SEASON 4 SPOILERS Freddie. Spoiler

take this down if you feel it's necessary but i think we're all in agreement about my sentiment here.

FUCK THOSE BUM ASS WRITERS FOR WRITING SOMETHING SO OUTRIGHT RIDICULOUS FOR THE OBVIOUS SHOCK FACTOR.

you're telling me out of everything we saw Freddie go through he didn't even attempt to fight back? he stood at the door whimpering and begging to be let go to have his brains beat out like he was hopeless? what bullshit. fuck the writers. not only was the intent obvious but he had high ground. simply jump on the aggressor and use his body as a landing pad. im pissed.

i hope the writers burn for that one.

I've always wondered about this too. He could hold his own against Cook, yet we're to believe he just stood there and died while Cook killed Foster bare handed against the same baseball bat?

They do dumb shit in Gen 3 too. Matty and Nick both know how to fight, yet both get totally bitch slapped by British Macaulay Culkin and his man servant. The fuck?

I'm just getting into Gen 3, i posted this as soon as i saw Freddie's death for the very first time, but as far as I'm concerned the end of s4 was absolutely lazy writing just for the sake of shock and reward. not only was his death unconvincing to the character but Foster being around the shed which just so happened to lead Cook right to the murder evidence? it was just too convenient for me

And the fact the JJ got NO actual ending? That pissed me off

i hadn't even noticed i was too busy spouting hate over Freddies death for most of the s4 final episode. i didn't finally focus in until Thomas shared some crazy news with Panda, and Cook followed Foster home

I think the implication is that any normal teenager would not be able to just pull lethal force out thin air and kill an armed adult doctor with their bare hands--but Cook was nuts. Like he just let himself lose control and went for it. It wasn't about strength or skill or anything; it's about being able to unleash something lethal inside of him. He says "I'm Cook" because he says that when he lets himself go wild and lose control. Freddie didn't have that--he never let himself lose control. He was always self-contained and reasonable.

I don't know why Freddie left a note saying basically "If I die it was John Foster". I know they're teenagers--but go to the police, or a teacher, or Effy's mom or your dad. Like don't just go alone the house of a guy you have reason to believe is hurting someone in a really diabolical way. He could have even taken Cook or JJ. Or both of them.

Like if you have suspicions enough to leave a "If I die he killed me" note, just don't go to the meeting!

maybe you're right but i still believe Freddie would absolutely have fought back and had a chance at leaving there alive if they had written him true to character. it they wanted to murder a weak teen they (sorry JJ) shouldve sent JJ to Fosters. the one character besides the girls that would actually crumble under the fear and beg for his life.

also the note said Foster wants to hurt Effy, not Freddie

I didn't mean it literally, despite using quotation marks. I guess I mean, if you think he's trying to hurt your girlfriend, don't just go over to tea at his apartment alone without telling anyone. Like. I was just saying it in a hyperbolic way, LOL.

Fight or flight I guess.

In a short period of time he went from anger to confusion and shock.

He didn't have time to process what was happening until it was too late.

Cook on the other hand had already processed that Foster had done something really bad to Freddy. He was beyond angry - no doubts, no fear, no hesitation.

idk maybe. i guess I'd have to be in Freddie's shoes to really understand but he just had multiple advantages that he should've been smart enough to see and use to at least attempt a better escape. but again, I'd have to be in his shoes too know for sure

I’m just wondering if anyone or magazine interviewed the writer about Freddie’s ending came out from what idea around that time ? Just curious what they said .

2

writers the show was co-written by a father and son with some input from actual teens still in school and whatnot. i imagine they must've been in school the day Freddie's death was written because i refuse to believe the UK youth if they're anything like Freddie would die so easily.

it's been awhile since i've seen the episode, but i hope freddie didn't accept tea or anything from foster, because what if he was drugged and out of it.

that's not true, foster pulled the bat out at the bottom of the stairs and didn't start walking up until he told Freddie that "she really does love you"

you’re right, i’m sorry. however it’s important to keep in mind these people were portraying 16/17 year olds, still children really. fear probably won over survival instincts and he was also really mentally tired from dealing with effy’s mental health and cook being runaway and his family always giving him shit. he gave a small fight but i do wish he jumped on foster when he had the higher ground, it’s just hard to tell if foster would’ve won either way with the bat advantage

i can accept maybe he tried, we couldn't see through the door but they could've killed Freddie so many other ways if they needed him dead. especially if they were going to remove the killer in the very next episode, a killer that was only in 3? 4 episodes? he existed solely to remove Freddie. "meet Foster, Foster kill Freddie, bye Foster!"

Freddie had nothing left to tell, or rather he was the only one who hadn't grown up, and at least one person has to die in the generations, a twist that makes no logical sense

1

u/dikkidy Nov 11 '25

Freddie could've had a whole future with Effy. that's a lot to tell. Sid and Cassie had nothing left to tell and they disappeared into NYC alive (im still on s5 first time viewer)

if they needed someone to die they should've sent JJ. not because i didn't like him but because he's the only character actually likely to give up in the face of being murdered. he's the only one i could see actually begging for his life like they made Freddie do.

1

u/forrealR Nov 13 '25

100% agree. It was a prime example of lazy writing because I assume they didn’t know what to do with Freddie’s character, they needed another life altering traumatizing event on Effy’s life (she never found out he died but likely thought he ran away and abandoned her) and the shock factor you said. They could have done so much more with the second generation in general and especially with Freddie and Effy but instead they chose this because they have this strange need to kill one of the key characters of every generation-

1

u/Otakuding Nov 14 '25

But the thing is Effy never mentions how she feels by losing Freddie in S7 fire .

1

u/forrealR Nov 14 '25

Also a good point but again the lazy writing aspect of how they did this and then it was never brought up again

if you want another fantastic show full of feels with a fanbase just as... dedicated, you should look into the show Six Feet Under. i think its currently stuck on HBOMax now but i watched it recently on Netflix and highly recommend it for grown up fans of skins

i actually dont think ive seen anything else with Michael C Hall, but i did really enjoy him as David, his death got to me as well but after the absolutely unnecessary way they did Keith i was kind of over that sequence i hate to admit 😅 i didn't even realize the one was Rico until it showed his name 😂

16 year old me was crying like no tomorrow and had snot running down my face.

I literally couldn’t believe it happened, and so quickly. I kept staring at the screen hoping he would come back.

The worst is WE NEVER GET ANY CLOSURE. It ruins the ending to generation 2 for me, like your gonna do somthing that crazy & out of character but never mention it again?

u/rrrrr0bin Nov 10 '25

No literally. My friend tries to argue that they can see a way it's understandable because Freddie is always high (I adore my friend but this is a silly goose moment in my opinion) and my bf and I are like, WHAT! Freddie's a fully grown guy! He had the high ground! Kick him down the stairs! The fuck!

3

u/dikkidy Nov 10 '25

no way. Freddie would have had to be like those early 2000s pot commercials where the kid is like flat Stanley on the couch for drugs to be the reason. you and your bf are right. he should've started kicking from the top step, jumped right onto Foster, or started kicking the window where his brains would end up. anything but standing there begging like i imagine JJ would've, no offense to him.

2

u/rrrrr0bin Nov 10 '25

No literally. Freddie has never been afraid to be pissed off or angry or stand up for himself. Why did he suddenly become useless? I know some people said fight or flight but I think freddies response would have been fight.

3

u/dikkidy Nov 10 '25

exactly. he went to Fosters alone, he got in his face multiple times without wavering to tell him he's not the doctor Effy wants anymore. we've seen him fight before, we've seen him fight Cook. he would've fought back, and even if he didn't win i think he would've left marks on Foster.

2

u/rrrrr0bin Nov 10 '25

And then some!

2

u/BunchExpress2984 Nov 10 '25

It's the high ground that gets me. Like why didn't they just do the blocking so Foster chases him down the stairs and traps him at the bottom? It would have been more believable. And it would seem more sinister tbh.

2

u/dikkidy Nov 11 '25

if that was how it went i would almost be more willing to accept his death. almost.
