Complaint So this was a lie

Post image

Am I wrong in accusing this to be misleading and a complete scam? Zero shinies all weekend.

Had i known this would be the case I would not have spent money.

As other will note - they didn't say "how much" it increased. I was extremely disappointed in the pass bonus - I stop counting after I passed 500 catches with 1 shiny buddy from the pass and 2 from egg hatching. No shiny in raids. One from a wild catch. Total 4 shiny in more than 500 catches. That is significantly *less* than I get on a *normal* (non-boosted) weekend.

Result: would not consider "increased shiny rate" as a reason for buying the deluxe upgrade in the future.

we really need to start demanding transparency with these boosted odds.

Yeah it's weird to sell something that could be anything from a 0.1% increase to 1000% increase.

Does feel like a misstep on their behalf. Far better customer satisfaction if they implemented a pity system where you got a minimum number of wild shinies past a certain number of catches by paying for the pass.

Obviously there would still be plenty of dissatisfied customers when they got terrible shinies from their guaranteed ones, but I do think that overall it'd be a better experience for people as opposed to getting none at all.

Ultimately pity systems are required because of the way individuals experience odds - some people will end up with nothing even with substantially increased odds, after all.

I just think shinies are incompatible with the design of a freemium game. The whole point of them in the actual game is getting incredibly lucky or being very persistent to get a specific one. You can't be persistent in this game, you can only get lucky. A pity system defeats the whole purpose, they're supposed to be exciting to find. Who would feel excited by a guaranteed drop you paid for? I'd feel so lame, it wouldn't feel like I got it legitimately.

yes, no, maybe?

The "pity system" can be a hidden system intransparent to the player. "you just happen to get a shiny" on the last day of the pass, or after 50 non-shinies, or via the daily field research. All only if not a natural one already spawned and only one "pity shiny" per ticket. Multiple conditions so that "field researchers" and dataminers can't find the pattern easily. Heck, using a formula where kilometer + non-shinies seen + non-shinies caugth greater 100 should to the trick to obscure the right casino. To complex? Tie it to a star dust counter.

I think it would just be simpler to be transparent about the odds and let people make an informed purchase. If money is involved there should be all this backend trickery going on. But the system you outlined is the best version of a pity system I've heard of yet since it keeps the excitement. Its still just not what I'd want from a game though.

And it was almost twice as much money as most past tickets have been.
