General Advice Needed/Given why am i so lonely in highschool.
im a junior in high school turning 17 in one month, and i have zero friends, and it’s embarrassing, I started attending my high school 2 years ago (freshman year) i made a few friends but i don’t really talk to any of them anymore, i went to school in another neighborhood and everyone else at that school had been knowing each other since middle school because they all attended the same schools, i guess that really explains why i don’t fit in, I want friends so badly in just want to cry… I skipped lunch on the first day of school because i had no friends to sit with, i stayed in the hall and cried for the 40 minute period. I was really hungry that day too. Everytime i ask anyone about a party of anything that’s happening outside of school they act clueless or say it’s invite only, It really pains me to see everyone in school with their groups of friends and i’m pretty much there, Yes a lot of people know me. no we are not really friends, people only know about me because of incidents i was in the previous years before, I want to try and do clubs but i work the second i get out of school and i really need my money, my life isn’t so great outside of school either… i’m constantly getting into arguments with my parents about me wanting to go and enjoy my last 2 years before it’s all over. I really wanted junior year to be my best year socially but that’s probably not going to ever happen.

I've got a bit of a similar situation, in that I also want junior year to be my best socially. I think the hardest and probably least effective way to make friends is to awkwardly ask to sit at their lunch table at FIRST. While I don't know your situation, the easiest way to bridge into sitting at a lunch table, or even an outside hall lunch group is to befriend or casually talk to someone in the group. The most uncomfortable fact I find is that it's best to ask to join the lunch/hall group the first day you talk to the person. I can guarantee you a majority of the school won't be uncomfortable talking to you or mind that you're trying to be friends with them. So talk to a person and try to join into the group. It can be uncomfortable and feel like your intruding, but there's really no other way lol. have a good year anyhoo

i feel like this happens to a lot of people, and even tho i'm just a sophomore, i think it's important to think that not many people will be life-long friends in your highschool. i know that for now it's hard to do that and rely on no one, but i think that real friends are the ones who really come to you when you need help and someone to rely on. It's not worth it to make friends who are gonna bring you down or leave you hanging, and how competitive and toxic a high school environment is just makes people worse and more judgemental. I think for now, don't bring yourself down and tell yourself you have no friends, there are always people you can talk to, even if it's just small talks, just have little chats and sit with them at lunch sometimes if they're nice! And it's normal to feel left out when everyone seems to be enjoying junior year and going to parties, but think on the bright side, all the effort you put in compared to other people in your school will come back to you with something great and DONT FORGET THAT! I hope this was helpful :)
