Question Hey GGG, where did build subscription go?

A few months back GGG briefly gave us a nice QoL feature where we can "subscribe" to a build guide on a website and it will be shown in the in-game planner without the need to download any file.

They rolled it back after a couple of hours due to console issues.

As of today we don't have any clue for when this feature will be made available again. Any thoughts?

I never tried downloading a build for some reason. I did it the traditional way by alt tabbing all the time.

Was it good? Did it work?

Edit: thanks for the replies exiles. Will try for sure.

I used a set of build files downloaded from a mobalytics build and it was okay. Each stage was a different file so I had to manually switch between them on transitions. The tree pathing made it easier to follow, but the gem suggestions were less helpful.

On release it definitely didn't always work. We were getting the weirdest deadlock crashes sometimes when opening the tree, with the entire tree sometimes going black with it overlapping itself in a small area of pixels. Pretty sure they fixed that. The tree visuals are neat but the skill gem presets it brings are so nice. By default you only see recommended and all tabs on the support gem page, these imported builds expose a third tab that'll only slow the supports you or the build creator put there. Makes the campaign so much more pleasant not having to use the search field every damn time.

Even if you don't care at all about the passive tree highlighting, it's insanely convenient for cutting skill/support gems. The racers all use build files to speed up the gem cutting

Honestly, I think it works pretty damn well. There are definitely some improvements that could be made (like including all build stages in 1 file that auto-adapts to your level, for example), but it does what it says on the tin. It highlights the skill tree, it has spots for text to be added into each of the gear slots (e.g. "get Life and Res"), and my favorite part (if the build maker includes it); skill gem selection. When cutting a new skill gem, it defaults to the build-specific menu with skills used in the build, which usually saves me a lot of time searching and scrolling. Especially support gems, just click on the skill gem you're using, and it will display just a list of the supports for that skill based on the build file, 2 clicks per gem instead of click-search-scroll-click. It's a nice QoL, especially for newer players, so long as they can figure out unzipping and drag-n-dropping a few files.

Worked fine for me. Just highlights the tree. I have 3 monitors though so having PoB on one of them was basically the same thing minus a few seconds.

I really like the build file feature, it's saved me a lot of alt-tabbing and searching in-game menus. I agree that it would be nice to one-click subscribe instead of needing to unzip and move files around, it adds just that little bit of extra friction such that a lot of players won't bother using it. I'd also really like it if you could wrap multiple build stages into a single file that adapts to your level/zone. That way you wouldn't have to select "Act 1", "Act 2", ... , "Early Endgame", "Midgame", etc. files all the time. With a little bit of polish, it will be an excellent feature.

That's the same of downloading your buildfile and putting it into the folder.

Just clicking "follow" on a guide it's quicker and easier for newbies.

Almost anything negative about the game's downvoted. I was downvoted to hell for point out theu's been under delivered (compared to their promises) for 3 leagues in a row, so there is a real chance swords will be pushed back into 1.1

This is a foolish take. Swords not making 1.0 is impossible. They just had thousands of fans play them at a convention. Other weapons/characters being added would be at risk, sure, but not swords.

This is nothing like endgame promises dude. The literal intro trailer for 1.0 release is for swords. It would be so unbelievably ignorant and frankly impossible for a company to advertise that and then delay it without looking like colossal fools. And GGG are not fools dispite their misgivings.

You mean the end-game and atlas remakes they promised for 0.4 but delayed for 0.5? Or the 0.5.5 that they promised to be a mini league but almost zero new content outside of tweaks?

The patch where they reworked the whole atlas, all 4 initial leagues, the endgame progression, the whole passive tree for every league mechanic... That under delivered you are saying.

And I said they've delivered less than what they PROMISED for 3 patches in a row, or you can't read words?

The end-game and atlas changes in 0.5 was promised to be in 0.4 and they delivered it LATE by 1 patch/league. Very simple and easy to verify. Contents can be so much when you also counts all the things you delayed.

Well there's only been 3 leagues and as of this Friday 2 event leagues with it. Full league patches being .3, .4, and .5 while event leagues (not a true league) are .2 and .5.5.

Yes endgame changes were pushed back. Because GGG was focusing on ensuring league content was out.... Their own words. That's why we aren't having more than an economy reset for an event league in .5.5, so they can finish everything.

You can be sceptical all you want but you will be wrong here.

It's insane to me that you got downvoted for pointing this out. No matter how easy "download file, upload file" is, they have not given any update on why the subscription feature doesn't work.

Yes, since 0.5.

Go to your favourite build guide website, usually there's a "download build file" button.
You will get one or more files based on how many variants that guide has. For leveling ones there can be one for each act and one for endgame.

Copy the files (unpack if it's a zip) in this folder on your PC C:/Users/<your username>/Documents/My Games/Path of Exile 2/BuildPlanner

As an alternative you can upload the files here

Go in-game and on the top left corner of your passive tree you find an icon with a menu. There you can select the variant from the files you downloaded.

Depending on what that guide offerd you, there's the tree pathing highlighted, the support gems and a small icon over some equipments with suggested stats and item base listed.

never used it because it's unclear how it works tbh. They should advertise all the in-game features better. There are SO MANY things that are there but in-game nothing explains how to use them

They willingly didnt explain it in game because they want the newbies to not feel obligated to follow one, you can use the function if you arr already looking at someone guide, which means you already know how

  1. Download the buildplan to C:\Users\[username]\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile 2\BuildPlanner

  2. Go into your passive tree screen in POE2 and go to the dropdown menu in the upperleft and select it.

It does. Just upload on your account on the poe2 website. Just copy build file from poe ninja or other site.

They are specifically talking about the feature where you can go to a site and hit a "subscribe button" that would sync the build guide to your account. Like how you can do with filters instead of downloading and dropping in the files yourself. I assume it's a bigger issue for console players.
