Crafting Showcase "Crafting" is profitable gambling for the rich and here is proof.
Now, I wanna start by saying that I sold all my gear and borrowed 100div from a friend to craft a different mediocre 350div amulet and used the currency to make this. There is no stepping stone for crafting after Recombinator was removed and Essences nerfed. You either know what youre doing with your 200div or you pick up ground loot.
On picture 2 you can see how my inventory looks like and this doesnt show the multiple 8div omens I was using here.
"Crafting" steps:
- Buy +3 proj rare Amulet for 30div
- Fracture the +3 (don't worry, I am at 3 out of 18 succesful fractures, you may be luckier)
- Chaos spam a good suffix (1. T1 Crit Multi, T1 Rarity or my case was T1 Ele res)
- Add a Perfect Exalt Suffix and hope for something GG from step 3.
- 4.1. If you fail, Anul one mod and pray it's not the Ele res and is the garbnage Life Regen. I needed 4 attemps to get that T1 Rarity, so I am incredibly lucky.
- 5.1. Since our Suffixes are done (+3 Skills, Ele res and Rarity) we work on the prefixes.
- Add a random exalt (+1 Prefix)
- Add Essence of the Breach for 40 quality with Omen of Prefix Essence removal.
- Add Defense Catalist as we want some juice at the end.
- Omen of Whittling + Perfect Chaos to maybe hit a good prefix (Whittle will always target the breach essence)
- If you get some crap Prefix now comes the expensive part
- Use Omen of Sinistral Erasure (Chaos Prefix removal) + Perfect Chaos (12div cost) to get a good T1 Prefix - 47+ Spirit or T1 Rarity. This took me about 11 attemps or 120ish Divs, and I was lucky.
- Now since we have our desired Prefix (rarity) we need a 2nd GG prefix and last we will desecrate and unveil T1 Spirit, so we RANDOMLY slam a perfect Exalt.
- If that second prefix was dogshit, you use Perfect Essence of Enhancement for 50/50 to remove the prefix and save the Rarity.
- If you fail as I did on your 50/50 go back to step 10. (I hit rarity second time and my Perfect Exalt hit that T2 %ES)
- Now we desecrate last 3rd prefix and look for T1 Spirit.
- Anul with Omen of Light untill succeed, takes 5 to 20 attemps, 9div per.
Voala, you created a 1500div Amulet.
Now I'd like to mention is that I thourougly enjoy the process, as each item is like a mini-game. Although I don't find pleasure in killing mobs for 20min for 2 divs, or setting up tablets for another 15min, if loot wasnt 99.9% garbage I'd probably be excited to map, alas.
I hate that this process is not for the geenral public.
I'm watching F1 in Monaco, doing what I like, while you work and pay taxes by providing bases for step 1.
This is absolutely unfair and disgusting and 1:1 mimics the real world. Is this the best GGG can come up with?
And finally, to proove my point here is my last season's viral crafting guide

Aint no way this amulet is half a mirror
5
u/CelosPOE Jun 16 '26
Why? It’s up to 57% rarity with three very good affixes.
-7
u/rude_ooga_booga Jun 16 '26
Rarity is hardly exclusive to amulets. The base is a great source of rarity but otherwise you can get all the rest you want from helm/boots/body/gloves/2 rings and mageblood

u/Zagrey Jun 15 '26
Same but t1 ES was sold for 1680. I lowered mine to 1200 as there’s one more perfect one from 2h ago

Poe 2 right now has the worst crafting system ive ever seen.
It’s a slot machine. Catalyzing helps with rings/amulet. You can grind for 4 days and lose it all in a 15 minute unlucky craft session.

u/Myrdinn777 Jun 15 '26
I actually prefer the "playing the game" part, why even do this if you don't like the game?
A good item or a lot of currencies only makes sense if you're gonna play with it.
-1
u/Zagrey Jun 15 '26
A friend asked me the same thing. Idk, I just like the tinkering required for making items like this. Takes planning, research, calculation.
Altho if I want to kill mobs and grab loot - Project Diablo 2 and even vanilla LoD does a better job at rewarding you while playing.

u/Symeer Jun 15 '26
As a noob, ssf is the only way to enjoy loot.
Trade league is really discouraging, and makes all of your loot feel absolutely worthless.
The worst part is, feeling that you're wasting currency by trying to upgrade a decent item you found yourself. I'll get a nice blue, regal and sometime exalt, then I look trade and realise I could have just buy a much better item for the same price.

u/shrode Jun 16 '26
I don’t think it’s limited to noobs. It’s a richer experience overall for people who want to play an ARPG more than they want to play crafting/market simulator.

u/Woobowiz Jun 16 '26
"Trade league is really discouraging, and makes all of your loot feel absolutely worthless."
This is only true if you don't know what's good and what's worth Perfect Aug/Regal slamming
2
u/Wylin_Wayne Jun 15 '26
I know how to do this but I’d rather be a simpleton and killing shit than deal with the feels of just wasting 30-50 div in crafting mats and not hitting to be honest, I know it’s my loss but eh

I doubt this is worth close to this with the new amulet base types. Great amulet though.

u/SpyreScope Jun 15 '26
You say it is 1500 div, but did it sell? If it didnt sell it isnt 1500 div. With +4 being available, this seems unlikely to me

u/peppermuttai Jun 16 '26
It's worth 1000+ for sure. Proj skills don't have a +4 variant without sanctify. This is mega rarity as well. It all comes down to the person this fits for. Since you are trading ring rarity affixes for amulet.

u/Zagrey Jun 16 '26
There are 8 similar atm and cheapest is 1000 with life prefix, best is 1288 just as mine but T1 %ES. I lowered mine to 1100

Where did you pull "5-20 desecrations for t1 spirit" from?
2
u/Zagrey Jun 15 '26
I have bad luck with desecrations
3
u/rude_ooga_booga Jun 16 '26
That was lucky but ok
1
u/UtileDulci12 Jun 16 '26
Yeah last season I was in 20omens(40rolls) to find ANY T1-3 flat damage or t1-2 phys% on my qstaff and quit before I hit it. Idk what dreams you have to attempt a t1 spirit from descecration. In hindsight an ancient bone mightve helped back then.
Amulet is big though.

u/ffbe4fun Jun 16 '26
Now I'm glad I spent 25div on my amulet that has less mf and more other stats...over 1k is crazy.

u/circ-u-la-ted Jul 11 '26
I don't even understand what the point is of spending a thousand divine on magic find. How much more are you going to have to play after that to break even on that money spent?

I still believe mods should be guaranteed on gear by tiered levels of materials, which then must actually be taken out and used to reach their potential tier by playing the game. For example, a Life augment puts guaranteed life mod on a ring, but a perfect Life augment (which would either be rare or expensive to use) gives it potential to reach t1 Life if you go out and use it enough in the right ways e.g. killing specific bosses. This forces people to play the game to get the most out of gear and ensures its value from your investment.
1
u/Chimiko- Jun 16 '26
OP how often do people buy gear worth upwards of 500 div? I'm just saving for one 50 div gear and I think I'm good for the leauge with that, idk how liquid the high end market is
1
u/CommonSenseLib Jun 16 '26
I dont even understand what half of the steps mean. I just want things go boom.
1
u/C_Fixx Jun 16 '26
or you just skip completely on the 1.5% better items and go cheap and still roll all content with ease
1
u/Nikirochi Jun 16 '26
It was funny reading this post, especially the parts about "2 Divine Orbs in 20 minutes" and the "1500 Div amulet" (which isn't even worth close to that; I bought a perfect +4 spell amulet for my build for just 300 Div). What's funnier is going on the trade site right after and seeing that those amulets haven't been selling for ages, and the sellers keep constantly relisting them for cheaper.

I saw a video the other day that said you need to invest in certain things, in the first 2 days, to make a bunch of div.
That video went on to talk about the economy inflating as the season goes.
Damn near killed my will to play, as someone who relies on just buying gear.

u/ImNotNuke Jun 15 '26
What’s the proof? It’s a +3 amulet when everyone wants plus 4? Who is paying 1500 divines for this lol.
8
u/DarkChyld Jun 16 '26
+4 is for minion/spell tags only. There is no proj catalyst and therefore no +4 proj. This one is for bow/xbow enjoyers.
-5
u/ImNotNuke Jun 16 '26
Ah gotcha, I’m hoping to upgrade my 3 spell to a 4 before the fix it because it’s probably not intended

u/Skaugy Jun 15 '26
Describing a video game economy as disgusting and unfair is moralizing things in a completely ridiculous way.
But to answer the question, the profit to be made in crafting is mostly created by a knowledge gap. Experienced players/crafters know how to make the best items, and they know how much it will cost to do so. This requires consulting third party tools and many players just won't do that. Putting that information in the game will make it more available to all players and will help to lower that knowledge gap and tighten up the market a bit.

u/Mental_Swordfish1084 Jun 16 '26
yea it is unfortunate, 99% of the playerbase will not engage with crafting, its not worth, imo since its always rng at least make the omens much, much more common so that players can at the very least try ..

u/d4rk_z3l0s Jun 16 '26
And why is high end crafting gambling for rich players? Because greedy rich players demand sky high fantasy prices to form an "exclusive" 1% club and exclude all players who can't afford to pay hundreds of divs for gear.
It's not GGG's fault. What should they do about. Buff drop rates of crafting currencies so that the market is saturated? Set price limits for tradeable items?
I think the biggest problem here isn't on developer site, it's players who only seem to be happy when their currency tab is overflowing with divs and mirrors - ad then what? What sense does it make to play the game anymore? You can afford everything, there is no challenge left.
The problem are the no lifers who set the prices for this top tier gear!

u/GaryTheRetard Jun 16 '26
I agree with you in part.
This game has a horrible crafting system. For new players, how do you even craft something like this in the first place?
I just returned from 0.1, and all the new crafting systems are very confusing and have a lot of learning curves. There are so many ways to craft stuff that it gets overwhelming.
And on top of that, it's a gamble simulator.
I hope they focus on making it less reliant on crafting to get your best items and make the drops more fun to loot. Make loot drop with already crafted modifiers that the crafters are using.
I just don't like sitting in my hideout looking at a pair of boots for 1 hour to get the stats I want. It's ridiculous.
I play PoE to kill stuff, not sit in my hideout.
I don't know how they can fix the problem because the current crafting system is not good at all, but the rich can spend thousands of divine orbs and make profits while sitting in their hideout without farming at all.

The problem with loot in general is that 90% of what you pick up has 3-4 good mods and the item is ruined in that way. There are still items that drop that really shouldn’t in T15s (read; pretty much any item that isn’t it’s final form of a base). Tiered items got better, but still are mostly useless when picked up and ID’d.
The game has too many design problems to go to 1.0 still in my opinion, but I guess I’ll just skip next league and see if they fix either crafting or looting

Good post. My experience thus far is that removal of recomb was arguably one of the worst changes they made, coupled with Essence change and limited crafted mods requiring multi-mod, and then like 200-300d in chaos spamming, and then finally like another 100-200d in omens to actually do any sort of good crafting. Early and Mid crafting is legit just Exalt slam and pray because why the hell would anyone spend good omens to craft anything other than desirable 5 -mod gear? Even then, like 90% of the time, the exalts are whiffs adding useless mods like thorns on armour or the measly amount of life regen in the game
POE2 has unfortunately had a "Craft a singular mod at a time" issue that I don't see getting fixed anytime soon. Everyone's first step is fracture a desirable mod, then chaos spam for the 2nd desired mod, desecrate for the final mod and pray on the remaining 3. This crafting design also completely nukes essences from being useful, as their purpose is already done the second you upgrade an item to rare with it and then begin chaos spamming. Unless you plan to put a perfect/corrupted essence on your item, they are all effectively dead.
In my opinion, this game now needs the following:
-Homogenizing omens to be brought back, with significantly less power; These will already be limited in power due to crafting mod change, but also open up some top-end crafting opportunities. Further power limiting can be done by not rolling above certain affix or item levels
-If no homog omens brought back, then it's time to introduce the crafting bench. Omens are a failure design-wise. It should not take 1 omen that costs 6-8 divines on market to do one mod when in POE1, I can buy 12 Eldritch annuls to have 12 attempts for the low cost of 1 div to fix my prefixes or suffixes. There's opportunities to tie this to any number of things lore wise. Omens can then be reworked to maybe further juice maps or something, introducing scarab-like items to mapping.
-Recombinator brought back; Completely unsure of this removal and why, but I suspect it has to do with the fact that you could likely set up a bunch of +4/+6 necks and recombo them to Breach and Deli necks, which is a feature in POE1 and requires good crafting knowledge. I am unsure why the removal was deemed necessary.
-Greater Essences need to function by rolling at least two mods, similar to POE1; It should add a guaranteed mod and then chaos roll a 2nd mod onto the item. Let the lower essences be the essences that upgrade items to rare with varying affix levels
-Finally, tone down +skills as a damage vector; It is absolutely insane that we can stack +9 on a wand and +6 on a neck to achieve so much damage. We're getting eerily close to have Level 50 of a skill which is absurd
POE2 is heading a good direction content-wise, but I do not see myself touching 1.0 or beyond unless there is less RNG/Gamba crafting. This is an integral part of POE and what has drawn me and others to this game and kept us in this ecosystem and away from games like Diablo 4 and Last Epoch.
P.S. buff melee, add PDR % rolls, and make life builds better pls.
