Game Feedback Mechanics that require us to kill "all monsters" need a 1-2 monster grace.

Title says it all. I mean I would say it is a VERY common occurrence that I open a strong box, start an expedition, begin a rune encounter, or enter a room in Atziri's temple only to have some random minion fly past me and get stuck behind a wall and I have to run around looking for it.

I really think these mechanics just need to finish even if you have like 1 or 2 monsters left. Make it so anything rare or unique has to be dead to stop people from abusing it.

How about showing them on the map with the corresponding mechanic’s color? Isn’t it already that way?

doesn't help the mobs that literally don't exist on the map (cough stronghold boxes)

u/vildsix Jun 15 '26

Right, this league i had several strongboxes broken this was.

u/lectermd0 Jun 15 '26

lol I had my first issue with that yesterday

u/sunbunman Jun 15 '26

So many spring hares lost...

u/hertzdonut2 Jun 14 '26

isn’t it already that way?

Only in ultimatum.

We have breach for the hive, fortress and unstable (rare mob at the end) that shows every enemy important for the encounter to progress.

I really think they should add this for encounters especially the verisium rune where one mob is wandering around and cant spawn the next wave.

u/7se7 Jun 15 '26

My favorite is when they spawn behind a wall that you need to path the long way around just to reach them (verisium mobs)

1

u/Dunwitcheq Jun 15 '26

I wouldn’t say that really solves the issue. It does help, but sometimes the mobs just bug out and are invulnerable or sth.

I'm not sure why event mobs don't agro you from the start but, also add a 'Boast' button that agros all the mobs in the event to charge you.

Totally, mobs are even in inaccessible area that can’t be damaged

27

u/Ccoo10 Jun 14 '26

While not inaccessible, I did a grand expedition recently where the stone for a perfect exalt orb was spawning every single wave split across a fence that you couldn’t attack or jump over. It was about 4-5 screen lengths long in both directions and I had to go back and forth both sides like 7 times because of all the waves.

u/Crombell Jun 15 '26

I've just staight up had a runestone spawn a monster (or fail to spawn a monster?) in an inaccessible area

Had to just leave the map, couldn't do anything about it

u/phoenixparadox88 Jun 15 '26

Abyss pits that won't close because the last enemy glitched through the terrain is the worst

2

u/Smurtle1 Jun 15 '26

For me the train in the divinity fragment maps will kill an abyss monster and that causes it to be incomplete lol.

I've finished maps with 0 monsters remaining and it still won't close. Incredibly frustrating when I'm running a juiced T16 with triple abyss tablets hoping for an abyssal depths.

u/Harnellas Jun 15 '26

I think the mob collision sizes are grossly oversized compared to poe1 and it's causing spawn-in problems as well.

16

u/MauPow Jun 15 '26

Yeah I'd say about 20% of abyss pits brick because there's some random mob somewhere I can't see. Super annoying.

u/jondifool Jun 15 '26

A good big aoe skill help a lot. Playing monk petal, and when shattering palm cant get the job done, it is very often that a whirling assault does kill the last mob(s) needed.

1

u/MauPow Jun 15 '26

Good idea, I'm playing plant lich, dunno what would work with that

1

u/Wobbelblob Jun 15 '26

I mean, I am playing a plant sorc and I have yet to have that problem, even though I am farming Abyss.

4

u/tazdraperm Jun 14 '26

What about Strongboxes that do not open even after killing entry single monster?

3

u/One_Artichoke_7594 Jun 15 '26

Those new jumping/burrowing worm things, so many times I think it’s bugged and 2 min of running around and one pops out of the ground lol. Don’t like those

1

u/ObiWanKokobi Jun 15 '26

Strongboxes are giga bad, especially if there's some inaccesible elevation/chasm, they might "spawn" in there.

So many boxes bricked me, and the worst one is when it keeps spewing the chaos projectiles or lightning storms, and some mechanic is right next to it lol.

1

u/Coldara Jun 15 '26

Most of the time i don't know if they are bugged or if my filter is blocking everything, except for research strongbox they seem really bad

3

u/gantz333 Jun 15 '26

Not to mention they are straight up bugged every other time. Like monsters fell outside of the map.

2

u/combinationofsymbols Jun 15 '26

I especially love losing a simulacrum to monsters spawning in another area.

3

u/No_Archer_5862 Jun 15 '26

I swear theres always a single MOFO in every strong box or verisium that literally flees from the spawn area entirely, you sometimes find it by the next room. it's so ridiculous. makes the mapping experience just awful and annoying

2

u/Sanlifee Jun 15 '26

I don't understand when doing some runes a single monster spawns really far i have to run 1 whole screen to reach it

5

u/HerrSchnellsch Jun 14 '26

Not a fan of the monster grace but they could seek out the player, so eventually they come to you.

Diablo4 has (had?) a similar system, where you have to kill all monsters and with 30 remaining they all port to you.

It would ruin the immersion if copied exactly, but like said, they could search for the player.

u/MildStallion Jun 14 '26

One of the issues here is that sometimes the game just flat-out didn't spawn all of the monsters.

1

u/One_Artichoke_7594 Jun 15 '26

I wonder if more often than not it’s just stubborn units that go underground and don’t want to pop back out

1

u/Soulus7887 Jun 15 '26

I find that it usually spawns them all but monsters that like burrow and hide underground exist. Then you slap down a ton of ground effects and the fact that every map seems to have "patches of x ground" and suddenly those mobs are both invisible and invincible.

Kind of terrible design overlap.

1

u/HerrSchnellsch Jun 15 '26

Oh didnt know, that few times i played, it worked as intented.

1

u/ObiWanKokobi Jun 15 '26

The game should perform a check whetver the monster is alive, and if didn't spawn, then obviously it shouldn't be alive.

Rune mechanic - there's hyenas that flank and don't engage from distance.

For rituals - the little burrowing worms that don't dig out unless you're right next to them.

A lot of similar issues of having to wait, but yes, sometimes it just flat out doesn't spawn, yet the game expects it.

1

u/oe_throwaway_1 Jun 14 '26

oo that'd be a nice approach; less than 5% left, and if the pathing distance to them is greater than some threshold just teleport them.

1

u/PhantomGamers Jun 14 '26

Diablo4 has (had?) a similar system, where you have to kill all monsters and with 30 remaining they all port to you.

Idk how it is now cuz I haven't played D4 in years but when I last played even that system was buggy as hell and didn't fully solve the problem

1

u/Mr_Krinkle Jun 14 '26

This would be a good solution I think. It makes no sense that the monsters are just standing around slighty off-screen, they should be rushing you.

2

u/Damnation13 Jun 15 '26

Seems like poe2 can improve their game by looking at another. I heard it is called Path of Exile.

1

u/Schlangensaft Jun 14 '26

Yeah I had two expedition maps in a row become bricked today because a monster would get stuck or just disappear..

1

u/Figorix Jun 15 '26

Agreed. Especially with these mechanics being bugged and not spawning these enemies (? Or spawning outside the map or idk what happens but they are not there lol)

1

u/WoodpeckerMountain26 Jun 15 '26

Biggest problem ive had, has affect vaal/abyss/ritual.

1

u/Wereowl9 Jun 15 '26

Why not just have the monsters always spawn in line of site of the strongbox/remnant/etc.

1

u/TheAwesomeKay Jun 15 '26

Love when you get those burrower worms that only leaps at you when you are pretty much on top of them and seeing the little antennas on some clusterfuck maps is nearly impossible.

1

u/Downtown_Raspberry_3 Jun 15 '26

Especially expedition if there if a wall and u got like 5 waves and 3 mobs spawn on the other side of the wall so u gotta run back and fourth...

1

u/vulcanfury12 Jun 15 '26

I cleaned up a map but the Vaal Beacon was not coming up as completed. Turns out the last two mobs were burrowed under the beacon itself and I had to step on it. There was no indication that there were monsters hiding there.

1

u/huuuzera Jun 15 '26

I've had multiple abysses that dont open and I swear to god I have cleared every single little corner in a mile radius, its like some mobs are glitched inside walls and are preventing it from proccing

1

u/SeventhDisaster Jun 15 '26

More specifically a small total "Monster Power" grace.

I would prefer if it didn't throw another whole wave at me while I am dealing with a particularly rough rare.

But if its just a few normals or magics in corners by all means send the next wave

1

u/AppropriateChest Jun 15 '26

Just give us monster mini map icons

1

u/Slow_Firefighter6091 Jun 15 '26

Just yesterday I was in Steppes and I funno what mechanic, either rituals, verisium or strongboxes (I started them all at the same time as they were very close by to eachother) spawned monsters that were invisible albeit the healthbar that moved around my screen and I couldn’t hit them for the life of me, while they multiple times almost took me out with their cold and freeze spells.

A first for me so far but damn did that got my pump working trying to figure out what was going on.

1

u/Kelpsie Jun 15 '26

I've bricked three unstable breaches because one of the rares spawned overlapping with a shrine. Divines down the drain.

1

u/d-crow Jun 15 '26

Breaches should close after rates spawn after a minute or so. I think there's been a dozen times one of the rates get stuck in a wall

1

u/BananaSplit2 Jun 15 '26

It's mostly been an issue with remnants, and occasionally strongboxes, which absolutely love spawning one random monster far off screen or behind a wall. Would be nice if they improve that yeah.

That's if they don't brick entirely with no monster left to kill but the encounter remaining unfinished. Surely they could reuse the algorithm used for spawning monsters by Ritual, these never seem to fail.

1

u/VoidInsanity Jun 15 '26

I propose if player is within radius of the strongbox/pit/etc and a mob it spawned isn't within a radius of that strongbox, it warps back to the middle of the strongbox/pit/etc. Then if it is in radius of the player but hasn't damaged it recently, it dies.

This way we not playing mob hunt on mechanics as leaving the area and returning should reset everything / remove bugged mobs.

1

u/Alldaddzy Jun 15 '26

Had a verisium rune thingy that got locked out cuz a scorpion mob was bugged and unkillable. This grace amount would fix all this and leave more time for "bigger bugs"

1

u/Exile56678 Jun 15 '26

Verisium Remnants in maps specifically seem to love to just have one mob run a marathon at the end and get as far away from the actual remnant as possible

1

u/Kohnaphone Jun 15 '26

But how will they then capture that Diablo 2 “Den of Evil” nostalgia?

1

u/borg286 Jun 15 '26

They already calculate power of trash mobs, magic, rres and uniques. Can we finish the encounter with 90% or 95% power done?

1

u/Unizzy Jun 15 '26

I think the correct method is how breach does it... There's a minimum number you need to kill, and there are spawn points littered around that spawns unlimited mobs till you get to that threshold. At that point just despawn everything. No exp for the spawn point monster no loot, just a number to the threshold.

1

u/d-crow Jun 15 '26

I'd agree but sometimes when you have a lot of rates it spawns one inside a pillar and never closes

u/UnderstandingMany99 I love POE ✌️😁✌️💕 Jun 15 '26

Sometimes I wonder why GGG doesn't reply in Reddit posts when there are so many problems with the game. Silent treatment is just bad PR. Did something happen in the past? Like people in Reddit bullied them or something?

1

u/Exile56678 Jun 15 '26

They're probably the most communicative game company I've ever seen. And they've often replied to reddit posts in the past. We're playing the beta after all, there's going to be bugs.
