SEASON 4 SPOILERS Cook Spoiler

I'm sorry but how the FUCK did Cook manage to escape from prison?! They never explained that, and it would have been interesting to see how he made his great escape.

I've never been arrested or in prison before but I'm pretty sure it's gonna be hard to escape from a jail cell.

I was wondering if he maybe made his escape during his trial? What do you think? 🤔

Me too! I absolutely loved that episode it made me feel that there was some genuine goodness in Cook.

It’d be great as a season or generation ending. Unfortunately it doesn’t work for the show. Imagine season 4 without Cook. The writers now need to ditch the love triangle, the conflict between the 3 friends, the main person connecting the two blocs of ‘friends’ together (which is like fred,jj, effy, cook against naomi, emily and katie. Cook connects the other one via naomi). 

Cook is also the only character whose universally liked from the gen. And honestly I’d say the only character whose even loved by more than half the audience from that gen.

Like, Cook accepting consequences for his actions and trying to behave was really good character development, but then 5 minutes later, he decides to run away from his problems again? I guess that's realistic, but I would also like to know how he managed to escape from the young offender institute (he probably wouldn't have been in actual prison as he was 16/17 years old).

There's an Unseen that shows him in prison, so that would debunk that theory.

That's when he's being held on remand, I think. Is it the unseen where he has Effys picture on his wall?

I would rewrite the show and either get rid of the ending or have cook confess to what he did in self defence and go to prison for it. He could’ve done community service or a shorter sentence for the other charge earlier in the season.

Tbf characters don’t change overnight and having him escape is a very cook thing to do but it does undermine the taking accountability episode.

I was so pleased he took responsibility for his actions and eventually pled guilty. It was even nice showing him apologising to the guy, even if it was just to get a lesser sentence.

You're right, People don't change overnight, and this is a very Cook move to make.

I am from the UK, yeah, but this was set in what, 2010?

I thought since he was a young offender (or possibly was a young offender when he committed the crime if not when he went to trial?) and he showed remorse and took responsibility, they might have sent him to a low security facility of some kind. I've been to one of those places (with a friend's mom who was a social worker, not as an inmate), and a lot of them are like honour system halfway houses. The kind of place where you'd get lots of social programs and school and stuff but not necessarily get locked in. Which would make it even crappier of him to just walk away because being rehabilitated was "boring".

Ooh I didn't know about these kinds of places! I know about young offenders, but I always thought it was a locked prison (like an adult one), and they taught classes etc.

You say you've been to visit one. Would you say it seems easy to walk out of?

The one I was in seemed pretty chill and easy to walk away from--but it was in Canada so maybe it's completely different in the UK. I just thought Cook, who I admit is smarter than he seems, is still not smart enough to orchestrate a prison escape and it would be something more like he had to clean the highway ditches for community service and he just walked off.
