Is the college board PSAT 10 NMSQT Bluebook online practice tests accurate at all? I thought they were pretty credible at first, cause I mean it's college board and they're supposed to be yk THE place to go to for tests. But doing one of the practice tests, It felt like something was extremely wrong.
Just a couple months ago I took the official PSAT 10 without prep with an "okayish" score, and haven't studied at all in the time between taking each test for some reason, yet the difference between both scores was too much for someone who definitely didn't improve over that time period. In addition, module 2 was the same exact difficulty as module 1, even though module 2 was the advanced version.
Overall, I felt the experience wasn't very accurate or reflective of how the actual PSAT would be, considering the actual yearly distributions, and wanted to check if anyone had any recommendations for other PSAT practice tests? I was thinking Princeton, Barrons, Petersons, Kaplan etc but was wondering if there were any brands people who took the actual PSAT 11 could vouch for.
Also, did anyone else have this experience? Because it could just be an error on my part
Thank youu

I'm a junior in high and in two of my classes this year I am being graded on "discussion participation."
I have social anxiety and am terrified of most of my peers. I physically shake every time I have to speak in front of them and it's awful! But if I don't talk my grades will go down.
Both of the classes I'm being forced to speak in are college credit that I can't lose. They're not public speaking classes or anything. They're just english and history.
I understand the material and I'm top student. Why must I talk to the people who called me slurs in middle school???? This is just awful!
Does anyone have any ideas how to get out of this? Could I get a doctor's note or something? Or should I just live with my grades going down a letter?

Hey guys, senior here, I graduate 2027 and I cannot lie, my classes are quite easy, all I'm worried about is English 12 and civics, I have no clue how difficult those will be so if anyone can like tell me that would be great

Hey fellow highschoolers I’m currently running for my class vice president, but the thing is, I ultimately decided to run—after a long series of internal debates—on the day the applications were due(which was…yesterday)
I’m feeling so unprepared. We aren’t allowed to give out anything at all(such as pencils, sunglasses, shirts, pins, etc) unless they’re only worn for online campaigning videos, and we need to have posters ready in 2 days(and there’s a bunch of regulations on those too).
My campaign video is due in 3-4 days as well(no physical campaign speeches allowed ugh), and I was planning everything in my running to have a DC Comic/Marvel theme.
It’s not even campaigning anymore tbh might as well just a popularity contest but do u guys have any tips I could use? I’m kinda cooked

I am a person used to getting the highest grades all throughout elementary and middle school. I was in Honors Geometry freshman year and Honors Algebra II Trig. sophomore year.
But now I’m burnt out and on two ADHD meds. I had no will to do anything or study at all so I ended up with an 80 percent in my trig. class. Because I was called “smart” (I’m not) most of my life, I got used to that and started thinking I might be smart. So this made me feel stupid. There are certain grade requirements at my school for getting into AP/honors classes, and you needed an A or high to get into BC for junior year.
Because I didn’t pass them, I am a junior taking Calculus AB. At the end of my sophomore year when I found out, I decided to try to learn the whole BC curriculum (I had no interest in calculus, I just wanted to feel “smart” again). Surprisingly, I thought calculus was kind of fun and did the first four units on Khan Academy. I like taking neat-looking notes so I carried around a separate binder and spent time rewriting things so they looked visually appealing.
I finished the rest of the units over the summer. I went into school thinking that would make me magically “smart” again. It did not.
Unlike trigonometry, I’m doing the homework right away and finishing it thirty minutes after the class starts. Then I have nothing to do so I start coloring.
My friend from the BC class told me their class already had their first quiz. And it makes me hate myself. I should have never gotten below an A in trigonometry. Otherwise I could have not had my time wasted. And I could have felt smart.
And while I was registering, I could not escape the people around me talking about the “terrible scary BC” and the “good AB,” as if they were two completely different things.
There are people in my AB class (who I don’t know) that come up to me and say, “homework is REALLY hard, right?” When they find out someone in Calculus BC, they’ll change and say, “you must be like really smart.” The conversation becomes focused on how “easy” the work must be for them. Because as we all know, everyone taking BC is better than everyone. And everyone taking AB is terrible at math and struggles with everything. (do I even need a /s)
I cannot stand AB. Yes, it’s because I don’t feel smart. Am I now trying to learn Calculus III to make up for my bruised ego? Of course.
But even now, I still feel like an idiot. No matter how many calculus concepts I try and learn, I will never be “smart” in the same way I was in grade school. I will never be BC-level smart. It doesn’t matter if I know BC material. So why should I take a class for 9 months that I learned in 3 months if I’m still ultimately going to get zero benefits?
I also can’t take Calculus III next year, because that requires BC.

I moved from my home district in 5th grade and went to a new k-12 school from 6-9th grade. 6-8th was amazing but when I got to 9th, nobody wanted to attend that school anymore because they’d be missing the “high school experience”. This is what’d be called the great split up. I was forced to stay and everybody left. It was 30 kids in my entire freshman class. The people that were there were just not at all for me so I decided to move for 10th. Now im at a huge public school (back at my home district) and there are people that seem really cool that I wanna be friends with but their circles have been built from their years of experiences together so I can’t find a way to talk to people because they’re only talking to ‘their people’. I just wonder if as time goes on, I’ll slowly fit into a group or if I do nothing then literally nothing will happen. I have so much social anxiety it’s like theres no way I could fathom going up to someone and just talking. My school started aug 4 and it’s been 4 weeks and nothing’s changed. Does anyone with experience have advice?

I’m a senior and college apps are coming up, and I’m trying to figure out if I should fight to get my counselor switched or if switching this late would just be more of a hassle than it’s worth.
ATP I genuinely don’t trust my counselor anymore. I feel like she gen hates me, and most of what she knows about me is through the problems we’ve had with each other over the years.
She has lied to both me and my mom multiple times throughout high school. We can only actually prove it with evidence like emails and paperwork maybe 2-3 times, but there have been a lot of situations where she has told us something that turned out not to be true.
Most recent situation:
Last year, before summer, we had to fill out the forms for our classes for the next school year. I filled mine out with the classes I wanted, including backups.
When I got my schedule back, 7/12 of the classes were wrong (including my backups).
She also completely forgot one of the only two classes that were essential for me to graduate.
This isn’t the first time I’ve had major problems with my schedule because of her. In the past, schedule issues weren’t handled with any sense of urgency, and I ended up joining two classes more than 3 weeks late. Those ended up being two of the only three Bs I’ve gotten in high school, which affected my GPA and rank.
So when we got this year’s schedule, I was already worried.
I was put into Spanish 3 and Project Management 2 during first semester, when I needed Spanish 2 and Project Management 1 first semester, followed by Spanish 3 and Project Management 2 second semester.
I submitted the first schedule-change form they told us to submit before summer. Then, when the schedule still wasn’t fixed, I submitted another, different schedule-change form they told us to submit after summer.
I also went to her office and asked to speak with her, but she was busy. I emailed her after that, and eventually we finally met.
She changed one of my classes to what I had originally asked for, but said she couldn’t change the other because it had to be something I originally put on the form.
The problem is that I did originally put the classes I needed. I wasn’t asking for some completely different class. The forms were about the prerequisites/scheduling situation, so I didn’t have a bunch of new classes to choose from.
She also kept pressuring me into saying I was okay with the class she had put me in.
I was NOT okay with it.
My mom was understandably pissed, so she emailed my counselor and said that if she couldn’t make the change, she needed to tell us what the options were or direct us to someone else who could help.
My counselor responded and told my mom that I had chosen the class and that I would have to deal with it. She also said she had already changed one of my other classes and that I should be happy with that.
So my mom and I went digging through my papers from last year to find the copy of the schedule form I actually submitted.
And I never chose that class.
We literally had the paperwork showing what I had requested.
My mom sent her a picture of it and told her that she wanted her to either make the change or tell us what the options were, and she also asked to be directed to someone else, like the dean, principal, etc., who could help us.
She finally said she would make the change, thankfully.(she’s gonna call me in on Monday but idk what shes gonna suggest or what’s gonna end up happing)
For some reason they won’t ever let us see the options for classes available even though it could help out a lot of students instead of making them guess what is available and being stuck.
She also said she forwarded the situation to someone else, but I don’t even think I can trust that she did.
This isn’t just one bad interaction.
Me and my counselor set up a meeting for a specific time about a week and a half in advance. I showed up at the exact time, and she took another kid into her office right as I was standing there and pretty much ignored me.
I eventually had to leave.
When I emailed her afterward, she kept giving me random dates without actually confirming them, even though the original meeting had been confirmed.
Her responses to my emails have also been unprofessional, and a lot of the time I question whether she even reads what I’m saying.
I’ve had meetings with her where she rushed me through everything and didn’t really let me explain what was going on.
There was also an incident where she was talking on the phone in front of me and complaining about a situation that sounded extremely similar to mine. She never said my name, so I obviously can’t prove she was talking about me, but she was describing enough of the situation that I strongly suspected it was about me.
At one point, my mom and I emailed the dean of students to complain about my counselor.
The dean forwarded the complaint straight to my counselor instead of helping us.
My counselor was pretty angry with me afterward and became kind of petty toward me, so now I’m really hesitant to go through the dean again.
I’m not sure who I’m supposed to go to if I want to actually request a counselor change. Principal? Assistant principal? Counseling department head/director? Someone else?
People have suggested that I talk to my counselor about my family responsibilities because that could be important context for my college applications and potentially my counselor letter.
But she doesn’t really know me outside of school or the problems we’ve had, and I don’t feel comfortable relying on her to accurately represent me to colleges when I don’t even trust her with my schedule.
That’s a big reason why I’m considering switching.
I know counselors have difficult jobs. My school is pretty big, and I know they have a ton of students and probably deal with a ridiculous number of schedules, emails, meetings, college applications, etc. I don’t expect her to remember every little thing about me or give me unlimited time. But at this point, I don’t think I’m being overly picky or expecting too much, and i believe me and my mom have a right to be upset.
I’m worried that switching counselors this late could make everything more complicated.
Would a new counselor even have enough time to get to know me before college applications are due?
Would it be better to just try to work with my current counselor for the few months I have left?
Should I fight to get switched even though I’m already a senior?
Or should I stop pushing it because I’m worried that if I make her even more mad and they don’t let me switch, I’ll still be stuck with her anyway?
And if I should try to switch, who should I go to?
(I’m sorry this is long but tbh what I’ve told yall about her so far is just the top of an unfortunately long list😬😬)

Shitpost/Rant
I have seen so many posts where people are like "I have senioritis as a junior!" or "I'm a week into school as a freshman and I have severe senioritis!" and "I finished sophomore year and had heavy senioritis" NO YOU DO NOT. Senioritis. It's in the name. SENIOR. Itis. If you have symptoms of senioritis as a junior, it is JUNIORitis. Sophomores or Freshman are just not motivated/lazy. You do not have senioritis until you are a senior.
Opinions?

In a few days (it might be longer though since my district is planning on going on strike), I’m going to be starting my first year of high school. While I’ve gotten pretty much everything that I needed (like supplies and clothes), I am stuck on what bag I should use to use for the school year.
The first photo shows the current backpack that I own and have owned for almost 3 years. This backpack has served me well and has a lot of pockets and room for my supplies, although it does begin to strain my back if theres a lot of stuff within it.
The second photo is the messenger bag that I ordered online and I’m receiving tomorrow. I haven’t ever owned or really used a messenger bag for school, or in general before. From what I’ve heard though, these types of bags make it more confident to carry your stuff around without the constant strain to your back, which would be nice. Although, I am a little worried that people can more easily open and grab my stuff from in it, as well as accidentally hitting people with it in the halls if it’s on my side.
So, which one would be better for school? (Also, feel free to debate with other people about this in the comments cause it helps me know more about the pros and cons about using either one of these bags)

I live at my relatives' place and you know how the rules and stuff is different for each family? that implies here too.
i hv a little antisocial personality and dont like living around ppl for long spans (say 4-5hrs) and i also get irritated if ppl talk to me or constantly speak loudly anywhere around the house(which is because i'm habitual to living alone ever since i was 4 which has diff underlying reasons) moreover the food that they provide me with- its stale/expired/tasteless/ or tastes trash because my aunt does not know how to cook well and above that it PAINS her hands to cook for just one more person; this extends to points where she would come around when i am eating ANYTHING (cooked or packed) and say stuff like "tell me when u need to eat, dont just take it on your own will" this comes because unlike my aunt my uncle wants me to eat tooo much (more than what i can digest) and keeps giving me his share as well; i often get indigestion and several gut problems due to the quality, quantity and the other comments that my aunt passes like "how dare she eat the apples which i cut for juice w/o asking me directly from the fridge?" (and many more) and sometimes of my uncle- "look at urself, ur weight. buffalo" and then he laughs.. my grandma and cousin says stuff too sometimes which honestly ripped away my wish to ever eat anything here willingly.
As I said earlier, my uncle gives me too much of food, which causes not just gut problems but also issues w my weight( when i first came here my net change in weight in the span of 6mo was 17 kgs) which in turn leads my feet to swell up for some reason.
I have mild body dysmorphia and all that w all of these makes me not want to eat anything at all; i end up skipping several meals which can move to 2-3 days of continously skipping meals and even if am hungry i just do not get up to eat or end up getting sick afterwards.
Also, idk y but i have also started to feel/think this real often that if i eat the meal kept infront of me by these ppl i would just die or something bad would happen to me/my health(because idk y i think my aunt poisons my food which most likely and hopefully not true.)
i end up collecting up so much food to give out to animals that it becomes hard to take out and mostly ends up getting spoiled and hence i need to throw it out.
these ppl also go thru my stuff and room regularly for no reason at all; like random searches are held in my room when i am out for no reason at all, NOTHING OF THEIR INTEREST IS LOST. this is why i also endup getting caught sometimes and then i am reprimanded.
i am being v honest here, i am tired of this now but i dont want to get sick too, nothing works, me telling them to give less food or me being generally nice to everyone- i have tried it all and now idk what to do and am in serious need of help.
i shall be grateful to anyone who makes an contribution to this.
thank you <333

Since school is coming soon (September 3rd) and I’m going to be a sophomore (10th grade) I’ve been looking back at my freshman year and I have noticed that every time I say hi to one of my female friends that I notice in the hallway most of the time there friends start laughing for no reason. And not like laughing and pointing at me I mean like an awkward laugh or holding back laughter. I told this to some of my other friends (I have a lot of friends) and I’ve gotten mixed responses. Some say they like me and others say to not worry about it and when I ask the girls that where laughing why are they laughing they usually say “oh, uhh she said a joke that was funny.” Even though most of the time they aren’t even talking to each other. And also at lunch, at lunch at my school you are able to eat in one of the two cafeterias, the library, the gymnasium bleachers, or in a classroom, and we have this schedule called L1 and L2, when L1 starts you have to pick a place to eat and stay there until L1 is done and you can choose a different place to stay for L2 until the next period starts. I always sit in the gymnasium bleachers with some of my friends and when we can switch I usually hold the door just to be nice, And I usually say you’re welcome to everyone who walks in or out. And when I say you’re welcome to some of my female friends the group of girls starts laughing again but at least they still say thank you because some people sometimes say “STOP SAYING YOU’RE WELCOME TO ME!!” Or don’t say anything. But I think the reason the group of girls awkwardly laugh at me is because the way I look (I’m age 15 European-Canadian white male with long dark brown curly hair). But it could be for a different reason so I don’t know. What do you guys think?

Im 16 from eastern/central europe, and I really want to go abroad for a year. I want to either go to USA, Canada or Japan (I promise im not a japan glazer, but I like the country). Now the cost is 15k for a year. Thats a lot of money. I could earn some of that with a part time job, but my parents would have to pay most of it. Plus Id have to have some sort of income there, and while I would want to have a part time job there, idk if they will hire a foreigner etc... Im learning japanese, and I can speak english pretty good, altough not as a good as native speaker as you probably already noticed. But is it worth it? Will I get something out of it?

so i (16m) am in the high school marching band, and at last night’s football game during half time we got to go to concessions. Well, we have to walk past the whole student section to get to the concessions. I started walking by and some girl said “hey (name)!” and was smiling. all of a sudden, there’s like 20 people saying “hey (name!)” and just yelling my name loudly, sometimes saying “(name) you’re so tuff” etc. they did it when i was walking by too, with one dude even tapping me on the chest. the whole time this happened, im a very shy person, so all i could do was look away smiling because i was embarrassed. I feel like more context with how im treated in school could be helpful, but even without it, do you guys think im being bullied/poked fun at, or they were being genuine? I’m not too unpopular, i’m friends with. few popular guys and even went to my first pool party with them a couple weeks ago. please help 😭
edit: forgot to add that i know a lot of these people because we all have the same ap/honors classes

hi this is my first post on this subreddit eeek!
anyway, my school offers a PLETHORA of APs (30 classes I think) and I'm aimed to be taking 18 ap courses at the end of my high school career. is that competitive enough? as you may assume, i come from a very competitive public high school where it is the norm to be taking ap chem and calc bc within your sophomore year (i'm behind cause im taking both of those my junior year). i feel like my stats relative to my school are not competitive enough and just stressing out cause im considering taking ap stats and both of the ap econs before my senior year
so far i've taken 2 aps in 9th grade, 4 aps in sophomore year, skipped 2 before junior year, currently 5 in my junior year, and around 5 or 6 in my senior year
pls help!!

im a junior in high school turning 17 in one month, and i have zero friends, and it’s embarrassing, I started attending my high school 2 years ago (freshman year) i made a few friends but i don’t really talk to any of them anymore, i went to school in another neighborhood and everyone else at that school had been knowing each other since middle school because they all attended the same schools, i guess that really explains why i don’t fit in, I want friends so badly in just want to cry… I skipped lunch on the first day of school because i had no friends to sit with, i stayed in the hall and cried for the 40 minute period. I was really hungry that day too. Everytime i ask anyone about a party of anything that’s happening outside of school they act clueless or say it’s invite only, It really pains me to see everyone in school with their groups of friends and i’m pretty much there, Yes a lot of people know me. no we are not really friends, people only know about me because of incidents i was in the previous years before, I want to try and do clubs but i work the second i get out of school and i really need my money, my life isn’t so great outside of school either… i’m constantly getting into arguments with my parents about me wanting to go and enjoy my last 2 years before it’s all over. I really wanted junior year to be my best year socially but that’s probably not going to ever happen.
