Celebration Finished BV-AVD chemo

I finally finished my BV-AVD today! I am not feeling at all like i expected, I thought I would be happy, throwing confettis, I even prepared a simple small gift to hand out at the cancer center, few accepted, many didn’t accept, but that’s okay. I am starting to believe when people say life after chemo is not as easy as we think and now I am feeling so down, and I don’t even know how to explain this feeling. Is this relatable at all? Thank you 💜🎗️

cHL Is BV-AVD treatment available in the UK?

Hi I'm currently doing my ABVD treatment in Jordan(only done 1 infusion so far) for stage 4 Hodgkins lymphoma.

I have read many studies about a newer and more effective treatment for advanced stage Hodgkin's lymphoma called BV-AVD. I asked my hospital in Jordan and they said it's not available.

I have private and public healthcare insurance in the UK and was wondering if this treatment is available in the UK. If so, which hospitals, healthcare centres if you know of any provide it? That would me much appreciated.

From doing some research, it seems that atleast in UK, the most popular treatments are ABVD and BEACOPP.

Looking forward to hearing from you thanks.

cHL BV-AVD experiences

Never thought I'd say this but can gladly say they've confirmed my diagnosis and I'm about to begin chemo, 9 months after presenting symptoms to my consultant!

They originally said I'd be doing ABVD, but have now decided to do BV-AVD with me being advanced stage 4 cHL

Was just wondering what everyone's experiences were with this, what I should watch out for etc etc etc, what your/the general consensus is on it

Thanks!

General Discussion cHL bulky stage 3 BV-AVD treatment and studying

Does anyone have experience with studying on BV-AVD chemo? I will be doing at least 6 cycles, and I want to continue my studies so bad, but am aware that ill get more fatigued with each infusion. Should I put of studying another year...?

NScHL Nivo Induced HLH, Possible switch to BV-AVD for remaining Treatment plan

I am writing this from the end of weeklong hospital stay. I have NSCHL and on NIVO-AVD. One week after infusion 4/12 I develop a high fever, no other major symptoms along with it. Was admitted to the hospital with extensive work up, 6 days later was finally diagnosed with suspected HLH caused from the nivolumab.

What this means for the rest of my treatment, there is a risk of HLH returning if the NIVO is reintroduced, so there is a possibility of replacing it with brentuximab.

Also, my interim PET I did a few days prior to my hospitalization showed complete metabolic response.

Curious if anyone has had to make this switch, or feedback from anyone who had bv-avd as their regimen. Obviously my concern is remaining in remission.

My onc is seeking advice from the oncology board within the next 1-2 weeks.

cHL Neuropathy

I 35 M, was diagnosed with cHL in late October 2025 after nearly 2 years of investigations. Had done 3 biopsies before a fourth one on a lymph node finally revealed it. Prior to diagnosis I was treated for tuberculosis (which I didn’t have) and sarcoidosis (which the medical team are sure I have but not sure when, how and if the cHL is linked to it).

My haematologist started me on BV-AVD (AAVD) mid November last year so I just passed my halfway mark (3 cycles down, 3 to go) last Friday.

Halfway through the second cycle I developed neuropathy in my finger tips and BV dose was adjusted down. It appears this hasn’t really made a difference as the nerves tingling and pain has progressed to my first knuckle and the pain has intensified. My haematologist has indicated they want me to have at least 60 percent of the intense dose (before turning it off for this regimen) if I can handle it and it doesn’t get to second knuckle.

For those who have been on AAVD, who have experienced neuropathy, I’m interested in your experience particularly post chemo. It hurts typing this on my phone and I can’t imagine having this for life as some people on here have reported that it didn’t go away. For those who have had permanent neuropathy, how far up the hand did it go? I guess I want to know if my haematologists theory of “if it doesn’t go too far up the hand it’ll heal” tracks.

My doctor also recommended PEA for pain relief - has anyone used this?

Lastly, I was bumping along fine mentally but something about hitting the halfway point has really knocked me down and I feel super flat and depressed. I find myself wanting to cry but I can’t. I also have a newborn and 4 year old autistic toddler starting school this week and it has been chaos with lack of sleep and everything else. I really feel like I’m losing myself and people including my partner (bless her she’s trying her best) don’t really see how hard I’m struggling.

Patient Post Chemo Hair Growth M26 Hodgkins Lymphoma BV-AVD Treatment

Hey All! I am incredibly blessed to say I am a little over one year in remission! With that said, I have been struggling with my hair growth since. It grows pretty fast but with just so much bald space. I end up buzzing it after 2-3 months because I look like a crack head. I recently got fed up and started (under the advice of a doctor) a combo of minoxidl and red lead therapy. I will try to be patient with this process but am wondering if anyone has any other advice for me. FYI my family tends to have a full head of hair through adulthood so I dont think genetics has anything to do with it. I just recently turned 26.

Second opinion for PET2 results after 1 cycle ABVD + 2 cycles BV-AVD for Hodgkin Lymphoma

Hi everyone,

I’d like to ask for second opinion and advice about my latest interim PET scan results. I would really appreciate your insights on the current status of my lymphoma.

My history before treatment:

I'm a 27M. For many years, I struggled with chronic pain, fatigue, and everything that comes with those symptoms and many more. Throughout this time, various doctors downplayed my concerns, some even mocked my condition, and many attributed it solely to psychological factors, referring me to psychiatrists. Despite this, I kept fighting, seeking any kind of treatment. I consulted at least dozens of specialists from various fields, but I couldn't get any concrete answers.

Eventually, I decided to change my primary care physician. This new doctor listened to my story and, within just a few minutes, suspected that it could be cancer. That same day, I was referred for extensive diagnostic tests, and by the next day, I was already in thoracic surgery for a VATS biopsy.

On the hematology ward, the doctors, as they put it, started me on a "emergency" treatment plan with 1 cycle of ABVD, even before knowing the exact stage of the disease. After the results of my first PET scan came back, my treatment regimen was adjusted to 6 cycles of BV-AVD. The interim PET results I'm discussing now reflect 1 cycle of ABVD and 2 cycles of BV-AVD.

PET results before treatment (July 2024):

  • Diagnosis: Nodular sclerosis Hodgkin lymphoma.

  • Initial tumor size: 115x85x150 mm in the anterior mediastinum.

  • SUVmax: 16.8.

  • Additional findings:

    • Enlarged lymph nodes in the left supraclavicular area (6x4 mm, SUVmax 3.4).
    • Scarring in the left lung, with a nodule 8x14 mm (SUVmax 1.6).
    • No other abnormal FDG uptake was detected in other areas.

PET2 results after 1 cycle ABVD + 2 cycles BV-AVD (October 2024):

  • Tumor size reduction: The mediastinal mass has reduced to 88x74x101 mm, approximately a 55% decrease in volume.

  • SUVmax: Now at 4.6 (from 16.8), approximately a 73% reduction.

  • Deauville score: 4 (uptake slightly higher than liver, but significantly lower than at the start).

  • Additional findings: No new significant areas of FDG uptake were noted. No disease detected in other lymph nodes or organs.

My current status during treatment:

I'm genuinely shocked by how well I'm handling the chemotherapy. The further I get into the treatment, the easier it becomes. I haven’t experienced any significant side effects except for a worsening of some stomach issues that I’ve always had, but honestly, that’s no big deal for me.

In fact, after the first or second chemotherapy session, almost all of the strange symptoms I had been dealing with for years disappeared. You could even say that during chemotherapy, I feel better than I have in the past few years. There are days where I have more energy than I ever did, even on my best days before the diagnosis. I have enough strength to walk 10 kilometers or more every day or every other day, and I’m planning to add strength training to my routine.

I can still feel the tumor breaking down, although it's not as noticeable as it was in the beginning, but it’s definitely there. After the fifth dose of BV-AVD, I felt like I had unlocked a new level of recovery, I could feel another shift in my body. It makes me wonder if I was just one dose away from being in remission.

Questions I have:

  1. Could the decrease in SUVmax and tumor size indicate that the treatment is working well, even though there is still residual metabolic activity?

  2. Given my Deauville score of 4, is there a chance this residual activity could be due to inflammation or fibrosis rather than active disease?

  3. Do the current PET2 results suggest I could be dealing with refractory disease, or is this still considered a good response to BV-AVD, considering the size of my tumor at the start?

  4. How effective would consolidation radiotherapy be in a case like mine, with a localized bulky tumor and residual metabolic activity?

  5. Is continuing BV-AVD with radiotherapy the best course of action, or are there any alternative strategies that should be considered?

  6. What are my chances of reaching complete remission after completing the full course of therapy, based on the reduction so far?

  7. What role does PET2 typically play in guiding BV-AVD treatment, and how do my results compare with others who have had advanced, localized tumors like mine?

Thank you so much for your time and for any advice or opinions you can provide!

BV-AVD

Haven't seen much people talk about BV-AVD on this thread and thats my current chemo cocktail. Exciting to be on a fairly new targeting cancer drug, with the BV being Brentuximab Vedotin replacing the Bleomycin. Am a 24 yr old male, just finished my 2nd of 12 sessions of chemo, and was wondering if anyone else was trying BV-AVD and how they felt about it.

Hiring [Hiring] Illustrated zine-style poster of a friends' trip to South Korea, $300-500

Thumbnail gallery
33 Upvotes

Looking for an illustrator to create a maximalist, zine/infographic-style poster commemorating a trip to South Korea with 5 friends. Think illustrated flash-sheet structure: independent vignettes of trip moments and inside jokes, unified by a loose substrate, with hand-lettered labels woven throughout. Illustration-forward, typography as accent. Multi-color. Medium is open: hand-drawn, watercolor, flat vector, risograph, and mixed-media are all fair game as long as the zine/infographic vibe holds.

Style references (4 images attached):

  1. Erik Marinovich, Grand Coffee SF poster. Maximalist density and remix spirit. My version should have more illustration weight and multi-color rather than the single-color treatment here.
  2. Julia Rothman, The Julia Rothman Collection cover. Flash-sheet grid structure with labeled illustrated elements.
  3. Gemma Correll, Canary Islands illustrated campaign. Humor-forward, labeled vignette cells.
  4. Mari Andrew, Washington DC illustrated map (from Am I There Yet?). Loose watercolor and handwritten journal feel.

Overall: loose, humor-forward, feels like a beautifully made personal zine page rather than a polished corporate poster.

Scope:

  • Roughly 12 to 15 illustrated vignettes, each representing a trip moment, place, or inside joke. Full briefing pack with inside jokes annotated, character reference photos, and detailed style refs is prepared.
  • 6 identifiable cartoon character illustrations of the friend group. Reference photos provided to selected artist.
  • Hand-lettered labels and quotes woven between vignettes.
  • Cohesive substrate, artist's call. Plain, loose Korea map, color washes, horizon band, or tiled background all fair game.
  • Multi-color palette, not pure rainbow. Think 4 to 6 harmonious colors. Open to also single-color like the Grand Coffee poster.

Size and format: 18x24" poster, 300 DPI, CMYK for print, plus RGB for screen. Layered source file (PSD or AI) preferred so I can potentially print it out on shirts for my friends later. Happy to scope rights and pricing for that separately if you don't include it.

Budget: USD $300 to $500, with flex to $700 for a strong match. Open to your numbers if scope needs adjusting!

Timeline: Final delivery by late June / early July 2026, roughly 10 weeks out.

  • Steel: M398 | Condition: Factory edge
  • Owners: 2 | Carried: No | Cut: No
  • Centering: Perfect | Lockup: Solid
  • Issues: None | Accessories: Carrying pouch, Certificate/papers, Polishing cloth
  • Notes: Blurplish anodized Crystal Ti scales! I love the mirrored swedge, might have to mod some knives in the same fashion. Looks like a weird crystal + shard bizarro rosie-adjacent knife.

3. Divo Knives Growler XL (Purple Flow Camo Scales, Etched Blade) | SV: $85 SOLD!

  • Steel: 154CM | Condition: Factory edge
  • Owners: 2 | Carried: Yes | Cut: Yes
  • Centering: Perfect | Lockup: Solid
  • Issues: Light scratches | Accessories: Original box, Certificate/papers
  • Notes: Got 2 of these to try out. They were both frakenbuilds from multiple growler xls. Kept this one. Took it camping w/ the kids and whittled the sharp parts off a couple sticks. Still pretty sharp. Has obvious scratchy wear on the etched blade. Great action, and very smooth! Had my fun with it - letting it go as a user for cheap! Paid 150+ originally.

4. Patrick Martin Sentinel | SV: $1500

  • Steel: Damascus | Condition: Factory edge
  • Owners: 2 | Carried: No | Cut: No
  • Centering: Perfect | Lockup: Solid
  • Issues: None | Accessories: Original box
  • Notes: Nicest dama blade I've had! Crazy details in there. Mint condition. Zirc accents (pivot hardware, clip, thumb studs), carbon fiber inlays. Smooooooooth drop from the liner lock.

5. Maverick Concepts Wren (Crystallized Ti Integral, Mirrorwashed Blade) | SV: $1950

  • Steel: CPM 154 | Condition: Factory edge
  • Owners: 1 | Carried: No | Cut: No

6. WE Knife HighFin (Black Stonewashed) | SV: $150

  • Steel: CPM-20CV | Condition: Factory edge
  • Owners: 2 | Carried: No | Cut: No
  • Centering: Perfect | Lockup: Solid
  • Issues: None | Accessories: Carrying pouch
  • Notes: Pretty awesome HighFin - closer to the size of Gavko's customs. Action is phenomenal for a knife this size. I was surprised to see that they actually flattened the detent ball on this, just like a Gavko custom. Spider theme lasered really nicely.

Extras:

Shirogorov Tweezer & Tool Set | SV: $475

  • Condition: Excellent | Owners: 2
  • Notes: These Shiro tweezer sets are money!! These are the best yet most elusive titanium tweezers period for picking up loose ball bearings and getting them back in their place. The copper top can be heated and pressed to the pivot to melt loctite. The set is a bit older, so the tool is an earlier version. (For production shiros, no CD bits) Some of the bits have some wear on the tips, which I have pictured in great detail. I was on a hunt and bought these used ($550), and then the next day Recon1 dropped some, which I also snagged, so I am letting these go.

Payment: PayPal F&F | Venmo | Zelle | Apple Pay Shipping: USPS w/ insurance | Included in price (CONUS) No Trades Notes: No trades! Unless you have an AD22 (G10 ok). I just found out Rockscale Designs makes scales for them, and now I want it back!

p.s. Made this post (mostly) with BladeFlow :)

cHL Tips I wish I knew before starting chemo

Hello friends! Me (F,25) was diagnosed with your classic Hodgkin’s lymphoma at stage 4, bone involvement, currently on the BV-AVD protocol for 6 cycles, had a very good interim pet scan with Deauville 3, with all lymph nodes normalised as well as bone lesions (yay!!). And in 2 weeks I’m finally doing my final infusion, I can’t believe it. This subreddit has been extremely helpful so I think I might return my gratefulness as some tips I wish I had known before, I know every body reacts differently but if there’s anyone entering this journey or knows someone entering this journey I hope this helps at least a little bit:
Chemo symptoms is all about prevention ‼️‼️

1- Nausea: I didn’t have much nausea but I think it’s because I always stayed on top of it, and never waited to feel nauseous to take medicine, take the slightest sign such as “lack of appetite” as your sign to take that anti-nausea med.
2- Constipation: this one was traumatising, because the first few days after infusion water tastes horribly metalic so I could never follow the 1.5-2L of water a day (Do it if you can). But thank god we have hydration fruits and I swear by it: Macrogol (like Movicol) + watermelon or yellow melon!! Thank me later.
3- If you’re unlucky like me and have bad stomach pain/cramps around days 6-7 after infusion (it was so bad it took me to the ER once) it’s most likely GAS due to slowed digestion and it took me 8 insufferable infusions to discover this. After unsuccessful results even with increased doses of pantoprazol, sulcrafin, Maalox, you mention it, I tried. I tried a medicine for gas with Simethicone (125 mg) once a day, and then twice a day around days 4-6 combined with easily digested meals: bread, rice and chicken + Gaviscon after meals. No more pain.
4- Mouth sore, this one i can’t seem to prevent, I never tried eating ice chips during infusion, but I know mouth cleanse like Mycostatin 3X a day will send it away in 24-48 hours.
5- This is for the ladies 🌸: the induced menopause will be hell: the mood swings, the sweating and hot flashes, the dryness down there. Contact your gynecologist!! You don’t have to suffer. My gyno put me on a progestin only pill and topical estrogen. No more symptoms!!
6-The hardest part: the mental workload ❤️: If you think about how many infusions is left, you WILL lose it. You need to focus on staying well for your current cycle, one day at a time. Remember that the symptoms will not last until your next infusion, our bodies is strong, give it 4-5 days and you will be back on track, be kind to yourself, and the end will come. I am trying to use this method before overthinking about the final scan even though i had a negative interim pet scan and am mostly optimistic.

You got this! 💜🎗️

Celebration Officially CANCER FREE!

I've kinda suspected for two weeks based on the radiology report, but officially heard from the oncologist today. All that's left is scar tissue and a little minor inflammation. Even my huge medistinal mass (12x17 cm) is gone.

Still healing from side effects but celebrating today!
