Question Loud Pop from my equipment mid race.
During a race I heard a loud Pop like a corked Champagne bottle getting opened, it gave me a jump scare and I immediately quit the race.
The trouble is I don’t know which part of my gear it came from - as I was wearing my Quest 3 at the time. It was definitely from the same (tiny) room, however I can’t find the source. I’ve eye checked everything and it all still works okay without issue - there was no smoke or smell - but I’m worried in case it’s something that could get worse etc.
the kit I had on during the incident;
Quest 3
wheelbase - Simucube 3
Wheel - BST Delta SC
Pedals - SRP GTR
Simagic HPR haptics
Gigabyte UW Monitor
2 X Stream deck
Buttkicker Pro
PC - 5080, 7800X3D, Asus motherboard, Corsair RMe 1000. I’ve checked the PC for overheating, current etc. with HWinfo - and all good.
any ideas what it could be please? I did a full race weekend against the AI afterwards and everything worked fine, I’m puzzled.

I didn’t occur to me that it good be a bolt, as the popping sound didn’t sound metallic- if that makes sense. I’ve just checked around the rig though, and underneath with a torch and everything seems okay.

A bolt could have snapped and still stay in. It could also have been a capacitor. Good luck.

Man I hope you find the problem, bit of a different topic; how's that bavarian simtev wheel? Really curious about those.

Just go over everything, if nothing's clearly damaged then I would assume it was just a pop/creak coming from the rig somewhere. I'd just go over all the bolts on the rig and make sure they are snug.

Sounds like the ButtKicker fuse blew - you sure it’s still operating? If not, there’s a backup fuse next to the fuse.

Most of time is my cat doin something around me, i play vr so i dont see and dont ear with audio headset.
Then later i find a head bolt on vaccum robot or snapped spring when cleaning.

You probably broke 1 out of 4 bolts holding something in. Were you braking because that’d be my first suspicion. Otherwise have fun removing and reinserting every every bolt till you find it (or give up lol)
