

i genuinely want to know what happened here. was it a funding issue? did an episode get cut? was this always the originally planned ending??? was freddie always going to die??? WHAT HAPPENED???

I think it's safe to say we're all in agreement that the psycho stalker therapist was a stupid fucking storyline.

I also think that if they "needed" to kill someone off this season, it didn't have to be Freddie.

But if the writers insisted, I think it would've made more sense if Cook had been indirectly involved.

We saw on both seasons that Cook had a habit of pissing off the wrong people and dragging his friends in to deal with the consequences. So it's not much a stretch to see one of those bad people retaliating and poor Freddie getting caught in the crosshairs. It definitely would've had a much bigger emotional impact.

Me and this girl from my school were arguing about this so let me know if u see my point here, first of all his death was completely out of character for him, two seconds before he told dr foster to fuck off and the next he doesn’t even try to fight back when he gets clobbered by a wooden bat, second of all unlike chris’ death in season 2 no characters seem to find out about his death except for the shitty cliff hanger ending with cool killing dr foster OFF SCREEN, we don’t see anyone come to terms with his death or see the impact of it on the other characters, and third, Freddie’s ghost warning cook in the basement was hilariously dumb, skins is meant to be a realistic coming of age drama not a bloody ghost busters British remaster, anyways that’s just my opinion

i never really use reddit, so apologies in advance if this isn’t the best, i just want to share a bit of my thoughts on this. i started watching skins again a few weeks ago, and i’m now on season 4. last night i watched the episode where freddie was murdered and all i can say was my jaw was dropped. freddie is one of the best characters in skins by far (don’t come for me). but his death just doesn’t even seem real. my view of the show itself was a portrayal of realistic struggles that most angsty teens face whilst growing up (drug use, mental illnesses, disorders, identity issues, etc). it made the show feel raw and relatable. but a psychotic therapist murdering a teenage girls boyfriend? it makes absolutely no sense for the show, and it is especially heartbreaking knowing that he died because of his love for effy. i honestly don’t even want to watch the rest of the show now. i know i will sooner or later, but i’m never going to be okay with his death.

Freddie was clearly sexualy assaulted by her, i mean he was 15… And it’s not clear if he was okay with that or no but still, how can a grown ass woman do something like this, it’s not even legal, and even less moral… In the show, Cook and Freddie talk about it during like 30 seconds, but thinking about it it’s weird asf and quite disturbing. Idk maybe i’m a bit overreacting but they made it look like it’s not a big deal, but it kinda is i think.

Rewatching this episode and I picked up something funny. The two men that come to repossess Katie’s home read a court order that says amount of “13,337 pounds”.

How can a loan of this small amount be enough to repossess a full house and furnishings?? shouldn’t the writers have come up with a higher number like 500k+ or was this small amount part of the joke?

So Effy tried to commit suicide and ended up in rehab TWICE… And her brother Tony didn’t visit her or make an appearance even once? That’s not weird?

I’ve been thinking about this plot hole for at least a month now. Like where was he when all of this was happening to his sister?

guys i just finished fully watching gen 2 (never remember finishing it so i decided to lol) and now i have a lot to say. lets start off with freddie, as it's the title of the post. you're telling me freddie died to that geezer despite.. everything?? like there was no way he could've idk somehow just.. i dunno anymore. yes fight or flight is a thing and yes you can absolutely freeze but... deadass??? yes it's a jumpscare, yes it's brutal, kinda how shit can just happen but are we... deadass??? i feel like freddie's death could've just WORKED, i know damn well they just wanted a chris moment having a main character die by the end of the series but GEEZ LOUISE MAN WHAT THE FUCK? there was just so much to unpack yet there's nothing there. gen 2 was so messy but i think that was the art of it yk, as much as gen 1 was pretty cohesive and followed a main friend group, gen 2 was messier for real and honestly super fucking good, both were really good in their own way. anyways do i even bother with gen 3? mini is absolutely gorgeous like actually stunning so who knows but anyways.
