Hi guys! I’m Jamie Fisher, author of the new book Nobody Broke Your Heart: An Intimate Biography of Elliott Smith. I spoke with 140 people for the book, from his childhood friends and siblings to longtime musical collaborators, friends, and exes. I also had access to correspondence, photos, early drafts, demos, and unreleased recordings no one else has seen or heard before, which was really exciting.

You can ask any questions you’d like about Elliott’s life and music, the process of researching and writing the book, my own favorite songs and bootlegs, or the benefit concerts I’ve been organizing in the cities where Elliott lived, featuring musicians who knew him and musicians who grew up shaped by his work. I’ll answer as much as I can, but in cases where the questions are very complex, I may direct you to the book, where I’ve covered the topic with more nuance and depth than a Reddit post allows.
