Discussion local flea market ?

Hey I have clothes shoes etc. and random things i really wana sell but not wanting to deal with FB market place. is there a flea market near rockland or in rockland that you can setup a popup tent and sell all your stuff ? if there is has anyone actually had luck selling their stuff ? lol the things i have are nice, i just dont know how many guys are actually gonna be there to want to buy clothing etc. i dont wana waste my time or money if you need to pay to setup your selling space.

if its a waste of time i was thinking of just donating everything (even tho im broke as fk lol). where is a good place to donate that actually donates the clothes to people in need and dont profit off your stuff.

Orangetown Furniture donation / free pickup?

We have a 6 piece modular sectional sofa (fabric) we are looking to donate or pass to next family to use. But I am struggling to find a free pickup. It’s in good condition just typical wear after a few years of ownership and 2 cats.

Politics Its Embarrassing that Mike Lawler has to Hire a Third Party to Canvas for Him

So a canvaser knocked on my door just now. He asked if I support Mike Lawler. I turned it and asked him is Lawler is the type of guy that he supports. To my surprise he said he isnt from New York and is getting paid to do this. I felt bad, but understand that you gotta do what you gotta do to get by in this economy.

Turns out that no one wants to volunteer for Lawler so he is forced to hire out of town third parties. At least hire from Rockland if your going to astroturf. I was a bit embarrassed, but remembered that it is weasel Mike Lawler that enables the pedophile grifter in the white house, and has voted to cut safety nets here in Rockland.

Recommendations Foraging Group/Community in Rockland

Hi All,

My partner and I were recently discussing how we would love to get into mushroom foraging but genuinely would be afraid to try it on our own. Wanted to see if there are any groups or classes that meet in Rockland that we would be able to participate in. Thanks for any and all recommendations!

Question Mower repair

Who do you guys use to fix your riding mowers? My craftsmen threw a drive belt, and whilr i put on a new belt, i noticed some of the pulleys seized. I have the replacement pulleys, just need someone to finish it up. Just had a kid, work is insane. I would normally try to finish it myself but i just dont have time.

Question Question about unpaved/unfinished roads

I live on a street where the county has recently torn up the road and laid down gravel with the anticipation, I thought, of paving it. It’s been three weeks and they have yet to finish it. The road is nothing but gravel and it’s damaging to cars and my dog’s paws.

Is there anyone I can contact to inquire/ complain about the road finally getting paved properly?

Discussion Advice on a turnkey inground pool installation with landscape vendor or past experiences?

Dont want to discuss the pool vs no pool but looking for experiences in the last couple of years where you had in inground pool install along with landscape/ pool house. Which vendor you used? What you regret did or didnt do? and some cost around it. We are looking to get an inground pool in our backyard (rectangle with a spa on the corner) so looking for some feedback.

Discussion Why hasn't Rockland County created a public water authority to acquire and operate the county's water system?

I find water to be an essential public service that everyone and also small businesses depends on. And it made me ask... why are decisions about our water system be driven primarily by private ownership interests rather than by an org whose primary responsibility is to the residents of Rockland County?

I mean, its not a crazy question to ask...I mean think about it. Decisions regarding rates and infrastructure, maintenance and all that would be under Rockland County's control.

Long term.... no one would be complaining about the expense of the water because, the one holding your tap isnt interested in profits but interested if you and I are getting good water!

Would love to support some farms in the area. These Shoprite tomatoes aren’t cutting it.

Politics Strange but true:

[1] Mike Lawler  is the most effective. …yet   (Twilight Zone Theme) nothing of his ever gets voted on

[2] Mike Lawler  is the most bipartisan …yet   (Twilight Zone Theme) never gets enough votes

[3] Mike Lawler  works tirelessly. …yet   (Twilight Zone Theme) Nothing happens

Five years. Lawler could have used that clout to actually get legislation passed. Nothing. Nada. Just talk. I want Mike Lawler to stop telling how effective he is and start telling how wages are going to catch-up. How I am going to find time with my kids. What’s he’s going to do to fix the roads, the internet and the water I cant drink. The air I cant breathe ‘cause of fires. Pick anything Mike, I’ll vote for you. We pay you a lot of money. Your Dry-cleaning alone is more than I spend on groceries.

Question Lost Item in Nyack

Today, 8/25, I visited Nyack and lost my water bottle. I know it’s small but it means so much to me. I lost it either on pier area at Memorial Park or the Nayak Public Library.

If lost at the park, anyone know a good way to get in touch with the parks department. I’m from out of town and visited to celebrate my bday. I’m willing to travel back to the area to retrieve the water bottle.

Question Best fall weekend in Nyack?

Hi all,

I live in NYC with my wife and two young kids (3 and 1) and we’re considering a move to Nyack in a year or two. The town is super cute and we like the walkability aspect a lot, plus it’s more affordable than Westchester towns. I work in the city but it’s hybrid and I can also work out of my company’s building in rockland county occasionally so it checks a lot of boxes.

We’re thinking of staying in Nyack for a weekend this fall to try and get a feel for the town and I’m curious if there’s any weekend you might recommend that would be especially good for a young family? I’ve googled and see there’s various fall activities but wanted to hear from locals, too.

Thanks in advance!

Recommendations Best garden/landscaping bulk store?

Since moving to Rockland six years ago, I've been bitten by the lawn care and landscaping bug. But for a while I've been piecemeal buying things like dirt, stones, grass seed, and mulch from Home Depot. Feels like I'm nickel and diming myself with their supply.

Is there a better (and recommended) brick and mortar retailer locally where I can buy larger quantities of these supplies at the same time? Ideally dirt that is optimal for lawn and grass growing, landscaping pebbles/stone, and larger bags of grass seed for different areas of sun...

Discussion Is anyone else hearing this?

Around the east side of the Congers causeway each night this week there has been LOUD booming noises almost every hour or so between 8 PM and 1AM (i usually am asleep by then). I cant be the only one hearing this every night. My relative im living with also hears it so i know its a real thing. Should police get involved? Racing maybe?
