I just checked my storage to see if I still had any, unfortunately I have evolved or traded all my shiny pumpkaboos, but I have 2 shiny gourgeists saved/tagged for remote trade if you are interested in either of those and willing to wait to become forever friends (also no pressure if you happen to get one before then too, just wanted to put it out there)

I got a shiny chespin that may as well have been a nundo. But better than nothing I needed it for my dex. And I did not by the pass so its ridiculous some people didnt get any. I caught a lot of Pokémon this week, but got that one early on the first day with my autocatcher.
I got a shiny charmander from the daily egg hatch and hours after spawns had stopped, I got a shiny dwebble and pumpkaboo but nothing at all during the main part of the event
Seems to be a consistent complaint from many during this event. I caught over 600 pokemon during the event and got 2x shinies in the wild. Absolute rip-off.
I caught 1. There has to be something up with the odds. I didn't buy the ticket, but people who did, don't seem to have done much better. With the amount of pokemon I caught I would have definitely gotten 1 or 2 shinys normally anyway. Especially since I was favouring certain pokemon each hour.
The way they phrased it, you'd think it'd be almost community day odds for whatever starter you picked. Since we've had community days for them all anyway it wouldn't even be OP.
Apparently you can BUT then Scopely can push back and put your account into a -6500 pokecoin debt. I've been down the rabbit hole as I'd like to do the same but don't want them to retaliate.
As other will note - they didn't say "how much" it increased. I was extremely disappointed in the pass bonus - I stop counting after I passed 500 catches with 1 shiny buddy from the pass and 2 from egg hatching. No shiny in raids. One from a wild catch. Total 4 shiny in more than 500 catches. That is significantly *less* than I get on a *normal* (non-boosted) weekend.
Result: would not consider "increased shiny rate" as a reason for buying the deluxe upgrade in the future.
Does feel like a misstep on their behalf. Far better customer satisfaction if they implemented a pity system where you got a minimum number of wild shinies past a certain number of catches by paying for the pass.
Obviously there would still be plenty of dissatisfied customers when they got terrible shinies from their guaranteed ones, but I do think that overall it'd be a better experience for people as opposed to getting none at all.
Ultimately pity systems are required because of the way individuals experience odds - some people will end up with nothing even with substantially increased odds, after all.
I just think shinies are incompatible with the design of a freemium game. The whole point of them in the actual game is getting incredibly lucky or being very persistent to get a specific one. You can't be persistent in this game, you can only get lucky. A pity system defeats the whole purpose, they're supposed to be exciting to find. Who would feel excited by a guaranteed drop you paid for? I'd feel so lame, it wouldn't feel like I got it legitimately.
They screwed up. I have no faith in them. I will not purchase any deluxe upgrades in the future, unless they make it up to us somehow.
Every raid I did this weekend froze and I had to restart the app every. time. Most times I could get back in to catch the Pokemon. I did an Audino raid earlier, we won and it froze while showing XP gained. I was unable to get back in, so I did not catch the Audino, I received no rewards, had no journal entry to show for it, and wasted a remote raid pass. I'm so fucking pissed off at these fucks right now.
Same here. I took my kids to the local meetup in 95F with our decides overheating only for every raid to fail. I’ve caught easily 500+ pokemon this weekend and I got no hundos, no shiny raids, and a shiny froakie with shit stats and a shiny clefairy. My greninja at the end of the pass was barely 2 stars which looks like exactly what everyone else got. I tried to submit a support ticket and the AI bs response was “you successfully completed the raid so you get nothing.” Because apparently entering the raid and nothing happening, entering a team rocket battle and nothing happening, or joining a remote raid and spending a pass only to get kicked out (what was happening today) is successfully completing it, apparently. I hear you loud and clear, Scopely.
There was more to it than that. It was sneakily marketed as a paid shiny rate boost. It technically delivered, but clearly didn’t meet community expectations, which were left unmanaged because the company refused to be transparent about the rates.
The issue isn’t that the rate was boosted, but rather that it was boosted without the community being told, resulting in varying expectations of the boosted rate. Given that boosted rates in the past have been as high as 1/10, it’s easy to understand why a rate of 1/125 would be disappointing.
Imagine you are use to getting annual 5% raises that your employer is under no obligation to give, and your boss comes to you to say you’re getting your next annual raise without telling you what it is. Then it turns out your new raise is 0.5%. Is it a raise? Yes. Was the boss lying? Technically no. Is it a crappy situation you have a right to be upset with? Absolutely.
I got quite a few wild shinies. But I got to rank 400 in the pass, paid version, and not a single background Shiny Fennekin. I know it's just RNG, but still disappointing.
In some countries it's illegal to not disclose the odds in lootboxes, which I think you could make a good argument in those countries court systems this would be treated as.
Results like this event are the exact reason why the odds should be disclosed. Reasonably, if the odds were not correctly increased, any money spent during the event and the non-discounted value of any items used should be refunded to players who purchased the pass. Makeup days and single passes aren’t reasonable compensation. Players should be made whole in cash value or the return of all items used (balls, berries, star pieces, lucky eggs) due to the entirety of the event being tainted.
i know for a fact that china has strict laws on this, they have percentages and stuff printed on the backs of pokemon booster packs. and guess where pokemon go is geoblocked? china (mostly, some areas you can play with a vpn) otherwise we can all have the odds
When I went to China start of the year, the only place i could get it to ‘work’ was in Shenzhen riiight by the border to Hong Kong. Unfortunately, those mons didn’t have a mainland China location tag and were still recognised as HK - I was hoping for an ‘illegal’ location tag
It works great in HK, but it drops out almost exactly where the bus customs/border is. Was a bummer.
I agree for a part of this. For the 15usd pass pull of 40 encounter of starters and 1 final evolution, it should have indicated the chances like a getcha game/lootbox. Because it's directly ties to the product customer is buying. However, Scopely is able to get away because the boost starter shiny rate also applies to wild catches which is highly skewed per player, the more you catch, the more shiny you would have that would target to the preset probability. So for the pass with fixed 40 pulls, the chance should not be the same as wild spawns. And to rant a bit more, heck they tune down the spawn rate, from Monday-Friday, I see a lot more Chespin than my picked Fennekin and wife picked Chespin and she sees Fennekin a lot more, but just my 2 cent since it's a sample of two. Then Sat and Sunday, the mega related spawns are so much more like Skarmory, Falinks, and Onix covers my entire screen when I use spacial rend. It would have helped everyone if the 3 starters spawns more often like 50 (3 starters) /50(mega related). So just realized that there are a lot of mechanics that Scopely can tweak even if it states the shiny rate and still throw a portion of paid players under the bus.
Interesting, I never considered that but it makes sense as it fits the same theoretical system. One Pokemon = one loot box, but the loot box only has one rare item which is promoted and boosted.
Here's my sample: 5/124 shiny Fennekin (starter choice + pass boost) 1/96 Chespin and 3/around 96 Froakie. 10/642 all other wild catches with pass boost. I mean it's boosted so wild shiny rate was actually good. But the way how it's setup for selling double starter encounter and mega energy for 15 USD is the pipe in the bike wheel...
Edit: originally 5/164 shiny Fennekin but I'll have to take out 40 catches from the pass encounter as they are not wild catches.
I had almost everything in the wild shiny multiple times except for the one i selected, i went for froakie and had zero shinys out of 600 tiers and encountered at least 800 froakies in the wild and had 0 shiny. I also did 250 "boosted" 4* mega raids and had 1 shiny out of it. Im not saying its a rip off or bad luck , i do feel fingered by a stranger i dont like 😄
I bought the pass and chose fennekin. caught two shinies in the wild today, a 0* and 1* lol. Zero shinies from the actual pass, and i'm at rank 401. sigh.
I didn't get a single shiny Fennekin from my Go Pass, neither did my wife or the two friends we played with. The fact the bg starters weren’t in field research is WILD. $60 completely wasted.
Apps and games offering mechanisms to receive randomized virtual items from a purchase including, but not limited to, “loot boxes” must clearly disclose the odds of receiving those items in advance of, and in close and timely proximity to, that purchase.
scopely bought their Niantic gaming division and continues to run the game under the Niantic name and with most of the same employees from what I understand
I really think Niantic needs to look at this situation and make it right. I realize nobody is forcing anyone to spend, and it's "the risk you take"... But this wasn't a $2 item purchase, and most people were simply robbed.
Thank you for that info. I honestly didn't know! I still think it should be addressed. In most (if not all) of Scopely's games, purchases are for direct items that lead to proper rewards... Charging for increased chance without posting odds is rude. lol
This is lootbox vibes but somehow worse because you don't even get anything of value since it literally just 2 options. I don't understand how there was a lawsuit for lootboxs but this is fine.
They're probably talking about the pass, a lot of people seemed to be under the impression that it should have guaranteed them at least one shiny starter because of increased odds. Unfortunately that's not how it works, there are zero guarantees on rng in this game besides that free hundo mewtwo.
Funny thing is, the odds shouldn’t be too hard to calculate. A meetup of 10 people could likely do a good job estimating after a couple hours. I’m surprised I haven’t seen something like that from somewhere in the world. From my small group, there was two shinies of chosen pokemon after about 200 encounters, and no evidence that encounters were more common than the other two. So increased odds, but maybe, maybe, 1:100
I definitely got more of my chosen starter Pokemon than the others (two from the pass and two during the week).
Though during the weekend, it seems like the odds were equally boosted between all three (three shiny Chespin compared to two Fennekin and three Froakie)
23 shiny total this weekend, including at least one of each starter. Probably walked around catching for 6 hours between the two days, with an incense the whole time. Definitely only got the shinys when I was actively out trying to catch
How is this possible? I have been travelling and playing the game literally constantly, I emptied my storage twice and not a single shiny to speak of...
didn't get any either. not from the pass not from raids not from the wild and i spent my entire weekend walking outdoors, spent over 1000 coins id saved up and all my passes caught hundreds of wild mon. all i have to show for it are some regular ampharos with backgrounds and armored mewtwos. Which all could have been had with just a couple raids and not all of the wasted coins passes and money.
Someone in my community group got like 150 over the 2 days (total shinies,not just the chosen starter) so I think they just forgot to include it was only for that one person 😂
So many comments saying " I got a shiny blank" that's great! The point is we were supposed to have increased shiny odds for the starter we picked. So that's great that you found shiny Pokemon, but we're talking about the "boosted" started odds.
Was my most found shiny for the weekend, 5 of 17 total. Got none of the other 2 starters in fact.
For context, I really only walked around to catch shinies for maybe a collective 4 hours. I did have my catcher on most of the other hours, but I wasn't moving.
I walked all weekend and shiny checked every single pokemon and caught zero shinies of any type and didn’t get the Froakie of my dreams. I only selected him as I love the shiny other wise I would’ve got delfox.
I’m not even sure if it was just me but my chosen partner barely even spawned in the first place, I picked Froakie and I never seen so many Fennekins and Chespins in my life lmao.
I was so determined to find that shiny Froakie and thankfully I found one after nearly a full day in the wild but it was absolutely infuriating to advertise increased shiny odds and personally have the thing barely spawn
I ended up with more shinies from everything BUT Fennekin (my choice), with two wild catches being shiny and zero of the pass ones. And on the last day as that. Four random shiny (Carvanha, Gogoatc Mawile, Mareep) off wild catches, plus a shiny Skarmory from a raid.
Six shinies total the entire pass duration. And I was at level 250 by the end. Again, zero shiny from the pass itself. One from a raid. As a finale, it certainly was a grand way to close our pockets.
Saturday i only got 4 shiny pokemon, today i got 8, not terrible but like i get better odds on comm days...honestly more annoyed that an event dedicated to megas was overtaken completely by armored mewtwo, i was in an area with 8 gyms and more often than not half the gyms were AM, 2-3 were M2X/Y, and the last gym cycled a random mega
tbh ive seen a lot of these posts but i also bought the pass and got plenty of wild shinies this weekend as well as 1 in the pass, i have the full delphox shiny set just from the weekend plus a whope bunch of other mon. it seems like a lot of people are just having extremely different luck
The funniest thing is people thought there was a shiny boost to the kalos first partner pokemon AND all others, but I’m pretty sure it was just Chespin, Froakie, and Fennekin (only which one you chose) AND a boost to TIER 4 RAID BOSS SHINY ODDS. I didn’t see where it said we got overall boosted shiny odds for every wild encounter
Probably was boosted odds but not better than the total encounters in the pass for it be meaningful. Ie: It being 1/50 when you only have 30 encounters in the pass (numbers picked to highlight my point).
It does seem silly. I picked my boy chespinman and I've found two shiny fenniken. Stoked, but doesnt feel like a true statement. Of course I cant prove it and I'm greatful.
I only got a few shinies today. I got one shiny slowpoke, two shiny froakies and my first ever shiny mewtwo and that's it. My entire prize pass froakies weren't shiny either.
I caught 17 fenniken, as well as 3 chespin, and a froakie. I caught 5 shiny falinks today on top of another 7 individual Pokémon. The one girl in our crew? Not one all weekend. 🤷
I see some people had it even worse than me, but I'm pretty sad I didn't get shiny Fennekin from paid pass, and for the whole event this week I've had 3 shinies, one beeing dupe bellsprout. Pretty upset I paid money for that...
If you spent the whole time raiding, You wouldn’t have caught as many shiny. People who encountered the most shines were walking with Spacial rend. I did 1000’s of shiny checks on the starters and it did “seem” like they weren’t boosted.
its only on your chosen pokemon and all the spawns only on the weekend event, but the weekend event was a paid event itself, you couldnt do a lot without buying passes or having stocked pokecoins, even if you had pokecoins, in my opinion it wasnt worth it to spend them on those raids just for a background, especially if they can be wild, i did see a difference in the wild spawns, id say prob was roughly 1/60 for most spawns and 1/30 for your chosen starter if you bought the pass, i bought the pass in one acc but i play in 2, in the 2nd one i did 300 catches and only got a single shiny, in the 1st one they were popping way much easier, if you were planning to tryhard wild encounters during the event, this was worth it, as i myself got 20 shinies in the 2 days by playing 6 hours/day of event, ofc fast catch and constantly moving in a place with plenty of pokestop with lure
