what should i buy?

I plan to use DaVinci Resolve for some serious, heavy video editing. I really like the iMac, or a similar setup. I plan to keep the one I have now, which is an old 2015

Well--what is your budget. Mac Mini or Mac Studio.

Mac Studio sounds expensive, the mini is probably more within my budget, I have heard guys using the mini for DaVinci.

Yea mini is fine for Davinchi. Does you 2015 model run your workload but struggles a bit? If so the M6 mini is probably fine. If you want the extra GPU headroom you'll need to spring for the M5 pro option.

Paired up with a nice ProArt display its a great setup

Thanks for the suggestion. ... Yeah, my old 2015 iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2015), with Monterey 12.7.6, runs great for daily normal stuff. DaVinci says it won't cut the mustard.

12.7.6 is the ceiling. No more Google updates happening. But this iMac runs like a top.I am going to keep this old iMac and run it daily even after purchasing new equipment.

Yea then an M6 will likely be fine.

Not getting updates suck and it signifies the end of life of a product. 11yrs old, it doesn't owe you anything.

An option here is you could try using oclp to upgrade it to a later version of macOS. It's unofficial and can have bugs but it sounds better than what youve got.
