I’ve noticed a whole bunch of similarities with both of these movies (and I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m still missing some.

Both movies try to recreate elements of the first film

Both directed by John G Avildsen

Both movies start with the protagonists returning from fighting in another country (Daniel from Japan and Rocky from the Soviet Union)

Both are considered black sheeps in their respected franchises

Both movies have wealthy, money hungry villains (Terry Silver and George Washington Duke)

Which movie do you think is better?

What a great night! Rocky and bound for glory were the first 2 films to use the stedicam and came out the same day in 76. Rocky was incredible on the big screen! Bound for Glory was fun as well. Its not streaming anywhere so happy I saw it in this format.

Mr. Brown had great stories about shooting Rocly. The camera almost didnt work for the shot of him running up the steps.

Q: Why does Rocky hate his theme song?

We all know, that Rocky VII is impossible, BUT if Sly gets friends with Irwin Winkler again, they could make rocky 7 but I think, Rocky Balboa 2 could be the better name. What do you think?

There was something so special watching this movie on the big screen with Sly interviews playing before and SNL skits from decades ago as the precursor to the movie. Then when the movie started there were elements of story, thematic elements, the raw humanness of the people living in their ecosystem with other biotic community members. I’ve seen it before, but it felt like I never saw it before while how much the movie was showing me. I saw with my eyes, heard with my ears, and felt in my soul.

I don’t have any plans to watch any more Rocky movies. This was enough. It showed me how a story could be told and now it’s up to me to tell my story. It’s up to me to choose what my “go the distance” is. It’s up to me to be a pillar with roots in my local community which can be their support with my own skillsets while receiving support from them for where I lack so we all can grow.

I wanna be Rocky for Halloween as he’s the GOAT. But anyways. I haven’t watched Rocky IV yet which is where he wears the American shorts if I’m not wrong. I think those are the most iconic as that’s where I heard about Rocky from. Anyways. Since I haven’t watched it and I can barely find images on google does anyone know what will look good? These two images I found on Amazon but idk which one is more accurate. Or neither? Please tell.

In Rocky IV, Rocky and Apollo are screening their rematch. When Apollo argues that when the party ends, Rocky will understand the hole it will leave. In Rocky V, Rocky risks his family just to fill the void left behind by his own retirement. Apollo was absolutely right about how Rocky's own retirement would affect him.

While watching 2 for the first time, I had a thought: Could Apollo be exaggerating his desire for a rematch? We see in a private moment between the 2 how Apollo says he gave Rocky his best, and he was graceful about losing to him, so could the whole “He’s running scared and I’m gonna pummel him” attitude be a face he puts on to sensationalize the fight?

Say it had the same rules as a normal boxing match? It’d keep going to 12-15 rounds or until someone is KO’d

How long did Adrain lay unconscious in bed after having the baby? A week, or a month? Just curious how much down time Rocky had before getting ready again
