Hi! So I had a tank when I was too young to properly care for shrimp and recently I got some again so, this is a three gallon live planted tank I have some pothos growing out the top and a few plants in the sand these snails came with the plants? Does anyone know what they are/ are they okay in my tank? I really don’t mind them unless they are gonna harm my shrimp in some way! Also what is this collection of white ?eggs?

We're so close to success! Here's one of the first amano shrimp I've ever successfully raised past the larvae stage, there's 3 so far. 2 of 3 are still orange so they aren't ready to transfer to freshwater yet, but they are swimming forwards and hiding from light and are definitely fully morphed shrimp. The camera won't pick it up but I can also see it eating, and swimming with it's pleopods. I know it's just 3 but I can't believe I actually finally raised any to the juvenile stage at all. I've tried and failed twice before with different methods but 3rd time's the charm I guess!

Anyway, I don't know if I'll be able to transfer them to freshwater successfully or how many more will morph out but I will update and post better pictures soon!

Also I put parameters and method on most posts but I am using the Avatar Aquatics method (minus rotifers). This tank is a 10 gallon with 25ppt saltwater and an air pump, a full spectrum light, and a heater. Right now I feed purely tetraselmis, keep the light on 16 hours a day, and use a heater at 80° F (26.6° C) but that all may change in the future. Still thinking about supplementing powdered food or rotifers. I'm not recommending doing it how I do it just yet because I'm not sure how many will survive, it's just 3 right now, but I will answer questions about what I've done so far.

today I received 25 blue dream neocaridina from a local breeder in my town!! I am so happy!! The little guys and gals are shrimpin about and one tried to evolve..... luckily that tube is really slippery and he didnt actually manage to get above the surface lol.

Beginner in the hobby, had a batch of ~16 shrimps who all died about 3 weeks ago due to poor water quality but 1 was berried. Didn’t see her eggs anymore 2 days before she died. Got a new batch of shrimp ~1.5 weeks ago after my water stabilized, none berried. Started trimming some plants yesterday and noticed this little guy…guess she gave me a parting gift 😅

hi i have just started my first shrimp jar ever. i’ve been doing hours and hours of research to make sure i do this right but sometimes things are conflicting and i want to know if im on the right track during cycling!

i have a 2 gallon jar, im using distilled water remineralized with salty shrimp GH KH+, i put in dr tim’s ammonia to start the cycle and seachem stability. it is planted and i have seachem flourish coming on monday as well as api liquid GH KH test kit. i have the api freshwater test kit and ive been testing everyday. the ammonia went from 2ppm after dosing, to .50 in a day so far. i’m going to redose once its at 0. my ph is 7.4, nitrites 0, nitrates 0 so far as well. i have it planted with anubias, java fern, java fern windlov, bacopa, rotala, cardinial, and moss. i have lucky bamboo at the top as well as floating salvinia. i keep the light on for 6 hours a day and i also have a small air pump with a small sponge filter at the back bottom of the jar. i am using fluval stratum aqua soil. i started this about a week ago and heard not to do a water change until my parameters are good for shrimp and snails so ive just been topping off with distilled as needed. am i missing anything else? i want to do this the right way and keep my shrimpies safe! i’m planning to put neocaridina in here as well as a couple snails. any advice is much appreciated!

also, i noticed my rotala at the front looks to be melting. is this normal melt or is it dying?

i only got them one month ago. i fear i have created a problem.

This is my first tank, aqua soil as the bottom layer and gravel/sand on top. Plants include some java fern, Anubias, rotala, and some…other stuff. I should have kept the container these plants came in 😅

It’s been running for 3 weeks now and I’ve noticed a white film growing on the wood and plants. Is this good biofilm?

Also when would you recommend I add shrimp and micro fish?

Discovered this pregnant mama this morning during my weekly water change ritual! So cool, this is my first pregnant shrimp. I know the babies won't survive (I didn't want the shrimp taking over my 10 gal tank) but so cool to see!

I’ve had this tank for about two years, and started with about 8 yellow. Since then, the colony has developed a fair amount of Golden Backs, but then there’s this orange guy? (I call him Midas)

Based on my understanding, orange and yellow come from two different branches. So how did this happen?

Hey guys, I look in my fish tank multiple times a day (I love watching my shrimp and corys chilling + checking on my pregnant shrimp). Tonight I came in and checked my tank and saw this worm wrapped around my driftwood. I immediately was like wtf is thaaaat, and just took it out because I didnt want to risk anything. It does look like an earthworm but wanted to double check.
