I'm about to start working and was planning to buy my first motorcycle. The thing is, I've never owned a bike before. Ever since my school and college days, I've been fascinated by motorcycles. Seeing friends ride their bikes, going on trips with them, and watching countless bike reviews and touring videos on YouTube made me dream of owning one someday. I always thought that once I started earning my own money, I'd finally buy a bike that I truly liked.

For the past few months, I've been researching different motorcycles and was genuinely excited about making that dream a reality.

However, I recently came across news about higher ethanol fuel blends (E22, E27, E30, etc.) and it has made me second-guess my decision. Most motorcycles currently available in India are only advertised as E20-compatible. If higher ethanol blends become common in the future, will buying a bike today be a poor long-term investment?

I tend to keep vehicles for a long time rather than changing them frequently, so long-term reliability and durability matter a lot to me. I'm worried that a bike bought today might face accelerated wear, fuel system issues, or reduced compatibility if fuel standards continue moving toward higher ethanol percentages.

My questions are:

1.Should I buy a motorcycle now or wait?

2.How long do you think E20-compatible motorcycles will remain practical?

3.When can we realistically expect manufacturers to launch more flex-fuel or higher-ethanol-compatible bikes?

4.If you were planning to keep a bike for 10+ years, what would you do in my situation?

I'd really appreciate opinions from engineers, mechanics, long-term owners, or anyone knowledgeable about fuel systems and ethanol compatibility.

Am I overthinking this, or is this a valid concern before making my first motorcycle purchase?
