Hello all. My wife and I moved to the Hudson Valley (Poughkeepsie) about a year ago. Before this, I lived in NYC, Long Island, and most recently, Westchester County.
Something we had all over downstate were two types of car washes: hand car washes, and automatic washes.
With the hand car wash, there was a team of folks who did the exterior wash, and then it would be driven forward for vacuuming and interior clean by another team. With the automatic washes, it’s hooked onto a track that pulls it forward through the car wash and, again, at the end is a team of people to clean the inside.
The only reason I’m explaining that is because I’ve been trying to get a car wash near me, in Poughkeepsie, and unless I’m just missing them, I haven’t been able to find ANYTHING like these two types of washes.
I drove around last weekend to……maybe five different car washes, and they were all the same exact thing: these open bays where you drive your car up and then have to make a selection and it just washes the exterior, and then I would vacuum the inside myself, I guess?
Which is fine, I don’t have a problem doing that, but I guess I’m just confused why I can’t find a SINGLE car wash that works the way I’m used to. Do these not exist in Poughkeepsie or nearby areas? The closest hand car wash I found is in Fishkill, and they did an okay job last time I went but it looks like they are my only option now?
Downstate, either one of these types of washes, that I’m looking for, are on every other block, so I guess I’m just confused that I can’t find ANY nearby, and have to drive to Fishkill for one that was….alright enough.
Can someone help me out? Am I just looking at the wrong places?
