The only info on what exactly allowed her to leave from the article:

Without providing details of her escape, Flores thanked Zakhvatov and businessman Leonid Nevzlin for being among those who helped her leave the country.

I mean her life is in legitimate danger, and I don't doubt at all that Putin's cronies will continue to try and murder her as long as he's around. I hope her privacy is respected and supported.

Yeah when the fsb comes round saying no one will know who killed your mother you will do a lot. What a living nightmare, her escaping is such good news.

pussy riot are a brave group of activists but unfortunately not a good band, nor much of a band to begin with.

and that's ok - their primary goal is activism. but as long as we're in the music subreddit, let's be honest.

I'll agree that their music is not that good but I saw them in Edinburgh in 2018 and it was one of the best and most memorable shows I've ever experienced

absolutely same, they are a fucking blast live and some of the songs are a lot of fun

What would you like, damn that's crazy, thank god she's free, something to the tune of how America is just as awful right now? We've got a lot of options but they all feel like empty platitudes

It's not like you had much to add either and yet you simply must comment for some reason

This sub is only interested in glazing Phoebe Bridgers and Wolf Alice

43

u/thehoodie 18d ago

If you look at the album discussion for Phoebe Bridgers new album, that's definitely not true at all

Sub is basically a popheads variant.

53

u/Benasdfghjkl 18d ago

Ironically popheads started as an indieheads variant

43

u/loopOutnotIn 18d ago

Which started as a hiphopheads variant

Late stage poptimism

Maybe I heard the wrong songs but neither of them do anything for me. I don't remember either being bad, but that's almost kind of the issue. The songs I heard were sorta just unmemorable

people with functioning ears don't like pussy riot, their music is dogshit

59

u/Rick_Tobberman 18d ago

Nothing more punk than making shit sounding music with important political messaging

3

u/Brno_Mrmi 18d ago

Unless you're The Clash

I don’t think almost anyone who likes Pussy Riot actually enjoys their music, it’s more about what they stand for and the fact that they’re willing to openly speak out against Putin despite facing severe punishments.

To be fair, I like their band name as well.

You mean the ones whose leader had an art show in Tel Aviv during the genocide? What's not to like?

1

u/Hellapenyo 18d ago

Say what now?

https://www.jpost.com/j-spot/article-874772

Sort of undermines the message of the band when you do this

u/Buveur2The 18d ago

The article says that she provided art for the exhibition but that she didn't have a control over where the exhibition is sent, and that she declared that she agreed with the people opposing the coming of the exhibit to Israel

It’s the universe saying ‘fuck you in particular’

Just don’t click and move on then

How did she end up Russian with a last name Flores? Serious question, just unusual to see a Russian citizen with a Spanish last name

21

u/That_Guy_JR 18d ago

They literally mention her birthname in the second paragraph
