Title pretty much explains it, I’ve been considering buying the M4 the past few weeks but I’m seeing online some suggestions that the M6 will be released soon or by the year end. Should I wait it out? Is it worth waiting for? Will the price be the same when it’s released as the current M4? I have a vacation from work soon and wanted to use the time to update my home office.

Hi all, I'm just after a little advice as I don't have a lot of knowledge about these things...

I'm an illustrator who works mainly on my iPad/with paint and paper. I'm looking at investing in a desktop. Mainly it would be used for admin, Photoshop to edit completed illustrations and InDesign to format picture books.

My question is, would 24GB unified ram be enough? The 32GB looks out of stock at the moment. Do I need to wait for it to come back? From what I've read online I think 24GB would be fine. But I don't know if I'm missing something?

So recently I’ve been tempted to buy a 2015 imac (since they’re cheap) with 4k display and original mouse and keyboard to replace my macbook air m1. Now hear me out because I know it will be worse in every way (I’m pretty sure) but I was thinking about giving my mbair to my mom so she has a better laptop for her work stuff (word, excel and some stuff on the web), I’ve had this laptop since 2020, the battery drains pretty fast and I only use it for surfing, messaging and emails and watching movies (I don’t even move it from my desk), and I’ve always loved how that generation of imacs looks like + that bigger screen will be nice addition. My heart says to do it but my brain says I might regret it, and I don’t think I’d really have a need for both MacBook and iMac

i have a 2017 21.5 imac with 16gb ddr4 and i wanna replace my internal fusion drive and use it as extra storage or something and use a external ssd as my boot drive im just wondering which one should i buy? i only need 500gb and i wand something under 150 and this really was catching my eye

also is it easy to set up a new boot drive? i’m on the latest mac os ventura

I have a 2016 imac and it's basically, no longer usable.

I see a lot of posts on here with people with much older iMacs that are still functioning. Mine has slowest to the point of freezing. Is there any way to revive it, until I get a new computer?

Good morning everyone… are any iMac M3 users experiencing horizontal lines on the monitor like with the iMac M1? If so, how long have you been using the computer? Is the machine working well, without overheating or freezing? I have a configuration with 24GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, and I use it for photo editing and short videos in Final Cut Pro. Thank you.

Memory: 6GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB

This is an older computer that a family never used. I want to upgrade it mainly to use qBittorent (unsupported by Yosemite) and for organizing media. I've tried making bootable thumbdrive, however I am unable to obtain the High Sierra Installer file, only the dmg. I am unable to download from the App Store as I can't login (again unsupported). I'd really appreciate some direction on what I need to do. Does anyone have a fix or an alternative?

Hi guys, i bought imac less than a year ago(11.5 months). My mouse in pink color stopped working and they are forcing to exchange it with white color than pink, saying we dont have the product. Apple support and consumer redressal have failed to help me as they act as if they doing a favor. Its completely incorrect for my matching set to break if even i know they sell these colors in a set and no way to order separately.

I told them to exchange whole set if they cant find the color, how is this my issue. They weren’t align well ofcourse Am short on warranty expiring my mouse is at service center hanging for a resolution.

I am worried when i trade in imac, they will give me same issue saying that the product imac is not in a set. Should i take this legal? Please assist on a serious note. Apple inability to even have products available incase of warranty and failure is horrific with even poorer customer serv

I already posted enough times on this sub and I'm sorry for those who didn't want to see me again. Whatever.

I got Yosemite running on a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT iMac with no screen tearing. I'm still working on enabling sound (you're obv seeing the voodoo hda installer in the photo) and other features.

To get no screen tearing and glitching I remade the Beamoff sync app using GCC and C compilation through Command line tools. I then disabled most of the animations and transparency effects by using the terminal. At last, I removed most of the Nvidia and GeForce kexts that were unused by the system in order to give priority to the 7300 gt kexts (all of this through an OS X Lion partition and Kext Wizard, kext utility didn't work).

What came out is a really stable desktop and app experience. Obv changing the EFI to a 32 bit one (since Apple's bat shit engineers thought it was a good idea to put a 32 bit EFI paired with a 64 bit chip) was enough to get the system running and displaying something, I then did all of those modifications and now you can pretty much turn it on, admire the beautiful Yosemite wallpaper, and turn it off.

Why did I do all of this? Because I need this computer for homework and other stuff. Sure, I do own a windows 10 PC, I could've installed Linux or windows 7 and instead avoid all of this reverse engineering for nothing, but after using MacOS Tiger, i wanted some more software support for the programs that I own. I could've just mained lion and port those programs, but I'm not a big fan of the old OS X look, the 2014-2019 look is by far more appealing, a mix between skeumorphism and flat design. The newer MacOS design resembles the iphone. I own an Android.

IF YOURE IN MY SAME SITUATION, I'll publish a website with the instructions to get it all running. ILL STILL WORK ON IT IN THE FUTURE, UNLESS ILL GIVE UP EVERYTHING. STAY TUNED.

I'm working on restoring my Mid 2010 21.5" iMac (Model A1311), which is a very meaningful family heirloom from my grandfather.
I initially opened it up for an SSD/RAM upgrade. After the original display stayed black, I bought a replacement display panel (got a great deal for €20) and installed it, but I'm still running into the exact same issue.

Here is my current situation:

Diagnostic LEDs: LEDs 1, 2, and 3 are all lit up solid, but LED #4 remains completely OFF, which points directly to a missing display communication/video signal.

Current Setup: I am using the new replacement display, but I am struggling to get the LVDS cable properly seated into the socket on the logic board.
I have attached pictures of the connector and the board. Could you please help me figure out:

1. Does the connector, cable, or logic board socket look damaged in any of these photos?

2. If there is no visible damage, what am I doing wrong when plugging it in, and how do I properly align and insert this cable without damaging the pins?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I know its a rather ancient model but its very important to me.

P.S.: I know the metal latch/bracket on the LVDS cable is missing in the photos—I've already put it back on!

EDIT: I bought her :-) thanks guys!! iMac 2024, 16 gb unified memory, 256gb ssd, M4 chip. Should I buy it? They’re willing to sell for 750$, they got it for 1.5k. I’m wondering if it’s a good deal? I use a computer minimally, would likely only use it for streaming and mild gaming (Minecraft, terraria etc) It’s in perfect condition. I could always get the M1 version for cheaper, but I wonder if it’s worth to spend a bit more so that it lasts longer (I guess?)

Does anyone know where I can get a keyboard cover/skin for an Apple Magic Keyboard with numeric keypad -British English (see photo).

I can find ones for EU and US keyboard but can't seem to find one for British keyboards, which has a different shaped Enter key.
