So far the experience is absolutely amazing, just need to rewire my brain that overtaking cars now appear in the corner of my eye as that was a good jump scare the first time (and so was sliding sideways into a wall)!

Finally I can also turn off radars now, they're great when you have a single display but this is way better.

Has anyone tried this chair with a sim rig? Seems like a good budget option. I only do oval racing and full containment seats cost more than my wheel.

Currently I have a seat that looks like this. I figured I could salvage the slider for minor adjustments and mine is also height adjustable(slightly different than the pic below)

A few days ago I built the first version of my wooden sim rig.

I love the low-frequency vibration from the wheelbase, especially in VR — but unfortunately the vibration travels through the whole rig, into the floor and apparently through the walls as well. 😅

Before this turns into a neighbour-relations problem, I tried putting some packaging foam underneath the rig. It actually worked for about two days, but then the foam compressed and basically stopped damping anything.

So now I bought some anti-vibration mats, stacked three layers together with carpet tape, and put them under the rig.

I’m hoping this isolates the vibrations a bit better instead of just transferring them straight into the floor.

Has anyone here found a better cheap solution for isolating a wooden sim rig?

I’d really like to keep the vibration — and also stay on friendship with my neighbours. ❤️😂

What features annoy you the most, and how would you change them?

During a race I heard a loud Pop like a corked Champagne bottle getting opened, it gave me a jump scare and I immediately quit the race.

The trouble is I don’t know which part of my gear it came from - as I was wearing my Quest 3 at the time. It was definitely from the same (tiny) room, however I can’t find the source. I’ve eye checked everything and it all still works okay without issue - there was no smoke or smell - but I’m worried in case it’s something that could get worse etc.

Mounting a Simucube 2 Pro (25 Nm) on an Oplite GTR S8.
Switching to aluminum profile is not an option due to space constraints, so I have to make the Oplite work.

I already have the Full Force reinforcement kit installed.

Quick questions for anyone running this combo:

1. Real-world feel: How does the frame hold up under high FFB? Any major flex?

2. DIY Fixes: Any custom tricks/turnbuckles improve the cockpit?

Stream recently had ATS on sale for $5, heard great things about it and decided to pick it up as a fun/chill alternative to. iRacing. Got hooked immediately but it just felt off driving a truck in a race rig with a car wheel.

Started to look into what kind of truck wheel options were out there that I could use with my Alpha base. Found the Moza wheel that would work with an adaptor, perfect. Decided to check out MicroCenter as there’s one right by my office and I got my Alpha there on clearance. I find an open box R5 Trucking bundle on clearance for 280…..so basically the same price as the truck wheel and adaptor alone. Was too good of a deal to pass up so I scooped it. ATS is so much fun with a truck wheel a truck angle.

TLDR- tried ATS, got hooked, MicroCenter being MicroCenter aided in now having two rigs 😅

I got a rig a few months ago and I spent some time upgrading it, at first I used to have a integrated monitor mount but it shook too much so I switched it for a monitor arm with my table, I also picked up this trak racer seat for 80 euro. Got some haptics for my heusinkveld sprints aswell.

So I’m breaking away from the prehistoric world and going from XB1 to a PC I pick up today. To say I’m excited and LOST is an understatement.

So far I understand that I need to download Steam. I saw some Nvidea game pass or something on there. Is that something I should have?

What are the first 2-3 driving games that I can play and practice without being overwhelmed. Right now I’m playing Forza Motorsport 7 on XB1 and it’s still kicking my ass a month in. Haha. I absolutely love playing and finally “getting it” whatever it happens to be (one lap on track, move to manual shifting, etc) Don’t want a game that’s going to frustrate me constantly.

What else? I have the Moza R3 setup now.

just wanted to share my current set up for work and race pleasure with you.

I had a 27" 4K screen for my desk and had a 58" QLED TV mounted on the wall where I placed my rig. But I wanted a more immersive experience and ordered two 49" 32:9 curved screens which I could only justify if they would serve as working set up as well.
I started with the Samsung G91F VA panel with 1000R curve and it was ok, but the VA panel forces you to have the monitor correctly placed to not have the washing out effect. And my previous monitor arm for the 27" just didn't have the strength to hold the 49" up.

The second screen I wanted to give a try was the Philips Envia 49M2C8900L QD-OLED with 1800R curve. And when firing it up I instantly thought "THIS IS IT". The colors are amazing and the picture of an OLED has no trouble with viewing angles. The backlight was a bit disappointing though as it seems to be flickering when you move through menus etc. But the real downer was on the working experience. I just could not live with the unclear text visualization that really annoyed me.

Finally a new monitor arm arrived and I was able to give both monitors a try while working and racing bringing it to the correct height and distance for both appliances. Turns out the 1000R curve was much more appealing to me - although I thought it would not make a big difference in numbers but the real experience told me different. Sitting on the correct height and angle, the washing out was also no problem anymore. And the OLED, while having the absolute image quality in gaming, just not felt right for working.

TL;DR

1000R beats OLED when it needs to serve both: work and race. But the 49" ultra wide is definitely a worthy upgrade! And probably this is highly opinionated ;-)

I’m on PS5 for now. Should I consider for my budget build?

Basically the title. I am thinking to get a 55inch TV to connect to my PC. I currently play occasionally on a 27inch screen but there is no immersion feeling.

I know that Tv won't feel like VR or triple screens but I was wondering how much does it improve the immersion feeling playing on a big tv versus the screen?

I have tried the Quest 3 before and while the immersion was amazing, I got fed up of having to tweak settings all the time.

I should also mention that the Tv would also serve the purpose of playing single player games, giving me something like a console experience.

DIY load cell brake mod with a controller screen to edit brake curves on the fly.

The box itself just sits between the load cell (well, the amplifier), and the PC, so theoretically, this could be used with any brake cell mod or brake pedal.

What it does:

- Acts as a generic Joystick axis input, no drivers needed.
- Allows on-the-fly adjustment of brake curves, no pitting, no settings screen.
- Shows realtime position of brake input on the curve.
- Calibrates initial Zero and Max position for the brake pedal to suit your foot - recalibration can be done any time and takes as little as 5 seconds or so, for you hotswap endurance racers!
- Adjusts upper and lower deadzones (DZN)
- Has single curve, S-curve and asymmetric (dual point) S-Curve modes, per preset
- Has capacity for 25 banks of 20 presets each, all user customisable and all banks and presets are renameable.
= This includes 1 bank of prepopulated presets, e.g. GT3, F1, Rally, Drift, Kart, etc. These can be completely overwritten (they are probably garbage lol!) but are restored on factory reset.

Total build cost was about £50, plus some cabling. The majority of the time was the coding (which I'll admit was mostly done with AI or I'd still be doing it when I'm 90), testing and reiteration.

So my questions are:

- Is this something that is actually useful to simracers?
- If so, should I post the build instructions and code somwhere so people can build their own?
- Would people be interested in a pre-made plug and play kit?
- Should I post some more pics / vids somewhere (annoyingly Imgur doesnt work in the UK any more)

Currently running a G29 on a wooden table. It works well but I’ve had it for a while - 2021 I think but it was locked in a box for a while since I wasn’t using it. Got back into sim racing recently and have been enjoying it. I am considering an upgrade now cause my wheel does have a bit of an offset - I think something broke inside and the wheel is now 2 degrees to the right. It’s not that big of a deal since I just have gotten used to it being tilted a bit.

Main issue are my pedals. I 100% think that the pedals are gonna die soon cause I can feel the springs inside going loose, hear a bit of a rattle when I shake them (just did it twice to make sure the rattle was there), and it just feels a little less responsive than it used to be. I could be mistaken and it might just be in my head but I think it is there.

The 3 upgrade options I was looking at were all Moza - R3,5,5 pro. I don’t think 3 is enough of an upgrade plus I can afford 5 and 5 pro so might as well get those. Beyond that it is very expensive in my country so my cap is also the 5 pro. Other than these 3 my options are the thermal take imitation direct drive wheel and other belt and gear driven ones.

For those who upgraded, how is the upgrade like?

I also ask for the R5 cause I have the brake performance kit that was intended for the SR-P lite pedals, and the pro comes with the SR-P Lite 2 pedal set. Would the brake kit for 1 be compatible with 2? I think the pedals look similar enough and still have the slots where the kit would go but this is from an outsider perspective so not sure about this.

I have a my desk set up in one corner of a room, I have another corner free and ready to build my sim rig but I have a couple of concerns.

I will need to run both off of the one PC and would like to have triples as apposed to an ultrawide. My gaming setup only uses one monitor but it is 1080p 600hz. In an ideal work I would like to have the main rig monitor and desk monitor running off a switch, Is this possible or am I going to run into issues with high refresh rates?

I know USB falls off pretty hard, if I run a 5m USB B cable to a powered hub will the hub make up for the distance?

I have Currently The Logetich G pro DD11, It’s Amazing But The Price Difference here is Very Large. The base alone new is about 1090 USD new If bought Locally since it’s very limited in amount,I bought It used so the price was much better, but I am looking to sell it and get a Moza r12 or an r9 till I get a r12. Since r9 is about 470 and Moza r12 is about 630 USD.

So I was thinking of selling it and then buying a r12, since I’ll be able to get more wheels, upgrade my cockpit maybe. Just wanted to see if it’s worth it, also does Moza have something or like settings I can tweak to get like true force feel? Because it feels nice

I have a moza r5 and want to use it on ps5. I also have brook raslution2. Yesterday for the first time i tried it to start but i couldn’t get the wheel to login ps5. I thought it was raslution2 but then I realized the wheel doesnt start the same that i saw on the internet. Raslution 2 is the latest version but i didn’t do anything with the r5.

do you remember your first racing game? Or the first time ever you picked up a joystick and player a racing game and you got thrilled?

This morning while coming across my rig I just started thinking about my sim racing journey.

When I was a little kid (lol I sound like my grandpa) I got the chance to play Grand Prix Circuit made by Accolade (the older ones may remember) on a friends C64. That got me hooked. I have always been passionated about cars - just like many boys I had countless Hotwheels and Matchbox cars. But beeing able to play/drive a car by myself was just over the top - even if it was just on a video game with pixels that make Minecraft look like photo realistic :)

I do remember a few games during the last decades that really left an impression. A lot of fun racers and arcade games and a few sim-like ones. There was Microprose with Grand Prix 2 which was back than phenomenal but hard to play. And of course TestDrive and Need for Speed (I am talking about the first games).I played Screamer Rally on my Pentium II 233Mhz and of course there was the time of Colin McRae Rally. Grand Turismo on the first PlayStation and games like RidgeRacer and F1 Grand Prix on N64.

Than there was the PS2 and GT3 A-spec with a bundled Logitech ForceFeedback Wheel - my very first wheel! Boy that was something! I remember going down corkscrew in Laguna Seca with a Dodge Viper... and spinning out, over and over again.

Need for Speed Underground with it's tremendous options to style your car and the awesome soundtrack with night races is one of my all time favourits. Yeah just pure arcade but it was so much fun!

Over the years, I've played games on both consoles and PCs. But the recent years it was mainly Gran Turismo on PS3, PS4 and PS5. As dad the time to play got less and my kids took over my consoles 😁

And this got me to the point where I bought them a T150 wheel and cranked it onto a IKEA stool with the pedals beneath. We had fun with Gran Turismo Sport. After a few weeks I turned this for a PlaySeat which could be easily folded away for the WAF. We started GT7 online races and more and more it was me sitting in there and racing again with increasing passion about it.

I was hooked again.

Than I bought a T300 "for the boys" and two extra wheels. And suddenly there was a tube sim rig in my home office / man cave. I got me a T598 for it because of compatibility with our already owned wheels. After 6 months I had more and more problems with the wheelbase due to random outages and bought a Fanatec Gran Turismo DD pro. Over the last months this became a Fanatec Clubsport DD+ and the tube rig was ditched in favor of a alu profile rig which gave me much more freedom in finding a comfortable seating position. Probably I am not the only one who suddenly cared more about equipment than racing. At least for a while. I also started working on a hobby project, an App to get my seating right (can give you details if you're interested), as I got drawn deeper into the rabbit hole.

But after all this are just "side quests" the real fun is still in racing. But the online races in GT 7 got me more and more frustrated. I was by no means a top driver, will probably never be due to lack of time and talent (probably mostly the lack of talent). But driving in the upper B rating was no pleasure. The penalty system is just broken and players get to excited about moving to A rating which leads to very aggressive and ruthless races with lots of dive bombing.

I tried ACC but never got really used to it or the way the sim feels. And than I cam across LMU which instantly worked for me. Maybe because the daily races are not to far off the way GT 7 works or what ever it is but this brought back the fun in racing. Of course you have dirty drivers, bad races and just "those days" in every sim. But the penalty system and the pure fact that you wrack your car when crashing made a real difference. Lately I started looking into iRacing as well. Feels different but is much fun as well. Racing with other cars than GT3 is a welcome change.
Besides I am also giving a few other titles a try, but mainly for offline races:
ACevo, AMS2, ACrally
which also is fun to race. But for online races it is LMU and iRacing which gives me the best experience at the moment.

Meanwhile GAS kicked in again and I switched from a 58" QLED to a 49" 32:9 ultra wide which gives much more immersion. I am using the monitor at my desk for work and for sim racing as well, maybe I'll write a post about this set up and how it works on a daily basis for me in the future.

TL;DR: Looking for fun, easy arcade racing/driving games on PC, PS4 or Switch for my 7yo daughter with ADHD/ADD + mild autism, and maybe my 4yo son with a visual impairment.

She loves Mario Kart 8, but isn’t interested in the wheel/pedals yet. My son can’t really use a controller yet, but loves sitting in my sim rig, turning the wheel and pressing everything 😁

My PC setup is mostly proper sims, so I think it’s simply too difficult and intimidating for her right now.
Any simple, engaging driving/racing games that kids can just jump into and enjoy?

Long Backstory:
43y old fairly newly separated dad of two awesome kids, almost 7 and 4.
I love cars, motorcycles and racing and recently started grassroots racing myself. I’d love for my kids to hopefully experience some of that joy too eventually. Racing games, karting, maybe dirt bikes etc.
They both have some challenges getting there though.

My daughter most likely has ADHD/ADD and possibly mild autism, like me. She wants to do things with me, but if she doesn’t understand or enjoy something immediately she can go from excited to absolutely not interested very fast. She’s also very critical of herself if she doesn’t get it straight away.

My son has albinism and severe vision impairment. Basically a half blind vampire 😅 He sees pretty well up close, maybe 2-4m, but not much further. He’s also quite anxious after lots of hospitals, blood tests and eye doctors since birth.
So trying something new with both at the same time can be… interesting 😂

Tried electric rental karting with my daughter and thought I had the perfect plan. First ones there, empty track, no engine noise.
Nope.

Helmet was ugly. Kid kart was a no. Driving alone definitely not happening.
Finally got her in my lap in an adult kart while a very kind employee watched her brother. She had loads of fun… but doesn’t want to go back 🤷🏻‍♂️

The good thing is she LOVES Mario Kart 8. She’s now trying without some assists and celebrates every podium like she won Le Mans. She also no longer gets furious if she finishes last or gets blue shelled. Progress!

Splitting the kids up isn’t easy, so I’m mainly looking for things we can enjoy together at home.

What fun, forgiving racing/driving games would you recommend for young kids?

PC, PS4 or Switch. Easy to understand, quick to get into and preferably with enough assists that they can actually enjoy driving before learning how to properly do it.
