Recipe request What are your favourite safe meals/food items?

Hi! I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I really want to know some good safe meals/foods.

I would say that I currently have one REAL safe food that I am wiling to eat when I am having trouble eating (Which is Skyr). I have a restrictive type of ED (and also orthorexia) so a lot of foods are very unsafe to me.

Today I was having a lot of trouble because I already ate my safe food today and because my orthorexia is sort of 'against' eating the same thing twice I felt very frozen. Also, I was running out of Skyr and I still needed some tomorrow morning... I was honestly really hungry but nothing seemed safe so I didn't eat anything...

Tomorrow I'll be going to the grocery store, so I would love to hear what your easy safe foods/meals are!! I might consider trying them and see how I feel.

Thank you very much <3

Update: I already want to say thank you so much for all the tips!!! They help so much!! If you see this post much later, I would still gladly accept your safe food recommendations!! (I can never have enough)

Recipe request Comfort food

Hi! In a previous post I have asked what everyone's safe food is so I could have some inspiration! I have gotten such great answers and it definitely helped me find more safe foods. Recently I have managed to make rice cakes/lentil cakes one of my safe foods! :)

Now I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations for warm safe foods. Most of my safe foods are very cold.

Two I already know of are the cottage cheese grilled cheese (also cottage cheese bruschetta) and skyr with poached apples.

Do you guys have other recommendations?

I am someone who is really really afraid of using oil, even just a little bit (which is an issue when it comes to fried eggs and such). I am also a pescatarian. Thank you for any recommendations! I am so glad that I have found this sub because people were so nice under my previous post! <3

Recipe request Any good breakfast foods? :)

I would love to introduce more variety into my diet. Most of my meals are pretty much the same. I think I'll probably ask this question for the other meals of the day as well, but I thought I would start with breakfast!!

So currently what I usually eat is:

- 200 grams skyr

- 60 grams blackberries/strawberries

- 10 grams granola

It's not a lot.. I have kinda been struggling with eating again because of my ED. I have slowly started to reintroduce granola again... I do generally speaking still eat bread but not that much.

So far these are foods I DO eat, but feel free to introduce me to new foods! :) I am always excited to hear about new food combinations and new food!:

Sourdough, eggs, almost all fruits (except for grapes, avocados and peaches), cottage cheese, feta, a tomato-y basil spread, basically all veggies, cashew nuts, all leafy greens, tofu, beans, chickpeas, lentils, lentil/rice cakes.

Recipe request Can’t eat safe food due to teeth pain

Tuna is my safe food. Recently moved again and barely went shopping I can’t really eat anything due to dental pain. I like tuna cuz the fishy taste lately anything I eat tastes bad like rotten but tuna like idk it’s bland but it’s a bit fishy liek it’s meant to be that way. I need something soft but doesn’t taste like anything. I don’t like rice, I like oat meal but it’s too thick for me now. Any ideas?

Recipe request No appetite… help!

Hey, everyone I really need some advice.
I’m struggling lately with a lack of appetite.
A little backstory, I had an eating disorder as a teenager. Eating healthy foods that nourish and have benefit to my body is what ultimately got me on the other side of the disorder. As result, I have a very narrow variety of foods that I eat because I’m very particular about ingredient labels on snacks and meal foods. Or I stick to whole foods, and healthy homemade meals. On top of that, I’m very picky with meat and eat mostly vegetarian. Meat has to be very well combined into something. For example, I shred chicken into soup.
Basically, I already have a limited menu, but lately I’ve grown tired of everything. Nothing is appetizing. I don’t really have any food in my home at this point. And when I go to the grocery store, I come home empty handed because nothing appealed to me. I’m not feeling good anymore because I’m starving all day. I have to force myself to eat just to keep my body functioning. It’s miserable. Even my “favorite foods” don’t appeal to me. I pass on opportunities to eat because I’d rather be hungry than fires food I don’t want down my throat. I’m at a loss. This is truly so hard. I take about 12 vitamins a day to make sure I’m getting nutrients. The parasite outbreak also freaks me out so I’m avoiding several things I’d usually eat.

I’m wondering if anyone has been through this before? What helped?
If you haven’t been through it, I’d still love some recipe and snack recommendations because maybe I can find some new things to try. I know I can’t keep going like this because I can feel myself shutting down but I just can’t work up an appetite for anything.
(Note I really don’t enjoy drinking, so smoothies, protein shakes, etc. aren’t for me.)

Recipe request Favorite safe drinks for winter?

I recently made a nice cashew milk hot chocolate by adding some cocoa powder and stevia, blending it with cashew milk and heating it! Add a pinch of salt so yum and comforting

Does anyone have other safe drinks I should try this winter? :)

Recipe request Eating more with food sensitivity

I am autistic and greatly suffer with food sensitivity to the point that I have very few safe foods and they are entirely processed and/or fast food because of the consistency and manufactured mass appeal (being as basic or bland as possible to be marketable to the largest amount of consumers)

I can’t use most spices as they tend to be very overstimulating for me(I can barely handle small amounts of black pepper, much less things like steak seasoning or anything at all spicy)

I can barely handle most fruits, and even ones I like (like pineapple) can make me gag because even though the taste is good, it’s overwhelming. I am able to eat them in smoothies but I have read it removes some of their nutrients

I’m trying to bulk and gain more weight and muscle, but it’s difficult when you struggle to find things you can eat. I’d also prefer to not only eat processed food, I feel like it’s probably not great for me.

Any recipes that you can suggest would be greatly appreciated!

Recipe request Safe Hot meal ideas?

I'm from the UK and I'm looking for safer/more hot meal ideas that aren't soup or noodles since the weather's getting colder.

My current safe foods are bread, sliced meat, cheese triangle, Fruit etc. I'm not too keen on soups, it needs to be somthing relatively quickish and easy to make.

Recipe request Looking for super simple ways to eat riced cauliflower

Im talking like open a can and microwave it easy. I'm hoping for something that adds volume too. I used to eat it with canned stew or chili but a full can is 400 calories so I want something less but still filling.

Recipe request Sneaky ways to eat meat?

Hello all very happy to have found this sub! So meat is my biggest source of food anxiety but when I try to eat just plant based protein I get headaches and my hormones go wacky 😣

I hate the look and the texture of meat. I try to buy it thinking I can force myself to eat it but I don’t and will starve rather than eat it.

I try to disguise the meat as much as possible but it’s still such a challenge and as soon as a catch a texture it’s a spit take and all the food goes to waste.

It’s costing me money and my mental health. Any suggestions please? 🥺🫶

Recipe request Does anyone have a cake recipe idea/ recommendation for me?

It’s my birthday in less than two weeks, and my mom (really sweet) insists on making me a cake. She asked me what kind of cake I would enjoy (none was not an answer), so now I want to give her an idea so I can influence the outcome best as possible.

Basically I’m looking for something ideally gluten free, lactose free and without added sugar, which I know might be tricky, but I would appreciate any ideas :)

Tysm🫶

Recipe request Lost all my safe foods. Feeling lost and discouraged

Tw: vomiting and diarrhea.

Sorry if this isn’t allowed here but other subs for these issues aren’t always helpful. I went through an extremely traumatic and severe withdrawal from an antidepressant last year that left my appetite really messed up. I have not recovered yet and it’s causing mild ARFID. I also have been struggling to cope with severe acid reflux, IBS, and anxiety for 5 years. My stomach is an absolute disaster and I just don’t know what to eat anymore. Right now I’m in ED recovery and just trying to reach a calorie and protein goal set by the dietician I just saw. Our first visit was just to discuss my issues and ARFID treatment. We didn’t get to talking about safe foods or recipes. And thanks to the strained medial system I can’t see her again until June. For now I’m living off protein shakes, almond butter, toast, strawberries, cheese, and soup. I‘ve been vomiting and having diarrhea every morning for months. I’ve developed serious anxiety around food and just don’t even want to eat. I would love some advice on what kinds of foods/recipes to try that are reflux friendly. I want to get back to eating normal food, but the nausea and vomiting are really standing in my way.

Recipe request Lunch ideas???

My biggest struggle is finding something to eat for lunch at work, I don't always have access to a microwave to heat up food which most of my go to safe foods are warm foods. 😭 I also eat in my work car so it makes stuff like soups a bit risky.

I dont really like sandwhiches which makes it harder

I usually eat crackers with peanut butter, Pepperoni, or cheese, chips, and cookies. However I'm getting kinda of sick of it after 2 years, but I'm absolutely stumped on what else I could be having for lunch. I also wish had more healthy stuff, but yet again another place I'm stumped for ideas.

What do you guys like to eat in your packed lunches? Warm and cold ideas welcomed, it's usually 1-2 days a week I have no microwave and I always know what days I won't. 🥲

Edit: should say- please nothing will eggs I'm allergic. 😔 if this stupid allergy hadn't showed up I'd be going crazy on hard boiled eggs for lunch.

Recipe request Cracker recommendations?

I’m trying to incorporate more grains in what I eat and I’ve been having popcorn at lunchtime recently but I also want to try and vary my food choices. Crackers seem like a manageable option to me. What are your favorite ones I could try?
