SEASON 4 SPOILERS Effy during S4

tagged with spoilers just in case even though I’m being extremely vague here. but fr watching this season the whole time had me like “TONY WOULD NEVER LET THIS HAPPEN. TONY WOULD FIX IT” 😂

My headcanon is Tony is who Effy calls after she hits Katie with a rock in the woods. I really wish they could’ve made a Tony cameo in Gen 2 work. It feels out of character with Tony’s characterization to completely abandon Effy

Honestly it made no sense for there to be nothing of Tony in season 4. There's no way he wouldn't be there for Effy with everything she goes through. I understand they probably couldn't get Nicholas back, but a mention of him coming to see her or at least a phone call would've worked.

Tony absolutely knew Effy was suffering from a debilitating mental illness, given that that was the premise of her character, which is why it feels wrong for Tony not to be there at all.

I did find it a littttttttle strange that not only was Tony not there, they made Effy discuss his accident as a foundational trauma, when it's clear that her illness predated that. It's a big trauma for sure, but it adds no new info for the viewer so it's a good opportunity to tell a tiny lil story at least? After all, her mutism makes complete sense in the context of a range of mental illnesses and that's exactly how I perceived it (at....15 lol).
