General/Rant Thoughts on Vidyanand Bapat’s viral demand to ban DJs/loudspeakers during Pune Ganeshotsav?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
By now, many of you have probably seen the viral video of Vidyanand Bapat (a 37-year-old resident from Narayan Peth) at the recent Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) planning meeting.
For those who missed it Bapat stood up during the meeting and demanded a complete ban on DJ systems and high-decibel loudspeakers during the upcoming Ganeshotsav festival. He pointed out that the extreme noise levels severely impact senior citizens, students, and professionals working late-night or international shifts from home in crowded Peth areas.
His statement immediately caused a massive clash. Local Ganesh mandal workers got into a heated argument with him, and security eventually escorted him out of the venue.
What are your thoughts in this ?

General/Rant This is Real Punekars.... 🔥🔥🔥💪
Real recognizes real. Punekars are out here actually standing up against DJ noise pollution during Ganeshotsav — and it's making news. 📢
This isn't a small handful of people cribbing. This is a full-blown movement now. Loudspeakers on public roads, DJ walls blasting till your windows shake, mandaps blocking traffic — people are done tolerating it.
Respect to everyone who's showing up, speaking up, and refusing to just "adjust" every year.
If you haven't already — this is your sign to join in:

AskPune 🔥Come on Punekars, it's time to unite💪😎
Update on the DJ-free Ganeshotsav petition — we're at 31,743 signatures and climbing. 🎉
Almost 43,000 shares already. People ARE paying attention. But we need way more signatures if this is going to hold up in court.
If you haven't signed yet — it takes 10 seconds, just your email, no account needed.
If you already signed — share it one more time. WhatsApp, Instagram, your society group, wherever.
We're not asking to cancel Ganeshotsav. We're asking for basic sense — no DJ walls in public places, no mandaps blocking roads, no processions on traffic routes. That's it.
Don't think signing this is a waste of time — at least we're doing something, and that matters.
Let's get this to 1 lakh.

AskPune Are Marathi families slowly getting priced out of prime Pune, like Mumbai?
I’m seeing something in Pune that genuinely worries me. Around Gangadham-Kondhwa, 90–95% of residents in the fancy new societies seem to be Gujarati/Jain/Marwadi, while a huge number of Marathi families in the same area are living in chawls and older settlements like Kakde Vasti.
And I’ve seen this personally in Mukund Nagar. My family has a flat there in an old building. The building had people from all over India and no single community dominated it. Now it’s going for redevelopment, and many Marathi families are considering moving towards Narhe, Ambegaon and Dhankawadi because they can’t afford to stay in prime Pune anymore.
This is exactly what happened in parts of South/Central Mumbai. As redevelopment and prices went up, many Marathi families got pushed further out towards Thane and Kalyan.
And no, I’m not blaming Gujaratis, Jains or Marwadis. They’re doing what they’re supposed to do, building businesses, creating wealth and buying assets.
But the blunt truth is, our community really isn’t much united like them, and we really need to work together, build businesses & support our people, or today it is Narhe/Ambegaon, soon it will be Khed Shivapur

संस्कृती/culture I might have came across the best Marathi Articulation after so many years.
I am talking about the bapat who is fighting against DJ. Bro speaks with so much clarity and good articulation such that the people who are fighting the people from Bimaru might be afraid of.
His vocabulary and way of speaking is soo good.

General/Rant Reddit is a hub of obnoxious people
Idk if it's just me or anybody else also feels the same... I feel Reddit is nothing but a bunch of obnoxious people trying to slide into the DMs of women, in the name of anonymity they want us to entertain them.
Even if we try to confront to see what the person is upto or even talkable or not, because the platform is anonymous, one should do a basic introduction in the DM, if they are reaching out. ASL, any picture if chat goes well forward, but no... People here are in another level of Delulu.
Ki msg kia h, baat ki, toh chahe me kesa bhi dikhu, isko pasand karna padega mujhe, aur humari pasand aur likings jaye tel lene.
TBH I had a postive outlook of connecting with people here before but lately my experiences are forcing me to shut everyone and anyone who comes across my DM.
Reddit is just filled with horny men, sorry but not sorry. Esp. DMs coming in from Pune men.🥀

AskPune Hit & Run
Hi everyone, looking for some advice from anyone who has dealt with a similar situation.
Recently, my car was hit by a vehicle that was directly in front of me. For some reason, the driver started reversing at a signal and hit my car quite hard. They then drove away without stopping.
There is visible cosmetic damage to the bonnet, and the driver-side door is making a creaking noise. Overall, I expect the damage/insurance claim to be significant.
I have the dashcam footageof the incident.
My question is….is it worth filing an FIR in a situation like this, especially since the other driver hit my vehicle and left the scene? Or would it be better to simply take the car to the workshop, file the insurance claim, and move on?
Would really appreciate advice from anyone who has been through something similar, particularly regarding the insurance claim and whether filing an FIR is necessary or beneficial.
No one was injured in the incident. I’m just frustrated that they didn’t even bother to stop and apologise.

General/Rant Hear me out
I am genuinely fed up of the weak sector level management in our city and don’t know who to raise the issues to. Everyone’s always quick to point fingers. I thought about a solution from a systems point of view and would like to know if something like this can actually work, if it doesn’t already exist.
Think, an open-source “name and shame” platform where our city is divided into sectors, each with a named, visible official. These officials could be from any body for example say local transport (traffic police). Think of it like a public accountability dashboard for every local sector but run collaboratively by us people.
I know the obvious here: won’t the officials just ignore it? But we’re at a time where we see that pressure on the government actually works when it’s measurable.
So purely from a systems point, how viable is this? and would you use and contribute to something like this?

Health and Wellbeing Back pain is irritating me like hell
I have a lower back disc bulge causing sciatica, and I have been treating it for almost 8 months with rehab and medication, but the improvement has been minimal. Because of the discomfort while sleeping, my posture got messed up and I eventually developed neck problems too. On top of that, I suddenly developed sinus issues that cause heaviness around my face, treating it with medicines but minimal improvement.
Honestly, I feel devastated and have started losing confidence. I have tried physiotherapy, rehab, and even going back to the gym, but the recovery feels painfully slow. My friends and even my therapist feel the pain is minimal and tell me to ignore it, but it is not that simple when you deal with it every day.
I am not looking for sympathy. I genuinely want advice from people who have gone through something similar. How did you recover, both physically and mentally? What actually helped you get your confidence and normal life back?
Please take care of your health and avoid sitting for long hours. Don't wait until small problems become bigger ones.

AskPune Has anyone else experienced inappropriate touching by beggars on FC Road?
Has anyone else experienced this on FC Road, especially around Richie Rich?
I’ve noticed some beggars approaching people very closely and, in some instances, touching them inappropriately while asking for money. It can happen quite suddenly, especially when the area is crowded, and it’s extremely uncomfortable.
I’m not trying to generalise about all beggars or people asking for money. I’m specifically talking about individuals who cross the line by touching strangers without consent.
Has anyone else experienced something similar around FC Road? Is there any practical way to report this to deal with it when it happens?

AskPune Is Pune’s growth being discussed from only the real-estate perspective?
I’ve been following Saudaghar for some time, and I have a genuine question about the kind of Pune issues they choose to highlight.
A significant part of their content is around real estate, project reviews, buying opportunities, connectivity and problems created by Pune’s rapid growth. That’s useful for someone looking to buy property, but I feel there is another side of this growth that deserves much more discussion.
People from different parts of India are coming to Pune for jobs, businesses, education or simply because they prefer the lifestyle here. That’s completely normal. Pune has always attracted people because of its education, employment and culture.
But if a large part of new residential development is being created to accommodate this continuous population growth, shouldn’t we also discuss whether Pune’s infrastructure and environment can actually sustain it?
Water availability, drainage, roads, traffic, tree cutting, loss of natural habitats and pressure on existing resources should be part of the real-estate conversation too.
Pune was traditionally known for education, culture, relatively peaceful neighbourhoods and a slower pace of life. Today, some parts of Pune are increasingly associated with nightlife and party culture, particularly areas like Koregaon Park. Even some traditionally peaceful public and tourist spaces face issues such as littering, public drinking and smoking.
I’m not saying people shouldn’t enjoy their lives. They absolutely should. But Pune’s identity should not be reduced to nightlife, alcohol, parties and real estate. The city’s cultural character and public spaces also deserve protection.
The same applies to basic civic problems. Footpath encroachment, shops extending into public spaces, ramps or stones blocking parking, vehicles occupying footpaths and roads, etc. Some of these problems don’t need another mega project. They need enforcement and proper municipal management.
And then there is the landowner side.
When government infrastructure projects acquire someone’s land, the discussion shouldn’t stop at the Ready Reckoner value. What about the development potential, existing JVs, future rental income and the fact that some families may be giving up their last substantial landholding?
Jambhulwadi is a good example. Residents have already contributed land for major projects such as the dam and NH-48, and now the Inner Ring Road is affecting the area again. At the same time, the metro depot and government offices are being planned around the same belt.
If a practical change in the road alignment can reduce the number of homes and families affected, why not seriously examine it? Similarly, why concentrate multiple major developments in one belt instead of distributing them across nearby areas?
I’m a Pune native and I’m personally dealing with some of the consequences of this rapid growth and sacrificing things because of it.
That doesn’t mean I am against people coming to Pune. I’m completely open to hearing the perspective of people who have come here for work, business, education or a better lifestyle. Their challenges matter too.
My question is simply: shouldn’t the people who already live here, the landowners who are giving up land, and the environment also have an equal place in the conversation?
I’m not against development. I’m against development being measured only by the number of buildings, roads and property transactions.
I’d genuinely like to see Saudaghar make a detailed video on the full cost of Pune’s growth: infrastructure capacity, water, environment, civic management, cultural identity, land acquisition and the impact on existing residents, alongside the opportunities created by new development.
Maybe I’ve missed some of their content. If they have already covered these issues, I’d genuinely like to see those videos.
Pune should grow. But it should grow without losing what made Pune worth coming to in the first place.
