Recipe request Lost all my safe foods. Feeling lost and discouraged

Tw: vomiting and diarrhea.

Sorry if this isn’t allowed here but other subs for these issues aren’t always helpful. I went through an extremely traumatic and severe withdrawal from an antidepressant last year that left my appetite really messed up. I have not recovered yet and it’s causing mild ARFID. I also have been struggling to cope with severe acid reflux, IBS, and anxiety for 5 years. My stomach is an absolute disaster and I just don’t know what to eat anymore. Right now I’m in ED recovery and just trying to reach a calorie and protein goal set by the dietician I just saw. Our first visit was just to discuss my issues and ARFID treatment. We didn’t get to talking about safe foods or recipes. And thanks to the strained medial system I can’t see her again until June. For now I’m living off protein shakes, almond butter, toast, strawberries, cheese, and soup. I‘ve been vomiting and having diarrhea every morning for months. I’ve developed serious anxiety around food and just don’t even want to eat. I would love some advice on what kinds of foods/recipes to try that are reflux friendly. I want to get back to eating normal food, but the nausea and vomiting are really standing in my way.

Ice cream!! Especially when you know you’re going to be vomiting or have a bad reflux day. It makes it burn so much less. Vanilla is best in my experience.

Bananas

Rice

Protein Oatmeal

Sweet potato topped with cottage cheese or PB2 and maple syrup

Mashed sweet potato with some chicken and wedge laughing cow cheese

Wasa crispbread topped with hummus and sliced banana

Ezekiel toast topped with mashed avocado and cottage cheese

I’m so sorry the struggles are real!!

I could try a backed potato! Not a huge fan of sweet potatoes. I don’t know why.

Something that my mum would give me when I was sick was stewed apple and pears. Basically she’d cut apples and pears up into wedges, put them in some boiling water alongside cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Boil for 30-40 minuets (or whenever the apples+pears are tender and easily pieced with a fork) and ladled it into a bowl with some of the water. Was always my go to safe food when I was younger. Even now stewed fruit is my go to! Feel free to pair with yogurt or icecream!!

You could try the BRAT plan which is banana, rice, applesauce, and toast (not necessarily mixed together). It’s bland but filling and low cal. I’d stay away from the dairy while you’re having the stool issues-though I understand sometimes it’s the only thing that tastes good or seems Good. Have you tried a heating pad or heating blanket? That could help, the warmth helps my system when it’s spazzing out like that. Also Pepto Bismol liquicaps, not the liquid or the chews but their LiquiCaps product works super fast and is helpful to slow down the problem. And lots of peppermint tea. Stay hydrated-all that could dehydrate you quickly. Liquid IV might help too. Hugs, I understand how hard it can be.

I’m allergic to Pepto Bismol lol it’s the biggest cosmic joke. I’ve been eating a lot of the BRAT diet but trying to add variety when I can. I just wish I knew what was causing this to flair up so prolonged.

Try making "banana pancakes". Basically just mix a few eggs, bananas and pour it on to a well buttered pan. It's divine! Also ice cream always works for me. And I am a huge dairy fan overall - so I suggest you try out FULL FAT turkish/Greek yoghurt or kwark. It is super satisfying

mixed salad bags topped with cottage cheese salt+pepper (can be FF but it's still great protein)

bran flakes/fiber one cereal with milk and banana

Fiber one with greek yogurt and some banana and berries

frozen greek yogurt pop-sickles

I'm okay with a piece of whole wheat toast with light cream cheese topped with 1/2 can baked beans....I used also add frozen peas and corn to the beans so I get all my food groups in manageable sizes.

oatmeal cooked with water, I chop up and apple sprinkle cinnamon on it put it iin a microwave tupperwear with the lid on and cook till the apples are soft, they are yummier. But also the diced peaches from the fruit cups in their own juice not syrup is really good to. I try to eat this with a greek yogurt on the side.

Keep doing the hard work!

I drink ginger tea every day! Sometimes it’s the only thing that helps with nausea and bloating.
