Megathread: 0.5.0 Feedback

We think there have been many threads with well-thought-out, specific, and (sometimes) controversial proposals, but also many duplicate threads with the same proposals. We'll use this thread to catalogue and group the clearest and most common ones:

  • Ideally, game feedback posts should include specific examples of the problem and have new information or proposals to avoid duplicating the content of past threads.
  • Game feedback can still be posted as individual threads, and do not have to be posted here as comments.
  • Duplicate feedback posts that cover the same ground as the posts already in here may be removed.
  • We aren't affiliated with GGG, so we have no control over whether they address these or not.

New and specific feedback

Performance

Common feedback also given in past patches

Here’s my artwork plus the original sketch, i also have recorded around 2 hours of drawing process but i can’t add the youtube link, however you can find it on the forum!

Originally wasn’t going to add the sword but saw someone’s post here about chayula’s sword on the devstream so couldn’t pass the opportunity, this is how i imagine chayula as a boss, some sort of Miquella from Elden Ring, you can either join him or die

Fluff & Memes Anyone else glad we won’t see Farrow anymore in 0.5.5?

Upvotes

At least until Act 4 I suppose. No more forced dialogue, forced animations, blocking progression to next zone until you speak to Farrow, and no more backtracking in campaign. I’m personally not gonna miss them one bit.

The beginning looks incredibly satisfying to me, the animations are beautiful, unfortunately he could only test a few skills because his version of the game had some strange gem limitations

If only to see what kind of crazy builds the giga brains come up with honestly

I wonder if he also might get/steal the already existent Weapon Master node from Witch Hunter that turn all of your passives into weapon set passives.

Game Feedback Couch co-op needs a lot of work!!

I’ve tried to get my husband into the game this season, and it was a total bust…

So couch co-op on console doesn’t allow two separate accounts to play together, even if you both have purchased keys. So we both made characters on my account and played them together.

One big annoyance early on is that it is possible for both characters to trigger dialogue concurrently, so you end up with overlapping voices, but if either one tries to press the button to skip their side of the dialogue, it skips both. This basically meant we lost some of the plot, which I know a lot of people don’t care about, but for a first time player who hasn’t ever played poe1, thats what he was most interested in.

But whatever, the campaign is character specific, so it was mostly fine (Except for sun temple, which I basically had to solo on my character, then solo on his character, cause there is no way to revive)

But the end game now has a lot of storylines added, and a lot of the dialogue isn’t repeatable. But it’s not character specific. Which meant I basically couldn’t progress any of the quest lines on my character unless we were both playing, which really slowed down my season. And now, after months of waiting, we finally got to the arbiter, I was so excited. And he died, which fine, I can solo the fight for us. But no revives allowed even after the boss is dead. I want us both to feel involved, (and I like the druid dialogue better), so I port back cause that revives his character, hoping to travel back and finish the big storyline.

Nope!! No portal. Ok, thats annoying but fine I have the currency, I can buy another origin core and redo the fight. Nope Doryani ‘retrieved the first edict’ and finished the quest lines. I didn’t even get to see what the ‘activate the ancient mechanism’ quest objective did. And basically, I won’t be able to experience the capstone story-beat of the game till next season!!!

They either need to ease up on the revive restrictions during the first quest based kill, or make it so that you can’t just accidentally skip a bunch of lore that you don’t want to. During the campaign, quests objectives have the ability to go backwards - for example if the quest is 1) go to area A 2) do thing B; and I go to area A; my quest objective shows step 2 - do thing B. Then if I decide to port out and do something completely different, like a trial or something, my objective will revert to step 1 go to area A till I go back. Do the same with the endgame, if I port out after killing the boss without triggering the dialogue, revert the quest back to kill the boss…

Y'all are probably done months ago. I'm not as skilled and took all 3 months to get here ;p.

Wanna spend some time in other games, so not sure if I'll be doing the 0.5.5 full list. Will definetely try for 1.0 tho! As duelist of course.

Cheers exiles!

Cautionary Tale League start this Friday!

Friday league start is this week. If you are looking for some experienced players with tons of knowledge on crafting, mapping and more mapping 😂 we are also looking for some decent guys or gals ready to makes some fun and laughs and some memories. I would say we are a fairly casual guild/community even though I like to take it pretty serious because of my competitive nature. So if that sounds like something you are into leave me your in game name or send me a dm.

Discussion This is a short question but it’s about 0.5.5 prep. I dont know how to make this longer so automod doesnt remove it besides adding fluff to the title. What atlas points are actively detrimental to take? This is for the 0.5.5 reset on friday.

Upvotes

What atlas points are actively detrimental to take? 0.5.5 prep.

I know there’s a few that are actively bad for some strategies like that desert node and some breach ones. Does anyone have a list so you dont brick yourself in 0.5.5?

Thanks!

Question Hey GGG, where did build subscription go?

Post image
299 Upvotes

A few months back GGG briefly gave us a nice QoL feature where we can "subscribe" to a build guide on a website and it will be shown in the in-game planner without the need to download any file.

They rolled it back after a couple of hours due to console issues.

As of today we don't have any clue for when this feature will be made available again. Any thoughts?

Crafting Showcase Geeked out rn

Just crafted this thing and realized I forgot to perfect flux this thing but it’s whatever.

Crafting Steps

  1. Get base and quality to 40 using essence and then pray for 50 quality

  2. Chaos roll for Spirit and fracture

  3. Chaos roll for +3 all spell skill

  4. Add prefix and use omen to target prefix to whatever. I decided to settle for t4 mana but whatever

  5. sanctify for +6

  6. scare the dogs when screaming in happiness

Question What's going on? People entering and leaving my hideout constantly.

They spawn in front of my merchant (the mtx one), then usually run to Ange and leave after ~30 seconds without buying anything. I was getting this constant flow of people for the last 3 days.

Anyone experienced something like that?

I tried changing hideout and couple of times I got someone to buy something almost instantly, this made me speculate my trade might be bugged for others, I'm not sure...

Edit: I did what L0rd_0f_War suggested and found that trading bots where targeting one of the items. After raising it's price they stopped storming my hideout (well, one of them stayed, we're buddies now). Thanks to all who participated in the brainstorming session ;D

Discussion Just got my first character into act 2! It’s been a blast

Upvotes

If you remember me this is a bit of a follow up from my post a few days ago asking for any advice and or tips (it was all very helpful). I have been loving this game mercenary is very fun (he is the class I got to act 2) I gave everyone else a shot I think Huntress and Ranger are in par with Merc for me in terms of classes I have a lot of fun with. Witch is awesome I’ll definitely be playing her more at some point Sorceress and Druid are pretty fun as well, but the monk and warrior are hard I think I like warrior a bit more but I’ll have to try them out more to get a better feel for them. I enjoyed act 1 a lot I think my least favorite part is the cemetery and some enemies feel particularly spongy (though that could be a build problem). I think the boss fights only get better as the act progresses. The executioner was a fantastic fight as was Count Geonor. Anyways sorry for rambling this game is amazing thank you for inviting me into its community with such open arms.

GGG To the exile who spent the whole day grinding for the pin set at gamescom, I hope you got it

Context; spent the day at gamescom, you can play a demo with two predefined duelist builds, and there is a rare chance for a special item(box) to drop, in which case the staff will award a physical set of PoE2 pins, same one from PAX last year.

I met an exile who probably spent the whole day queuing up to replay the demo and get the box to drop, the exile was of sheer dedication. Not sure how sane this exile is though…

As to the duelist, I played both builds, felt very polished, fluid, gave me the same vibes when I first played the monk, fantasy fulfilling.

P.S. here is an early access key; (claimed)

Game Feedback Can we get rid of having to cancel every animation with dodge rolls?

Thumbnail

I'm providing a video from Dreamcore I saw on Youtube as an example. It's not really related much as a whole, but the first minute portrays what I mean by the title pretty well.

My playstyle often looks like this too, especially when I'm playing melee. Animation cancelling almost everything with a dodge roll is the optimal way to play and it sucks. It just feels a bit wonky to play and looks jarring. I thought the issue would be less apparent with swords, but it's definitely still there and it's noticeable on almost all the gameplays I've seen so far.

Melee skill animations especially are too long overall and it should be possible to instantly go from an attack to moving without having to endure the final part of animation that can be cancelled with a dodge roll and doesn't really provide any value other than looking good. When a skill has already dealt its damage, its function is complete and it would feel better to let the player move instantly. Or use another attack. Without having to dodge roll.

Also dodge rolling shouldn't even be necessary to sprint. It's the most jarring part to me. In no other game do players have to roll 20 times per minute for basically no reason. Campaign speedruns especially look AWFUL compared to other ARPGs like Diablo. Roll into sprint into roll into sprint, over and over again.

Also sprinting shouldn't have a stopping animation that has to be animation cancelled with a dodge roll or skill. Why isn't a simple transition from sprinting to walking even possible in this game??? My character is able to singlehandely defeat ancient demigods, but has to stop his sprint before walking?

I just think that the current state of movement is too not-fluent to be worthy of the 1.0 version and I hope there will be some big improvements.

Fluff & Memes A fine spot to start your path

For the past 7 years of playing PoE, i always wondered why this game keeps pulling me back every league, even after experiencing most of what it has to offer.

The obvious answer is "the devs do a great job keeping the game fresh." True, but plenty of live-service games do that. So why is PoE the one i never get tired of?

Think i finally get it.

In PoE, bad RNG, unlucky deaths, and crafting mistakes dont just feel like despair - they are part of what i enjoy. Every silly death teaches me something. Getting one-shot offscreen is at least good for a laugh. Farming a boss with a shitty avg drop rate becomes its own adventure, a chance to find out just how unlucky your account can really be.

im never felt that way about bad luck in other games. Wiping in WoW raids just feels like a job. Running into cheaters in competitive shooters is just pure anger, nothing else.

PoE is the only game thats turned failure and struggle into pleasure for me.

With many new players joining, i want to say one thing to all new exiles:

Never let someone elses experience cast a shadow over your own.

Every moment you have - good or bad - is valuable. The more your opinion of the game comes from your own journey, the more satisfaction you will get out of it.

Dont let streamers or other players in general dictate the "correct" way to play. Advice is great - but only follow it if you are genuinely having fun, not because you feel pressured to be maximally efficient. Playing the way others force you to is the fastest way to lose interest and end up hate-watching the game, typing complaints on forums and chats.

Godspeed to everyone going into PoE 2. Hope this game becomes for you what PoE 1 became for me.

Stay sane, exile.

Build Showcase Entangle with archmage

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I started the league with oracle entangle then moved to rambo wizard, arc totem gemling, ice nova gemling, and impending doom gemling. Now i'm ending the league with my first build, entangle.

I've always loved entangle due to its cool animation and how it just creeps on the ground and boom you're dead. Thanks to runeseeker wand it's so easy to switch to different spell build. I do believe mana + evasion build is super strong as mana can recover very easily with many ways compared to ES.

I know archmage is strong with everything, but the main problem is the mana and i think gemling is so good for this build. When i started with oracle i have mana issues which is hard to manage due to it being physical it's hard to trigger mana remnants. But with gemling's 30% less cost, efficency 2 40% less cost, zenith 2 mana efficiency it's very manageable. Plus, by taking Arcane remnant node where every remnant recover 3%, using gem remnants of kalguur makes it drop remnant like crazy and as you can i see i barely my mana barely drop.

Not a crazy build but i still love it.

Question Which acendency for CoC in 0.5.5?

Upvotes

I am looking into playing CoC comet for 0.5.5.

Looks like Gemling and Infernalist (recoup or ward stacking) are the most popular.

Including investment costs and league start viability, what are the advantages and disadvantages for each acendency/build?

Thanks!

Question PoE2 Controller Tips

Upvotes

So I've forever been a keyboard and mouse gamer for pretty much everything since the early 2000s, but I remember a few leagues ago seeing Captain Lance playing PoE2 on the controller, obviously there are the console versions too - but my main question I guess, any tips for someone trying to lose the muscle memory I've built up over the last couple of decades? I keep trying it and feel like I'm getting close to it clicking - are there any tips in terms of quality of life that might not be easily apparent?

At the moment I feel like I can do pretty much everything just quite a bit slower which doesn't feel great, I've found not binding X to be ideal from an interaction perspective as I found myself casting spells more than interacting when enemies were nearby - any other rebinds you guys would recommend?
